Not trying to sound like a prick but bungie always destroys exotics whenever they become popular. It's funny that bungie went from halo which was amazingly balanced to having all weapon archetypes complete shit in destiny and to make it worse the lag is to terrible.
I loved Hawkmoon. I couldn't snipe across map with it but I could go on a killing spree when I was being charged. It isn't bungie's fault that it was nerfed it was those who abused the weapon to the point of Bungie having to. I learned that you can't blame bungie for nerfing pvp weapons when it's the players who leave them no choice. I will admit that I did use Thorn in ToO but I did it to combat other users (most likely the excuse of every other user) Remember this, every effect has a cause.
last word is not OP, the nerf on shotguns and fusion rifles, and the non existent buff on autorifles makes you think it's OP, it's just that any other weapon that could reliably shutdown TLW got nerfed. ADS accuracy means nothing for TLW because hipfire accuracy is better than aimed even at further ranges.
5:40 to help with that problem i find that you can land shots while constantly firing, you got to pull it down a bit while firing in a row to get more hits
Hawkmoon was my first exotic.. I got it from prison of elders around level 20.. I bought destiny early in the summer of 2015 and i never watched youtube about it. I had no idea what an exotic was but i knew i loved this gun.. It was by far the sexyest gun ive ever seen and still is..... Its always been my go to primary and ever sense i got it, it was the only gun i ever used sense the day I got it. Ive always played the game solo and have had no luck finding a fireteam, this lead me to be big on pvp, and you can imagine how i felt when my hawkmoon couldn't shoot and do full damage anywhere out of the range of a danm shotgun
Is it still possible to 2 tap someone with Hawkmoon? If im not mistaken they nerfed the damage on the lucky bullets so that it can only 2 tap if both bullets are lucky bullets, although correct me if im wrong.
Remember the days where all the First Curse reviews said "If you want to use an exotic hand cannon like this, you might as well be using the Hawkmoon."
guys did I hear correctly @1:45, "I would love to recommend using one of the other perks since speed reload does help a bunch with that reload speed but as it stands the range on this gun has absolutely been neutered" but the reload speed side by side with and without speed reload is barely noticeable. so.....?
It really sucks that one of the current meta builds is The Last Word + Sniper. That setup was something I had always used since year 1, and when it was nerfed for TTK, I was fine with it since TLW was still great for people who were able to snipe. Now it got buffed and sniping also got a whole lot more popular. I no longer feel like a special little snowflake.
Same here. I've been using nothing but the Mida since early House of Wolves, and now all of a sudden people think it's OP. The sad part is that it'll probably see an undeserved nerf sometime soon.
+Sean Micalizzi Exactly, I got Mida during early House of Wolves, and it was great. I don't know why people think it's OP. It requires more skill than most other exotic weapons in Destiny.
+Kyrodu N. Same. But I often switched loadouts between TLW + sniper and MIDA + a Fusion rifle or Sidearm. Now I no longer feel special since nearly everyone in every match uses the MIDA now, whereas in Y1 you'd maybe see one or two MIDAs ever other match or so. It was at a perfect spot in Y1 and I'm sure it'll get nerfed. And when it comes to sniping, it's more or less the same deal. It's so easy now that anyone can do it without much effort.
+Sean Micalizzi same, it hasn't changed at all since then and wasn't a number 1 choice weapon then. if it wasn't worthy of a nerf then it shouldn't receive one now.
What I don't understand is the range nerf. Ace of Spades is exactly in the same archetype of Hand Cannons and its range is just sooooooo huge when compared to Hawkmoon's. I just don't understand. Are you supposed to count on the lucky bullets to make up for the lack of range ? If so, it's dumb. Hawkmoon users should feel lucky sometimes over a range that is comparable to AoS' range, not have to resort purely on luck to win fights.
+Hanayo Asa the gun was broken, when i played destiny there was no reason to use another handcannon other than hawkmoon in ttk. I hated that crap it didnt feel right.
No. The whole HC class was dead in TTK (aka 2.0) because of the bloom. Hawkmoon made up for it with the lucky bullets, but that's it. It wasn't a great choice of a weapon anyway, let's say it was the least worst HC in the game. Now, though ? It's just.. average. It's good as in average. That's it. An Exotic should never feel that average. And it's a big gripe I have against most of the TTK Exotics. They feel average. Not specials at all. Hell, I think my Nirwen's Mercy (the vendor one) feels more Exotic than most of the TTK Exotics.
+Hanayo Asa TBH it feels like they just want to make sure no one gets butthurt over a "year 2 thorn" or just a weapon that outshines others, so they made all exotics shit and some only slightly better than others, a.k.a MIDA, and they still managed to fuck that up.
