Along with Shivaram Karanth, SL BYRAPPA is the most prolific and talented writer ever to hail from Karnataka and both of them deserved jnana peet and Nobel prizes for their body of work. Had they written in English, they would have gotten Nobel prize long back.

ನನ್ನ ನೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಕಾದಂಬರಿಕಾರರು ನನ್ನ ಹದಿ ಹರೆಯದ ವಯಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಮೊದಲು ಓದಿದ್ದು ಇವರ ಪರ್ವ ಕಾದಂಬರಿ . ನಂತರ 40ವರಷ ವಾದರೂ ಇನ್ನೂ ಅವರ ಕಾದಂಬರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಮತ್ತೆ ಮತ್ತೆ ಓದುತ್ತೇನೆ. 🙏
I have lost touch with Kannada after leaving school in Udupi in 1958. I am so glad to see this. Along with Shivram Karanth, TaRaSu, Anakra, these were stalwarts of those years.
As a Kannadiga, I am proud of the scholarly work of Shri S.L Byrappa. I am also astonished to know that till date, he has not been given the prestigious " JNAANA PEET AWARD" to date. If one looks at his body of works, he deserves the " Nobel prize " for Literature. Vamsha Vraksha and Parva are his standout creations. He is in the same league as Dr.Shivaram Karanth, another illustrious writer from Karnataka.

An excellent documentary on Dr.S.L.Bhyrappa, an invaluable jewel of Kannada Literature. As rightly said by him, reading his novels, makes the readers to appreciate the nuances of life. As told by him, once again, a love for life alone can keep the fear of death, at a distance, though inescapable. Hearty appreciation for Shri Sheshadri, for documenting a towering personality of Kannada literature.

Excellent video. SL Bhyrappa is a great exponent of art and literature, who cannot perhaps be equalled, when it comes to the format of novels and more so, in the Indian context. However, during his take on the Committee of national integration by Indira Gandhi, he appears to have said that the committee was asked to rewrite text books deleting the parts on Islamic Invasion. He had not accepted such a view to distort history and was later removed from the committee. He had narrated that in other speeches as well. However, that part is deleted and edited in this video. Because of this deletion and wrong editing, it looks like he is saying that the islamic invasion itself is a distortion. To this extent, the editing of the video is bad. Else, it is nicely made, assuming there was a time constraint. For greater detail, please read his Bhitti.
