14:30 Definitely agree! Avalanche mortars were unsung heroes of the match, the opponent tried diving them a few times at great cost each time! Avalanche mortars put a timer on everything and help you force out some beneficial trades.
Good analysis! I agree. I yeeted the dragon, two glade riders and an archer unit got nuked trying to shut it down. Maybe a more concentrated attack would have been better!
@@hitppohiman I know your pain, WE struggle with mortars in the best of circumstances, and avalanches are the mortarest-mortars. It's made me kinda wonder what the solution is, which is why I watch these matches so closely.

often feel like skaven have a hard counter for everything. Its like you win/lose on the army build screen. Definitely one of my hardest match ups - damn rats
They're tough for sure, there are some builds that you've *really* gotta have the right pieces to compete against.
Big agree, as a Tomb King player fighting rats is either very easy or hell, based solely on a few different picks. Avalanche mortars haunt my nightmares, as do sniper rats.
I love watching the avalanche mortars just consistently deleting units in the background. They got good RNG in the background and dropped an eternal guard unit from fresh to 20% in one volley
That was an absolute clinic on how to build and play Skaven. That caster was really an unsung hero to. Well played mate.
9:00 That right there in the background was one of the most glorious Skaven artillery strikes I've seen. Completely wipe out both the enemy and the Skaven.
Isn't the life/dark caster duo from the wood elves kinda lore accurate? I remember something about them working in pairs and watching each other back (and possible chaos mutations who knows)
That's cool. It makes sense according to their whole neutrality theme as well. Not totally good or evil. I love how the Sisters of Twilight represent that duality too.
I absolutely love skaven games. They are by far one of the coolest and most thematic races in any game. GG Turin always a great watch.

You know some of these heroes and lords that hover need the flying mechanism.

Great game - I think the Eternal Guard line probably lost it for him.
Well not my only mistake for sure, but I was surprised they didn't trade better. Im not very familiar with this faction but I definitely thought they would have done more for me
Eternal Guard are dedicated large killers with the majority of it being AP, sending them straight into clan rats which have no armour is not a good trade. They aren't infantry killers, that's why Turin mentioned Dryads are a more wiser choice.
@@pjadtron9415 Yes but I still feel like one of the reasons Skaven are so strong is , that these Clanrats have no reason to hold a line so good and long against other better Infantry.
This is a problem since the beginning of Tw warhammer , since range units can completly destroy a unit in seconds , but every melee unit even monsters just need way too long on even basic units, if you cant insta fear them.
there are very few things as satisfying in this game as the avelanche mortars doing their thing

I think the WE build was brought with wide skaven in mind. It looks like the kind of build one might think up after seeing the vid Turin posted awhile ago where the skaven player drowned the field in chaff with arty behind it.
3 sources of aoe (2 casters and dragon breath attacks), bladedancers to try to mop up, and glade rider spears to dive arty. So when the build turned out to be monstrous units screening and doomwheel turning flank fights the WE didn't really have a lot of answers ready.