Hanayo Asa no dont defend the gun, it was a total crutch and needed to be nerfed. No balance = shit play thats why all the competitive players in destiny left the game and now its full of noobs
LiquidSharingan In the HC Exotics department: TLW needs to be nerfed to oblivion when you ADS, like a debuff to the damage output when ADSing. That would be perfect. TLW is meant to be hip fired. If it was meant to be ADSed, it would be called TFC. Speaking of.. TFC. It's pretty good now. I don't see any problems with it. Maybe change the Deadeye perk so it has the Third Eye perk for free. I mean, when the whole gun revolves around ADSing.. You want to have the radar always on, right ? Hawkmoon needs to have its range buffed. That's it. Not much else. The lucky bullets don't need to be buffed to their former glory. AoS is spot on. Nothing needs to be changed about it, except maybe the Firefly bug that sometimes crashes the game, but that's something else.. Finally Thorn.. Needs to be changed, period. No matter how you handle it, Mark of the Devourer will be OP. The perk itself needs to be changed to do something else.
+Planet Helix the Eirine RR4 Omolon Sniper Rifle could roll with LitC, thats what was nerfed to proc on precision, because before that, it could one shot body in the crucible because of its high impact.
what a depressing review. one of my first weapons I ever earned. you could always count on ol' hawkmoon, no matter the meta. Seems those days are over.
+Big Weld I've done just as well with Hawkmoon as TLW or Doctrine or Hawksaw or MIDA. It's still a good weapon, just isn't the ! shot possibility it used to be.
+k0hum I have a gut feeling that the stromcaller subclass will be next. I main warlock and I use the Stormtrance effectibely and this IB everyone in my party was complaining that Stormcallers were "OP" I also received hate mail from people I've killed. Theie grenades suck and their melee isn't as useful as the Sunsinger's so how are they OP. I just wish that Bungie would end this nerf mentality and instead buff weaponw to be on par with others
I think in its current state the ace of spades outperforms the hawkmoon in pve, because of its ammo saving perk, firefly and the much better range. It also has a higher aimassist which makes it easier to land those rapid headshots in pve situtions. But overall i think that a scout with some good pve-roll is the better choice nowadays! (Hungjury 4 example!) Sorry for the potato english :P
Easy fix: When you run out of primary ammo in PvE, use up all of your special ammo. After a while, a few mags should fall out of ether and you'll be good.
+Patrick Casey - I'm curious to see what you think about Baby Hawkmoon (Eyasluna), as well as a Hand Cannon that no one talks about: the Gaheris-D (has similar stats as our beloved Red Hand IX)
Thats what I love about the first cure. Even putting aside the refill perk, you still get a high reserve of 83. Couple that with the aoife rua the gunsmith sold with surplus, I never run low on ammo with it.
Couldn't agree more, this weapon could be one of the best, most balanced weapons in the game if it wan't for the ammo capacity nerf. I pulled this out of the vault the other day and forgot how good it was until I started running out of ammo when running strikes. The range nerf was needed because it was overpowered in that department.
You mentioned that The First Curse is one of the few hand cannons that doesn't have ammo problems, because of its perks. Well, that's not the only reason for that. Next time you use TFC, check the ammo when you're full up. It holds 91 shots total. By default. With no bonus ammo armor pieces. That's 30 or so more than Hawkmoon, or an extra 50%. It's like Y1 HC reserves and it feels so good because of it.
I personally found Hawkmoon to be the lesser of three evils when Handcannon's (or exotic HC's to be exact) ruled the crucible, yet now it seems to have been the one to take the biggest hit. TLW is still a go-to weapon in today's game while Thorn is also making a comeback in regular PVP. Hawkmoon on the other hand has been nerfed into oblivion and to the point you're seen as crazy for using it in any serious playlist in PVE (Raids, Nightfalls etc) or PVP (Trials & Iron Banner). Its such a shame Bungie have done this to my absolute favourite year one weapon, I juts hope it can some day get back to something close to the glory days, not massively over powered, but up there with the likes of MIDA and other weapons that are chosen without a doubt in the players mind that they can use the gun and not feel as though they're putting themselves at a disadvantage. Please Bungo, give us back our beloved Hawkmoon!
this review feels almost emotional. and it's over a gun in a game. it's kind of heartwarming actually to know how attached people are with destiny. good stuff
I wanted the Hawkmoon more than the Gjallarhorn in year 1 and didn't get one until TTK dropped and they gave me a last year's model consolation prize from the Cryptarch. Hand cannons were my most used primary prior to TTK. Now my Hawkmoon sits in my vault, because I have at least 3 legendary hand cannons that perform than it, along with TLW that still rips people up like it never heard of any nerfs.
+Dustyn Glynn Not really. I'm easily going on top of the match with a SUROS scout rifle and a chaperone, the meta has no impact on my loadout and isn't really destroying the effectiveness of it the way the thorn did.
