Great video. Hello from Canada. I just love grubs. Some of the things I like about them are, they are way easier to acquire and keep in good condition opposed to live bait. They work on pretty much every species of fish, you can imitate anything a fish eats with them by changing the colour and how you fish them, you can fish it in almost every way, lots of people don’t throw them so fish are typically not used to seeing them. They work scented or unscented if you have allergies or going into restricted waters. And they are usually pretty dang cheap.
Thanks for chiming in from up north. You nailed it on the grubs. They are super versatile, readily available and affordable. Thanks for checking out the channel.
Thanks Gabe, new baits come out and get all the attention. Old baits get forgotten, but they still work. Example Zoom Lizard,Texas rig worm.have caught as many fish as any bait made.
Great video that I tried to pay attention to as best I could but you were up against Canada vs. Swiss Women's Beach Volleyball! Talk about your tail up and tail down! 😂 Love those Fat Alberts! Had a lot of luck with both the single and twin tail as jig trailers. Seeing this video also makes me want to give them a try on a Hover or TUSH head. Stay hydrated this week!
Gabe, I have used t-rigged grubs for years. I like tail down, fav colors: blue pearl & black with blue tail. I have switched over to the Owner shakey ultrahead 3/16oz. 4/0 with 5in grubs. You can work it horizontal or vertical in the water column. I caught a 6lb LM last year suspended in the tree tops on the blue pearl. Like the videos. MB
I’m glad I could at least be some inspiration for ya. 🎣😂😂. Next time I see ya, I have something for ya. It’s just a small thank you for what you do. ✌🏼🎣 #THM #GRUBSWORK
I mostly use those Grubs as trailers on my Thunder Crickets, but when I'm throwing soft plastic craws, and one of the pinchers gets bit off, I keep throwing it, they sort of look like Grubs, Haha, and they do get bit.
Those fat tail grubs are killer always have been. A cut ribbon tail worm can work but is not a substitute. That tail width on the Fat Albert puts out a good amount of vibration on a level that a worm just doesn't. The fat tail also helps in keeping it at the depth you want it at. A lot of people think the paddle tail minnow is a replacement for the grub but it's not. Both great baits in their own right and excel in various conditions. Sales numbers and trends mean nothing to a fish. I think in calmer or clearer water I'd rather throw a grub but in stained water or choppy conditions a paddle tail would be a little better due to more vibration. I think the grub is more versatile overall since it can still do its thing at slow retrieve rate whereas the paddle tail requires a somewhat medium speed to work the tail.
@@TheTinHorseMonty I have been enjoying it man! Sometimes as fisherman if we get on a roll catching them on certain baits or tactics we can get narrow minded and lose focus on some other sweet options. Keep em coming man!
I like a grub but if in being honest, there’s other shapes out there that work better that have similar profiles. A small 3 or 4 in swim bait will do everything a grub will do and I don’t have to carry both shapes and it will be more versatile. I can cut down a UV worm and get the same action as a grub and not have to carry both packs of baits. Could also leave it long and fish it like a normal speed worm. Another is the lizard. I used to think the legs and tail gave the bait a lot of action but if you look at underwater videos of the zoom lizard, the legs have zero action so I stopped fishing it. I just stick with a ribbon tail with a true ribbon of a tail. Not the curl tail. Lot of new baits that are overrated but a lot of old baits don’t cut it and aren’t versatile enough. A REAL underrated bait is the tube. Tube can do everything
I'm a big fan of the tube too. I'll probably do a tube video soon. Great feedback. You're probably right about the bait breakdown. I just enjoy revisiting some of the classic shapes. If I took all the different shapes n sizes of plastics out of my boat and replaced them with more multi functional baits I'd add 2 MPH to my top end speed but I'd get bored throwing the same stuff. Thanks for checking out the channel.
i have fish the grub since. ummmmm it was made. lol i have used the 4" to 6" grubs to get bit in deep waters. i love them on my bladed jigs too. tight lines
Please don't bring that little dog out there on hot days. That extreme panting is a sign of major distress. Small dogs cannot handle extreme temperatures. They can easily get heat stroke. I say this not to be a dick in any sort of way. You seem like a good guy who obviously loves his pup enough to bring him out with you but he truly is in danger in warm summer weather. One option instead, if you must bring him in that heat is to wet him really good say every 45-min to hour. Especially on his head but entire body is even better. It works wonders to keep them cool a and safe. A lot of are unaware the danger posed to dogs in hot weather. Please consider my suggestions. I'll now un-pause it and go back to watching you use that grub, one of my favorites.
I wanted to edit my comment but it wouldn't let me. Sorry if I came off as demanding. I shouldn't have said "don't bring him", but rather "here's how to keep him nice and cool on hot days". My little dogs are outside in the heat in the backyard and they tolerate it fine because I continuously wet them down (on their heads at least). Anyhow I'll delete these comments after I see that you've read them. I'm not here to.bash your channel in any way.
Thanks buddy. I really appreciate the concern and you are right. I don't take her out on really hot days. In fact she hasn't been in the boat since this video. I do keep an eye on her and thanks for the suggestions on keeping her cool. She's ready for fall so she can get in the boat with me.
Still throwing Zoom Fat Albert. The Smallmouth tear em up . Never really stopped using one since the 80 s. Glad to see you bring it up. Great video
Sweet. Good to hear. 💪

Appreciate the feedback Mike. I will try the shakeyhead grub. Thanks
That hook from Shaw was something I used to use on tubes. I still have a few of them as well.
Same buddy. It has a giant gap. I'm going to see if it works like I remember.
Good job. You always catch bass one way or the other. Thank you.

Nice video the Fin is tough out there with you in the heat 😂😂😂🐶
Thanks. She's a trooper.

I think a one clawed craw puts up less of a fight 😀

Good sneaky tactic. Been years since I fished a grub for bass. Tail down for me.
The lizard is next LOL. It's fun to bring light to these throwback baits.

LOL Sounds like someone enjoys the grub.
