Very informative video and a good, productive session. the cooked garfish at the end looked very appetising.

I had two lovely Garfish on Toby lures last week. North Wales too.

Nice. I still have Toby's too, I've caught decent sized bass on even the smallest sizes.

@@anglersbureau A Bass angler I am 90% of the time. Decided to nip to Anglesey for a quick afternoon session during bright conditions searching for Gar and found them. I knew Bass wouldn't be out at that time of day so settled for the Gar which was nice.
White flash 20 gram swapped to a single hook borrowed from a similar sized seeker.

Fascinating video, as a novice angler i love the detail you put in explaing the tackle and bait. I would love to try fishing for Gar fish what would be the ideal conditions, time of year and how deep do you set your bait. Looking forward to your next video.

Hi and thanks a lot for your comments. Up here in North Wales the best time of year is mid to late summer and going into autumn. Further south they can be caught far later into the year. Garfish are surface feeders, so on this occasion I had my float set to fish about 4 feet deep. I've always found calm condition to be good for the gars, though that isn't always the case.
