The guy who said "I can't take you seriously as a watch enthusiast" is an absolute tool. That is literally the definition of an enthusiast, someone who will gladly wear a £3000 Breitling one day and then a £15 Casio the next
Right from the beginning what attracted me to this channel was the recognition that relatively inexpensive watches like Casio's can be incredibly cool. Oh and bravo on the intro.
These watches got me to school, got me to work on time, met friends, caught the bus. I recently got an F91w for less than I'd spent on lunch and it's light weight and comfortable. I am reminded why I always loved it so much
First watch was a F91W, in fact, pretty much everyone in my year at shool had one. It was the watch to have. We'd all set the alarm for 3:05pm each day to ensure the teacher knew it was hometime! Amazing watch, amazing memories.
One of the best watch videos you have ever done! Love the brand concept, simple, accurate, highly functional, highly accurate, affordable and cost efficient. These are attributes that the more expensive watch brands simply don't offer or provide!
My collection is small. Hamilton, seiko, Tissott being slightly under 1000.00 being my most expensive. That said I have many G Shock tough solar as well as a Casio 212 world time. When not at work, the Casio watches get the most wear time for sure. That said you keep doing what you do. Your channel brings great information to so many of us, you can’t be discouraged by one persons opinion.
Said it before and will say it again, The Urban Gentry channel is back to its original greatness! So glad to see you being more yourself and free TGV! 🥰
I don't like to be picky, but the crystal is acrylic. Not mineral. And they're both water resistant to 3bar(30m). Not 5bar(50m). Otherwise, great! Love my A158 to pieces!
Can't believe it did it. I just ordered one online after watching this video. Sheesh. I had the predecessor to this waaay back in the early 80s (can't remember which reference). i loved that watch back then. Never thought I'd ever own one again. Nice video, dude.
Best intros in the business, mate. Easily the best watch enthusiast channel on TH-cam, whenever I'm looking for a review on a particular watch I always check your channel first. Been watching since 2016, when I acquired my first F-91W.
I missed this format so much! And what better way to get started than with the legendary A168! Currently wearing it as this is my stay-at-home watch. Cheers TGV!
You and Jody from Just One More Watch have turned me into a Casio lover! I just purchased an AW158 for myself for Christmas and got my wife an A700W which was her first digital watch she has ever owned. Love Casio. I now have about 16 of them in my collection with more to come! Thank you for ALL you do for the watch community!
There are actually some porn scenes from the 70s, 80s, and later where porn stars wear Casio watches. When there are no clothes on except maybe a watch and sneakers the watch really stands out. Lol
My two watches: Rolex Explorer II and Casio AE1200 World timer. In fact I have a whole bunch of Casios. I bought a Casio when I put the Rolex in for a service which unfortunately because of the lockdown ended up taking 6 months. When the Rolex came back I found it very difficult to part ways with the Casio so that it is now an occasional watch with the Rolex. So different but so good at what each of them do. Watch manufacturers at the top of their game. Great video, best wishes from Sydney Australia
Informed and classy response to the watch snobs. Well done TGV 👏 I'm almost certain that Anthony Edwards wore a silver Casio as Goose in Top Gun. It could hang just fine with the Porsche Design Orfina
How can a watch snob doesn't appreciate the true giants like Casio? Even people with collection of Rolex, Omega, AP, VC, will find their way to sneak Casio into their collection..and sometimes it's what differ you from watch snob to a watch enthusiast, it's not about pricepoint anymore 😂
Funny how that viewer mentioned it 2:27. I actually spent a lot less time on your channel during your collaberation with Watchbox, mainly because those watches featured did not meet my budget, and my everyday lifestyle. I wouldnt dare to wear a 20k FPJ (I love their watches OMG!) on job time, but a solid Sinn U2 or a beater SKX would seem to be more realistic and practical, at least for me personally. I am glad that I no longer need to wait for my next tax return to come in, in order to buy a watch featured here. Keep it basic, keep up the good work, onwards, and upwards, ciao.
