I'll have you know I saw an Australian man catch a huge golden something or other fish on 4 lb test line just last week on Brooksy's fishing channel. The fish had long whiskers and I want to say it was 48" long but might have grown a bit in my imagination. Point is big fish can be caught on light tackle but you're in for a battle if you get on to a big one. Cheers.
And it preserves the flavor imo. I always used a wooden knocker to stun the fish then put them on ice if possible. Or a wet cloth will certainly work for a short time. The main thing for smaller fish is don't let them die in a bucket of water. They go off really quickly.
Great fun using a light set up, much more fun and you get a better fight and good sportsmanship to.🎣👍😁 Nice to see the 2 kayakers go by at 10:31 hopefully not to close to your lines or the other guys fishing? You just cannot beat a fresh mackerel caught and cooked within minutes of being pulled from the sea. Really, there is no comparison, anywhere in the world.

Awesome video, as usual Smashy. I tried those float stops. They melted/biodegraded, within a few weeks. I went back to rubber bands. I don't understand the purpose of the first bead above the lead. Do you think that those unhittable bites, may have been fish attacking that bead?
We have seen so many videos my boys have started quoting you while we fish. E.g. " were going to be eating good today whooa" we did a video on our channel called " how to build a rocket stove about a week ago where they say it a couple times while fishing lol. Without a doubt the best way to fish! The excitement for me is seeing the float dissappear then feeling solid resistance as you strike. Such hard fighting fish! I also enjoy pollack, wrasse, GARFISH, and occasional bass.

Jay have to agree with you about not over complicating your set up. Go back to basics, they worked before, they will work now. Mackerel pound for pound are one of the hardest fighting fish in the sea. Those maccys sure looked good, can’t beat fresh fish. Tight lines
We don't get those where I live but they import frozen fillets in which I purchase and eat twice a week. I have some wicked sauces for them too. Cool vid man!

Good to see that your not letting the Mackeral suffocate and killing them humanely. The meat tastes better when you kill fish quick and nothing wasted.
I jus had a delicious surf and turf dinner and had to watch one of ur videos right after. My lobster tail i put the garlic powder in the water like u do and added two table spoons of butter it was amazing, great video im gonna try this on some trout in a few weeks
We call this fish saba. We marinade the saba in soy and ginger then coat them in flour and fry them. We call it saba tatsuta age. Very bony fish though.
You caught a lobster in the shrimp pots yet? They do catch them I got tempted to try them a few years ago the mesh gets shredded a bit on the rocks and the zips break off but they will catch lobsters

Smoked mackerel and small tailors are a real delicacy. The oily nature of the fish is especially suited to smoking and it's a natural flavoring and preservative.
Fun vid I like seeing a lot of different species caught and cooked! Never tried mackerel fishing but after this and Die Hard Fishing catch them recently I might give it a go!👍👍😄😄🐟🐟

It’s not cruel to kill your catch straight away, it’s the right thing to do, too many people leave there catch to suffer. Well done Smash Fishing!

chriseegee it’s mad a lot of the time to be honest as we’re on an island so we get a ton of fog and wind but there’s always somewhere to fish lol
