Man of Steel, Iron Man, and surprisingly Hancock are my favorites. The sound design is incredible and I think that's important, and they are all so unique in flight styles. Hancock was so shocking to me because it was so fluid and human. Often VFX or CGI can make things really stiff which looks fake, but Hancock's drunk flight style was so believable to me.

Iron Man definitely makes you want to fly. Besides the CGI itself looking so realistic, his body posture and demeanor looks the way a human body should look if it’s flying in a suit. The realism is just jaw dropping.
I always liked how black adam felt differently from others, when he "spawns in" it feels like he's no-cliping like the gravity wasnt a thing for him, superman has to put effort into flying, at least a little bit. Love the vids!

Man, finally seeing Clark (or rather Kal-El) fly in Season 4 was so satisfying. As a kid, my mind was blown. The continuous shot where he chases Lex's plane through the air to retrieve one of the Stones of Knowledge still holds up for a TV budget. Even the practical effects when he rips open the airplane door, with air blowing everywhere and creating turbulence. Just so good! 👏🏼

Man of Steel’s flight scenes looked amazing, gave us the feeling of power behind the flight movement. But I prefer the “casual” looking flight as opposed to the hands forward posing. Chronicle, Hancock, and even Black Adam make flying look the best just by being casual and carefree. And I know it’s animation, but I think Invincible does it best; showing the protagonist constantly adjusting his position mid-air as he flies, taking full advantage of the fact that he doesn’t rely on gravity while also giving the feeling of power when he breaks the sound barrier. They have yet to translate that realism to live-action, but I think Chronicle comes the closest

Before I even start the video. I think movies that show how diverse flight can be. Man of Steel showed the strength and power I took to get into the sky, Chronicle showed freedom and sense of wonder flying brings, Hancock (although he flew like a d--k) showed how nonchalant and simple it could look to be in the sky and I'd say Brightburn (although I'm not a big fan) it really showed how destructive it could be if someone didn't care. I know Zod (MOS) didn't care, but in Brightburn having someone inside of a small farm house at a scale we can understand, see something as fast a bullet slam through a wall, great visuals.
I think "The Rocketeer" should've gotten a mention in this. That was the last pre-CGI film to use traditional flight effects and those shots hold up great.
Maybe an underrated opinion, but Ikaris from Eternals had such fluid flying CGI, like he dodged and attack in the movie by simply moving out of the way with his flight.
Not gonna lie, the smallville first jump had people hyped, and then season 5 dropped and the first flight take off scene...am sure man steel took some inspiration from smallville
You forgot about the iconic flying skills of Ralph Hinkley in The Greatest American Hero.. Plus, the General Lee and KITT, both had awesome flying capabilities.
You know, after seeing this. Iron Man really gets it right on the flying scenes. It must be because of the signs of propulsion. There is a better way to show super heroes flying. Captain Marvel is flying in space where there is nothing close to show speed. But they get it right by showing the fire around her. The best superman flying scene i remember is when the sonic boom cones pop us around him. Its a hard job to make it look real, but its even harder to make it entertaining to watch. Like a game of golf on TV. Real golf is fun to play but boring to watch. Happy Gilmore did a fantastic job at showing Happy's strength of his swing. The sound effect is burned in my memory. The shots of the ball flying too. Its well thought out in bringing the entertainment to the max. I hope things get back to that

You know, after seeing this. Iron Man really gets it right on the flying scenes.
It must be because of the signs of propulsion.
There is a better way to show super heroes flying.
Captain Marvel is flying in space where there is nothing close to show speed.
But they get it right by showing the fire around her.
The best superman flying scene i remember is when the sonic boom cones pop us around him.
Its a hard job to make it look real, but its even harder to make it entertaining to watch.
Like a game of golf on TV.
Real golf is fun to play but boring to watch.
Happy Gilmore did a fantastic job at showing Happy's strength of his swing. The sound effect is burned in my memory.
The shots of the ball flying too.
Its well thought out in bringing the entertainment to the max.