The return of affordable watches to The Urban Gentry, I praise the decision and, as a proud owner of an AW168, I consider that the use of the Casio in "Plans, trains and automobiles" is one of the best decisions in the history of cinema! X-D, and I'm also an admirer of that movie. Oh Darlyn! Candy and Martin are perfect in their characterizations.
I love Casio, my everyday is a dw5600 or mdv106, I work in a warehouse job for a plumbing and piping supplier and i bicycle commute to work year round so I need something durable and can take a beating, being slammed around loading pipe, climbing racks, driving forklifts, exposed to weather, my other favs are my orients, the ray 2 and bambino when I get the chance to wear them
Being someone who was a kid in the 70s and 80s, these Casios are a major nostalgia trip. Love everyone of them. Thanks for the great video once again TGV!
I hate to see you still get negative comments based on price and type vs the watches that bring joy. I love my Casio's just as much as any other watch I own. Love the channel and thank you for good, positive content.
Glad to have you back! You don’t shy away from anything, from Omega to Casio. Appreciate that sir! Value and history can be found at all price levels. Also like your renewed focus on non watch subjects.
Casio will always be my favorite watch brand. Timex makes some nice retro digitals and the classic Triathlon is an iconic watch. Affordable, stylish and durable watches are nothing to look down your nose at. I have a collection of 10 watches and most are cheaper digitals, along with my grandpas old Seiko analog and an Invicta (?).
Great review as usual…the *Back to the Future* bit hints at your channel's revamp rather nicely. Wore all sorts of digi Casios way back, including a pair of calculator models (whose multiple functions I actually used…somehow). Haven't had any digital watch in decades, but recently picked up a Casio Pro-Trek which I like a lot: versatile and rugged, but without all the excess hirsuteness of the bigger G-Shock numbers. Looking forward to Pt.2. Keep up the work, and good luck on your new business venture.
Omg .. tgv destroyed that comment with such class and style .. i love it :D.. and i love my casios the same as my junghans .. especially my casio oceanus OC-106 .. great watch :D..
I coveted a Casio watch in the late 70's when I was in middle school. Especially the calculator version. I still do a bit, it brings back wonderful memories like hanging out in arcades in Times Sqare NYC playing Centipede and Joust in the mid 80's.
Great work as usual .... amazing intro (Oh and right on with Casio. You really make a difference by giving the appropriate space and respect onto amazing brands like Casio. From Tron to trusty G-shock. Highly undervalued tech!) WOULD YOU EVER REVIEW A TAG HEUER Connected WATCH? Happy to send one your way for review.
There is also a f-105 which is pretty much a f-91w with a full back lit light and basically the same size as the a158,it's also more water resistant than the f-91w👍. Thanks again for the great watch reviews,I really enjoy them👍👍
I literally just wore my Casio A158W golfing! I love how low profile and unobtrusive it is. I also love how you can love both affordable and luxury watches. Both have their merits. Cheers from Canada!
Thank you for again showing that iconic watches can be had at any price point! I own the Casio CA53w calculator watch and the F84w (slightly smaller JDM version of the F91w) and they are the most comfortable watches in my collection. As you say, it's having a movie star on your wrist! Also, sick intro today. Stay classy, TGV!
I'm so happy that you've decided to take that leap of faith, driven by your passion to purchase this remarkable wrist watch. Thank you for telling it like it is!
As a man who has Japanese background (mother's family immigrated to Japan), I cant really describe how much I enjoy in the design of Japanese watches, clothing, cars and motorbikes. You may not understand it, but people including me may have to understand their design language by 'heart' or 'soul', then you can SEE the efforts they made, the battle in the designer's heart and designer's personal voice to public, their personal stories, and the compromise they made (e.g., reliability, brave design, feasibility and so on); while the western design is more straight forward, that you know they are good and refined once you see it.
