Scouting a dark location for astrophotography. Visiting the Kofa Wildlife Refuge.

- Isaac and I head up north about 80 miles from Yuma to go check out the Kofa National Wildlife Refuge in search of dark skies. The plan is to venture from Alpha Scorpii to a darker site next new moon in February.

Definitely looks like another nice dark sky spot. Well you clearly made it back through the hippies as we are seeing this video..... but will we be seeing the Scorpion Brothers in tie dye shirts next time? (but please don't dance around the telescopes naked 😱). ☮&❤

I love Arizona's landscapes. That place looks great, but wouldn't the light pollution dome from Yuma be visible to the south?
me too! We saw no light dome from Yuma or YPG to the south. we did see the Phoenix Light Dome to the East a bit, but it should be okay hopefully.
Nice landscape! How was the road? At one point you mentioned it was a bit washed out from the rain. Do you think my campervan could make it? I saw a larger RV and another campervan in your footage.
your campervan can absolutely make it. the road is like a 2 lane gravel road. there were a couple spots that were washed out a bit but not to bad. and it was dark.
I definitely see some "Monster" Landscape Astrophotography shots there....The Hippies are a good omen...That means they Feel the energy...LOL.😂..Idiots being disrespectful with there campsites piss me off...Put your Fires out and pack up your garbage...#1 Rule....Looks like a good spot...Its so sad that Alpha Scorpii is degrading with Light Pollution....Such a Magical place...I really have enjoyed everytime I've been out there...Kofa however, has that same vibe it seems....Anyway, Clear Skies Bro....

yeah it is gonna be plenty dark and the campsites are pretty spread out. hopefully it will be a fun February. Peace and Love!✌💖
What's causing the light pollution at Alpha Scorpio?
the light poultice is being caused by an agricultural plant about 3 or 4 miles to the north west. when the big flood lights are on at night, it kills the seeing and is so bright you can see your car and gear.

@@hael8680 they grow lettuce, cabbage, and a while bunch of other stuff.

I called them and the farm is like a central processing area and they do alot of stuff at night. go figure
