  • This is a short tutorial on how you can use your old router as a wifi repeater by using the WDS Bridge feature without any cables.
    The video is performed using the following routers:
    TP-Link TL-WR841N (Primary Router)
    Tenda F300 (Secondary Router)

    One of the best tutorials on setting up a repeater/extender. I set up an old wifi router in the living room to extend the signal from the main wifi router in the basement at the other end of the house. I wasn't able to connect from upstairs before and now I get full signal bars. Thanks.

      So explain something please. How do I get the router in the other room. That isthe part I dont understand. Wont it still be connected to the first router ?

    • @electronixTech
      @electronixTech 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@debbiegroves2649 So you have to set up the second router in repeater bridge mode through the router settings. It has to have the same ssid name and encryption key the main router has but you set up the second repeater router with a different ip address than the main router. You connect from your repeater router to your main router through the settings page. Your repeater router will be closer to your computer with a strong signal so your computer's wifi will connect to the repeater router rather than try to connect to the weak signal from the main router. The closer repeater router will act as a bridge to your main router.

      @@nawalnautiyal3933 I am using the dd-wrt firmware I flashed on the base wifi router and I get full speed through my bridge router. The speed did not drop at all through the repeater. Before using the repeater/bridge router I was getting low download speeds because of the weak wifi signal.

      If the 'WDS Bridge' option is not there then you will not be able to do it wirelessly.

    • @SL7Tech
      @SL7Tech  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes you can set the password once internet connection is established.
      It will not decrease the speed of your internet on your main router, but the second router won't give you the full speed.
      For full speed, you need to use a Ethernet cable to connect the routers. I have a video on that.

For example if the main wifi router is ip address 192.168.1.1 and the bridge router is 192.168.1.2 you would go into the properties setting for your ipv4 adapter on your computer and set the adapter to 192.168.1.3, 255.255.255.0, gateway: 192.168.1.1 and dns to whatever your isp uses for their dns server address.

    I've got a question. Let's say I get a network cable to connect it to my laptop and this repeater. Can my laptop have Internet access from this connection?