I bought an A168 off eBay at a reduced price since it had a small nick in the case. Funny enough, this watch is THE most accurate watch I own. When it’s on my wrist it’s running almost perfect time. Off the wrist it gains not even a second per month. Don’t know how Casio can produce something that’s near perfect accuracy for $8 bucks.
TGV, Thank you so much for all you do for the community. I originally got into fashion and in turn fashion watches. It's those fashion watches that got me interested in the hobby and brought me to your channel. Your channel has done such a great job of educating me in horology and the intricacies of watches. Casio has such an interesting history and it's my go-to watch brand.
I have a 217H that I really love the size of. Not as small as the F91W but still smallish, light weight, and just the right size for me so I have just ordered the 168 as a companion. Great review!
I have both and they are very good. I've been wearing versions with the plastic bands for a long time, think I'm gonna pick my 168 for a daily watch. Takes me back a few years.
I find it funny that watch snobs would poo poo Casio. Horology is awesome, regardless of brands. If the gold Casio is good enough for Idris Elba, it’s good enough for all watch enthusiasts. Fantastic vid as always
You're right. At first I thought this watch is too small for my 7" wrist, but if Idris Elba is wearing it, heck I can also wear it. I may not be able to pull it off the way he did, but still. lol
Those who say Casio is not a proper watch actually know nothing about watches...except very high end mechanical watches in other categories Casio are arguably one of the best if not the best watch makers on planet earth..... If a person does not own a Casio then actually he is not watch person ......one can make a huge collection in just 500 dollars.....
“ but I can’t call the guy that wears a Casio a true watch enthusiast or expert”?! Wow… That’s one of the more snobby (and ignorant) takes on being a watch enthusiast I’ve ever heard. Pure crap. I own a Rolex, a Sinn, a Monta and many other fine watches and I own about six Casio‘s which I also dearly love. I love wearing my Casio Duro. I put it on a great NATO strap (probably cost more than the actual watch itself) and it looks great!
I own the A-158WA and I adore it. It brings back so many memories, and it’s such a lovely comfortable timepiece. You can’t have a watch collection whithout a Casio in it. Great video as always TGV!
Sorry to rain on your parade, TGV, but I believe that AW168 you got there is a knock-off, not the real deal, hence no drilled lugs and the pinkish text. I could be wrong if the ones made in Malaysia are slightly different, but there's a comparison on TH-cam (can't share link or my comment gets blocked, but do look it up) Nevertheless, great review! Keep it up! :)
Great video! I picked up an A168 for $15 on an Amazon one day sale after watching this and it has become one of my favorite watches to wear. So light on the wrist I forget I have it one, and it gets a lot of compliments for its retro 80's looks. I have Rolex and Tudor watches which I love, but also a dozen Casio watches in my collection. Nothing can touch Casio at this price range.
Bought my first Casio a few months ago, the SGW100, for only 30 bucks brand new. Absolutely love it. Wouldn't mind adding more Casios to the collection.
TGV, you've been on fire the last couple of weeks! Great videos, nice diverse range of watches. I love my Casio A168WA-1 and my G-SHOCK Rangeman GW-9400, and intend to always have a Casio in the collection
That intro was poppin! Loving it! And mannnnn those macro shots really just made me fall in love with that gold Casio... And your right TGV, these styles are getting more popular with the younger generation... I was so surprised when one of my friends, who never used to wear watches, started wearing the silver one. I asked him about it and he said he just like the style.
Great video. But truly, I don't understand the hate the older led backlight receives. I am able to easily read the time with it in the dark, and it also provides that vintage electronica vibe, with a faint instrument panel like glow. I find the EL to be rather "dull", and also, it relatively softens the display and increases the watch thickness due to the addition of an extra layer of EL sandwich display.
TGV show us all how to value both a $20 dolar Casio and a $10.000 Rolex. That's one of things that I like the most in The Urban Gentey Channel. Best regards from Brazil.
