    Thanks! I just watched another youtuber use this paint. I wasn't even aware that Magnolia Home had chalk paint. You provided an excellent explanation! I usually use Rust-Oleum on my thrifted projects. I've subscribed to your channel and look forward to checking back from time for research when I film my paint projects. Thanks again for the info!

    I bought my first can of that color and I loved it. Sooo smooth. bought my first can at her store in Waco in a 8oz can. The Target here only carries 3 or 4 colors. But recently found out that Ace Hardware is carrying it. I haven't gone yet to see what they have but will very soon.

    Great detailed view and I like how you spoke to what could be improved upon. I ordered this paint and as a long time furniture flipper I kinda like to see what types of paints you use so I can have a point of reference. I see you use high quality products. Subscribed

      The Show 78 Thank you! I try to be as objective as possible to give you the most accurate feel I get for the product. I use two primarily - General Finishes and Fusion Mineral Paint. I’m always on the hunt for new products though - u never know what u could be missing! 😀

    Just an FYI, Lowes also carries Magnolia Paint. So, therefore you can get any color you want. I used this product myself and found it to go on very smoothly and had an overall good experience. I really came to your website to see if you could use it on leather, (like Annie Sloan).

    I just found your channel and immediately subscribed because you explain things thoroughly, well and with honesty! Although this is an older video, I’d like to know what size and style Cling On brushes you use the most? You mentioned in another response that you have 5 of them. And what practice board are you using in this video. I’m looking forward to binging a few more videos!

    • @BorninaBarnBoutique

      Awe thank you! 😀 my most favorite and repurchased is the cling F50 - I still use today and love! So what I was using in the video was essentially a primed baseboard material from the Home Depot (just cut into 12” sections). It’s nice for practicing on because they are smooth and primed. 👏🏻

    I'm up in the air still on this one as I'm usually the white chalk paint type of gal. I love the color. Love the olive green one in this line too. I saw another video that had it done and WOW on the color!

    • @BorninaBarnBoutique
      @BorninaBarnBoutique  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Patricia Medeiros me too I paint a lot of neutrals! So after his video I used this paint on a small shop table, the application on a piece was still as easy as it was on the practice board, I did have to water down my second coat for the best application, but the color was gorgeous!

    You are so honest and I like that. So you doing a project you need just a bit more no samples and 3 weeks before it gets back in so popular store manager said .ugg!

    Looking to do a project in this color and I LOVE the deep finish with the dark wax. What wax did you use? Did you seal it with anything else?

    • @BorninaBarnBoutique
      @BorninaBarnBoutique  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was a beautiful color, not a brand I would use today though. After working it on a project I didn't care for the application and the finish. There are much better paints that I would use that also have colors like this. With that being said. The wax is a sealer, I used annie sloan dark wax (you apply clear first and then dark). I don't use wax hardly ever though as a sealer, I prefer General Finishes High Performance Top coat for all my pieces.

    I know this is an old video, but I just used her shiplap color on some bathroom cabinets. It left brush strokes that in the future I’d like to avoid... what is the paint brush you recommend with chalk paint?

    • @BorninaBarnBoutique
      @BorninaBarnBoutique  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Charlene Hoit I pretty much use Cling On - they are one of the best, no brush strokes! I have 5 of them and LOVE! They are a little more of an investment - but so worth it!

    What black aging wax do you prefer? Also, when to use a poly top coat or a wax?

    • @BorninaBarnBoutique
      @BorninaBarnBoutique  ปีที่แล้ว

      I like Fusion Mineral Paint aging wax, they are a nice consistency, easy to work with and no heavy odor like some. Depends on the project, the durability your looking for, the type of piece (the amount of traffic it will get). I like water based poly for most all my pieces

    Do you think this can be sprayed?

    • @BorninaBarnBoutique
      @BorninaBarnBoutique  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They don't carry the chalk paint at my ace, but thank you - its not a paint I use regularly. Yes, most any paint can be sprayed, you will just have to thin it.

    Hello will I need to sand my kitchen cabinets first before painting them with this paint or I do not need any sanding? also do I need to prime them first, do I use a brush, roller or spray paint? Thank u

    • @BorninaBarnBoutique
      @BorninaBarnBoutique  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there! You don’t have to fully sand. I like to scuff sand, clean and I prime if I’m concerned about bleed through or coverage (whites). I brushed this paint, but I mostly spray now and this is not s paint in my normal rotation. You can do whatever works best for you. I brush or spray.

    • @BorninaBarnBoutique
      @BorninaBarnBoutique  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good, but that has a lot to do with your sealer. I sealed with General Finsihes HPTC which is an awesome water based top coat. I did a little shop table so I could keep it, most everything I do for clients or to sell. Holding up great!

    • @Sandra-gz2hq
      @Sandra-gz2hq 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the quick reply! I’m new to the whole chalk paint. Would I still need to buy their wax if I put a top coat on?

    • @BorninaBarnBoutique
      @BorninaBarnBoutique  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No problem! The short answer is no - you just want to choose one or the other. You can seal with wax or various topcoats. I have not used Magnolia wax, but I have used many other paint line waxes (Annie Sloan, Fusion, etc.), which work great. If you watch my video on Topcoats - I believe How to #14 - Choosing a topcoat for your project - that will give you more detailed information and point you in the right direction!

      Sorry to hear that, yeah this paint was not one I used really again after the video. when I did this video 4 years ago it was a new paint but one that never really hit it big for furniture paint. So many others I have reviewed that are amazing

    I did not even put any wax on it. It has a hard finish. Not sure it even needs any wax.

    • @BorninaBarnBoutique
      @BorninaBarnBoutique  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Judi Holten you definitely need to seal this paint. Whether you wax or put a water based poly, it will not hold up if you don’t.

    • @BorninaBarnBoutique
      @BorninaBarnBoutique  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Judi Holten I’m glad you like it and it was smooth and easy to use. As I mention in the video and below - you definitely want to seal it - even though it dries down pretty “hard” it needs a sealer to last, prevent scratches, able to resist moisture and be cleaned.
