  • Here's a really cool way to Texas rig a Yamamoto Senko or your soft plastic stick bait of your choice. It gives the bait a unique gliding action and allows the bait to slide in and out of grass, wood and laydowns easier.

    Will give it a try, usually rig it wacky with nail weight on one end. Thanks for posting.

    This tactic will catch you a lot of Bass! It works great around boat docks. That nail weight glides the bait right to the fish in heavy cover.

    I really like the glide action it produces, that rig will give me something to do with the nail weights I have sitting in my cup holder in the vehicle, Hahaha.

    Been using the same rig for floating worms in spring. Couple tips I have found useful. The Owner TwistLok Centerpin superline hooks are much easier to rig straight. I use the hook point to make a starter hole in both ends of the worm. Starter hole in the rear end of the hook needs to go in as deep as you intend the nail weight to sit in the worm. And of course a drop of superglue goes a long way. Hope this helps.

    Fish senkos quite often like this. Great technique. Also, those Big Bite Baits weight is the best. They are threaded like a screw so they stay in. Only ones I use. Third... a little super glue gel on your thread lock will hold it longer and I know you have that in your boat. Great stuff, bud.

    The Waco Rig - Lowbrow Fishing has been promoting that rig for over a year now. He doesn't use a screwlock though. I might have missed it in the video, but can you explain why a screwlock matters over a normal worm hook?

    • @TheTinHorseMonty
      @TheTinHorseMonty  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The screw lock keeps the worm from sliding down the shank of the hook when popping it through grass.

  • @Thematrix2785
    @Thematrix2785 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I love your vids Gabe, love chatting with you at the LBL events, but that hook is shit. Been there, used it, found a better option. Gary Yamamoto designed a hook specifically for Texas rigging senkos, it is also a screw lock but the screw is smaller and it fits inside more plastics much better. It comes in a regular wire and a heavy wire version.

  • @fishingjunkie849
    @fishingjunkie849 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I have probably the dumbest question on your channel. I see alot ppl using a spinning reel when fishing a senko why is that? Is it the way they rig it like wacky rig compared to texas rig on baitcaster, is it easier for hookset? I suck at throwing a spinning reel it almost never lands where I want lol

    • @TheTinHorseMonty
      @TheTinHorseMonty  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      A lot of it has to do with it being easier to skip a Senko on a spinning reel than a baitcaster. A spinning reel allows for a more free fall because you can leave the bail open and give it slack. Good question.