You did such an amazing job tribute for the watches. From a casio collector. I’m really thankful for this video. Thank you. For the watch snobs that think a Casio collector deserves no respect… I have a Rolly Datejust too. I just find the Rolex is all I need in the Mechanical department. The low maintenance and cost on the Casio line makes for a fun approachable collection.
I have the A168 in “gunmetal” with the negative display and I get more complements on it than any other watch I wear. Please don’t buy this watch bc I like being unique haha😂
Intro was fire...love Casio...a friend told me he was surprised that I own a G-SHOCK square because of my other watches...I explained to him the horological significance...he got it...hw wasn’t being snobbish....just didn’t know....love your content....
Hi TGV Casio is horology just as much as the expensive watches. Even more than many of those, as Casio has brought a whole new way of thinking watches to the table. Some people don’t like them, and that’s ok. But to claim that the brand isn’t significant horological is snobbery... I only possess one at the time; my beloved G Shock which is supposed to be my beater watch. But I catch myself babying it. Very practical for work situations with the alarms and stuff. The very cheap models you show here can do exactly the same though. Very nice vid in the original Urban Gentry style. Give us more, please. I’m looking forward to part 2😊 Have a nice weekend and keep up the good work👍
I could not agree more with those first 3 words. Haha, as for babying the G-shock, defo been there! But I have to admit, there is also something equally satisfying about getting them muddy and worn in too! Thank you for the inspiring words Kjeld,, much more on the way! Working on part 2 as we speak for July ;-) Have a great rest of the weekend too, Best regards, TGV
The person who made the distasteful comment that anyone who wears a Casio doesn't know anything about watches is an idiot, to be polite. I happen to appreciate how you find enjoyment from the most affordable and simple watches to the most luxurious and complicated watches. To me, that is why I consider TGV a watch guru. I always look forward to the latest videos from our favorite Urban Gentry.
That intro is one of the best intros I've seen in a long time and I agree with the statement that people should respect Casio more cuz like you said they have innovated for a long time and quick question I know this is very long but does having a smartwatch in your collection make you less of a watch collector
I instantly fell in love with the A158 except for one big issue, the case is only chromed resin, I also didn't fancy the new stainless steel Casio timepieces. I therefore went for a vintage W-38 with a stainless steel case. Thanks for reminding me of Casio!
I love Casio! Seriously for the money you’d be extremely hard pressed to find anything better. They’re all I wore for about 8 years straight, got my first one when I was a broke high school student. Not too long ago I bought my first “real” watch and my first automatic, an Orient Maestro with a white dial & milanese band and I just recently picked up a Citizen Promaster Diver Eco-Drive which I ended up slapping an alligator grain leather strap on. As much as I love my two watches, Casio will always have a special place in my heart. Btw keep up the vids, I’m really glad I came across your channel, you have some great content 🤙🏼
A person who looks down on Casio as a whole is a Watch Snob -- not a Watch Enthusiast.
The guy who said "I can't take you seriously as a watch enthusiast" is an absolute tool. That is literally the definition of an enthusiast, someone who will gladly wear a £3000 Breitling one day and then a £15 Casio the next
Well said
This intro was a masterpiece TGV
Thank you so much :D
Best regards,
TGV
“Hosted, written, edited and directed by TGV”. love this. I feel a sense of freedom.

I am reminded why I always loved it so much
My Casio AD says if I wash his car one more time this weekend he’ll put me on the waiting list for one of these
That sounds like a fair arrangement
First watch was a F91W, in fact, pretty much everyone in my year at shool had one. It was the watch to have. We'd all set the alarm for 3:05pm each day to ensure the teacher knew it was hometime! Amazing watch, amazing memories.
I love this channel. By the way, Casio is KASHI-O, KASHI=樫=Oak(tree) O= 尾=tail. Good luck and Thanks. from Japan.

I have two of these , a silver and gold version . Put them on 18mm barton quick release canvas straps . Great grab n go watch !
They both on the same color?
Which one is better?
Hey TGV I personally love that you are promoting cheaper watches that everyone with a passion for watches can enjoy. Keep up the great videos!!!
Fantastic intro TVG, will always have a soft spot for Casio after my brother first got one some years back and it got me into watchers.
Thumbs up for that intro already!
Lol
Lol, reference please. Very funny for a war room!
That's a real horologist!

Lots of love for Casios here. Best intro yet by the way
Bought a Seiko SNXS79 as my work watch but end up wearing my AW168 half the time! The AW168 has so much charm and is so light on the wrist.
Informed and classy response to the watch snobs. Well done TGV 👏 I'm almost certain that Anthony Edwards wore a silver Casio as Goose in Top Gun. It could hang just fine with the Porsche Design Orfina

Screw Watchbox bro. It's nice to have you back in your home format!
The intro is amazing and you have smoked the comment guy.
Best intro I've ever seen for a TH-cam video. And I've been here since TH-cam was nothing.
TGV back to absolute top form!!!! 👍
The return of affordable watches to The Urban Gentry, I praise the decision and, as a proud owner of an AW168, I consider that the use of the Casio in "Plans, trains and automobiles" is one of the best decisions in the history of cinema! X-D, and I'm also an admirer of that movie.

Being someone who was a kid in the 70s and 80s, these Casios are a major nostalgia trip. Love everyone of them. Thanks for the great video once again TGV!
The 1980s were the peak of human history. Everything before and after has been downhill.
Yeah everyone fried their brains on cocaine
I hate to see you still get negative comments based on price and type vs the watches that bring joy. I love my Casio's just as much as any other watch I own. Love the channel and thank you for good, positive content.
While I prefer the electroluminescent display of the 168 I'll take the 158 every time. I prefer the smaller, thinner size.
I love Casio....I got a couple G shocks and the Silver A158 and Gun metal A168. Casio's make some of the best watches.
And this is why i really enjoy your reviews. You show as much respect to an affordable Casio as to any high horology piece.
Omg .. tgv destroyed that comment with such class and style .. i love it :D.. and i love my casios the same as my junghans .. especially my casio oceanus OC-106 .. great watch :D..

WOULD YOU EVER REVIEW A TAG HEUER Connected WATCH?
Happy to send one your way for review.
There is also a f-105 which is pretty much a f-91w with a full back lit light and basically the same size as the a158,it's also more water resistant than the f-91w👍.
Thanks again for the great watch reviews,I really enjoy them👍👍
I literally just wore my Casio A158W golfing! I love how low profile and unobtrusive it is. I also love how you can love both affordable and luxury watches. Both have their merits. Cheers from Canada!
I m absolutely in love with my a158 and its been 10 years now
I have the a163 and feel the same way 👍
Thank you for again showing that iconic watches can be had at any price point! I own the Casio CA53w calculator watch and the F84w (slightly smaller JDM version of the F91w) and they are the most comfortable watches in my collection. As you say, it's having a movie star on your wrist! Also, sick intro today. Stay classy, TGV!
158-168, both good watches. Back light on 168 is far better. Good review, thanks
The Casio a158 feels much more comfortable to wear, so if a light is not important I would definitely recommend the a158.
I'm so happy that you've decided to take that leap of faith, driven by your passion to purchase this remarkable wrist watch. Thank you for telling it like it is!
The Casio a158 is the watch that you deserve it's the watch that you need

Nice video, TGV. It seems the end of Urban Gentry “as we know it” has revived Urban Gentry as we had loved it.
I bought an A168 off eBay at a reduced price since it had a small nick in the case. Funny enough, this watch is THE most accurate watch I own. When it’s on my wrist it’s running almost perfect time. Is it just me or do the intros just keep getting better
TGV, you did it again! Love the intro and I'm glad you are back to the old school style. Watch box are great but, you're better in this style.
Really enjoyed this one TGV, a great return to form
This watch is only worthy of the “God-tier / Boss-level” watch collectors.
I am LOVING the non-watch box videos! We’ve got the real TGV back again!
I find it funny that watch snobs would poo poo Casio. Horology is awesome, regardless of brands. If the gold Casio is good enough for Idris Elba, it’s good enough for all watch enthusiasts. Fantastic vid as always

Well if we would measure the price of a watch to rate a man’s wealth. Some rappers would come out on top and Bill Gates at the bottom.
I own the A-158WA and I adore it. It brings back so many memories, and it’s such a lovely comfortable timepiece. You can’t have a watch collection whithout a Casio in it. Great video as always TGV!

That intro was art
Bought my first Casio a few months ago, the SGW100, for only 30 bucks brand new. Absolutely love it. Wouldn't mind adding more Casios to the collection.
Don't know why i waited so long to bag one of these. Went with the gold AW159 instead but tbh you just can't go wrong with any of these releases.
TGV, you've been on fire the last couple of weeks! Great videos, nice diverse range of watches. I love my Casio A168WA-1 and my G-SHOCK Rangeman GW-9400, and intend to always have a Casio in the collection
Anyone that slams Casio or Seiko can immediately be identified as someone that knows jacks#it about watches and horology.
I bought the 168WA only for the backlight
Brill! Yours are the only intros on the internet that I don't skip.
Totally agree 😎👍 The light is just fine for me
TGV show us all how to value both a $20 dolar Casio and a $10.000 Rolex. That's one of things that I like the most in The Urban Gentey Channel.
Best regards from Brazil.
I am honored, this is very important to me and it will always be like this.
Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
The funny thing is that the dude who made the comment about casio ironically just exposed himself for how little of a watch expert he actually is.
Yeah you can dislike a casio but if you can't appreciate it for what is it you're just a elitist watch snob and they are the worst
@@jessISaRicePrincess I mean that goes for any brand tbh. I don't exactly love rolex but I do appreciate their place in the watch space.
What an amazing video from start to finish. I too love Casio watches. Wonderful value for money timepieces.
So Cool and so retro.👍
This intro was off the chain 🤙
This is why I'm a subscriber! If you are a watch fan you are a watch fan! Thank you to the Gentry! From Casio to Rolex! Stay classy my friend! #salute
Hi can I ask you..what do you do when the gold begins to fade? How can you get it repainted or whatever it’s called
Probably my second fav intro! Only second to the last “outrun” style intro with music by Volkor I think?
I have the A168 in “gunmetal” with the negative display and I get more complements on it than any other watch I wear. Please don’t buy this watch bc I like being unique haha😂
I have that one too.....very nice watch and you can wear it with anything.
Intro was fire...love Casio...a friend told me he was surprised that I own a G-SHOCK square because of my other watches...I explained to him the horological significance...he got it...hw wasn’t being snobbish....just didn’t know....love your content....
That Intro 😍
Hi TGV
Casio is horology just as much as the expensive watches.
I’m looking forward to part 2😊
Have a nice weekend and keep up the good work👍
I could not agree more with those first 3 words.
Haha, as for babying the G-shock, defo been there! But I have to admit, there is also something equally satisfying about getting them muddy and worn in too! Thank you for the inspiring words Kjeld,, much more on the way! Working on part 2 as we speak for July ;-)
Have a great rest of the weekend too,
Best regards,
TGV
The person who made the distasteful comment that anyone who wears a Casio doesn't know anything about watches is an idiot, to be polite.
I happen to appreciate how you find enjoyment from the most affordable and simple watches to the most luxurious and complicated watches. To me, that is why I consider TGV a watch guru.
I always look forward to the latest videos from our favorite Urban Gentry.
That intro is stunning!
wooow! that intro!!!
Really liking the recent content TGV, speaks to us "regular joes" and I like it, can't wait to see the new 40mm 5KX's when you review them!
TGV can make the affordable, desirable.