Don't think so, everyone ran Thorn because it was easy and overpowered, everyone runs MIDA because it's awesome, at the correct range it's really good and the sipped boost guarantees you will escape any confrontation. Don't get it confused just because everyone uses a weapon doesn't mean it's overpowered. And as for last word, it's the same thing, just because everyone uses it doesn't mean it's overpowered. The crucible, dare I say it, is pretty much balanced right now, I don't see pulses destroying autos in auto rifle range, and vice versa, don't see pulses destroying scouts in scout rifle range, and vice verse, etc.
+MandoEmmm honestly, no one ive asked can tell me why they like mida. the only thing i get sometimes is its fast. nothing game breaking. people just complain cuz they cant play the game well enough, so they blame it on the weapons. shotguns and thorn definitely used to rule crucible. but now there is nothing that i could say gives one player an edge over the other, besides skill and playstyle.
I think you need to revisit the Accurized Ballistics vs Aggressive Ballistics suggestion. The problem with magic disappearing bullets goes away w/Accurized. I noticed the slightest right pull, but it's easier to control because of the thumb motion in correcting an upwards-right pull is very natural and more precision hits land at mid range that would otherwise miss with Aggressive. It's still an excellent Crucible gun in the right hands.
The worst part is that they not only made the accuracy worse, they made guardians more elusive at the same time. Bringing in shadestep and the twilight garrison really makes guardians hard to hit with a hand cannon.
Actually is it real. I've had back to back double lucky stacks. On shot did 132 damage to the head , the other did 87 to the body. 1 lucky bullet does 108 to the head and 72 to the body.
After various testing, in crucible rumble and pve, I can completely confirm to say it's just a bug, trust me i don't know why i bothered doing it, but hey I like proving a point
All great points about the changes that are needed. I understand that it's range was nerfed, partly because the first curse is taking that role of the long range hand cannon. I also like the finer points, in that the accuracy and ammo reserves should be improved. It would make the gun more competitive, without making it seems like you're forced to use it, since it's so good.
You know, with all the balance patches and weapon rejiggerings, I feel like something has come out of it all that few games I've played ever made. Legends, not just within the lore, but in the weapons' history. A few years from now, old hand Playstation players could share stories of their old Hawkmoon, Y1 players can tell tales of the beastly Gjallerhorn, and the demon Thorn and it's only equal, the Red Death. I actually kind of like that about Destiny, even though (or probably because) I personally don't do PvP all that often. Has anyone else had a similar experience, or m I just waxing poetic for no reason?
So i bought Hawkmoon and I shit you not, on my first strike run with it, used a 3 of coins and had Imago Loop drop (Nexus Mind). It actually dropped with pretty good perks, including luck in the chamber (dont remember all the other ones, im at work right now). Light is pretty good at 292 (compared to 280 for Hawkmoon but I can Imbue so light isnt a factor). Im kinda at a loss on wich I prefer. Although itll probably be Imago Loop in the long run (leaves my Exotic slot open), Im curious to see wich do people tend to prefer in general: The Hawkmoon or Imago Loop?
The flavor text and perk rolls on the item card for my Hawkmoon is bugged... It shows the Holding Aces flavor text twice... anyone else experiencing this since the weapon update?
Love this weapon. It's my go to primary with the Gunslinger subclass along with the Bones of Eao -maxes my play style capabilities hardcore. Digging this amazing hand cannon.
You know, there needs to be a crucible playlist that makes any weapon, armor, sub class, etc, revert to BEFORE patch 2.0, and when you exit that playlist it goes back to its current patch. It would be really fun for those people who miss year 1 and all of its glory. It would be fun for Xbox users to experience hawkmoon when it was on PlayStation! No one can say they haven't missed the thorn reigning in crucible from time to time. I've said that to my friends and they agree with me. So what if things are stupid and OP again? It would be fun for shotguns to have stupid range and maybe it would stop people complaining about the way current range is? This would be some fun nostalgia for all those year 1 players and have year 2 players go into that playlist and be like, "*This was year 1? Damn I missed out! I wish I got Destiny MUCH sooner!*" It would be VERY hard to create but everyone would love it! It would make more people buy Destiny to experience year 1 crucible and, without a doubt, make year 1 veterans play Destiny again! :D I don't see this happening anytime soon but it would AMAZING if Bungie was to add this in! :D
So something has been on my mind. Remember those solar and void thunderlord variants we saw in the taken king trailers? What ever happened to them? Where did they go? Will they be added in to ttk like twilight garrison?
Nobody ever mentions The Vanity. It can hold 103 reserve ammo with a hand cannon chest piece and it is my baby. I have one with third eye, outlaw, and rifled barrel. As well as one with LitC, firefly, and rifled barrel. If you are looking for a good HC in the taken kind The Vanity is probably your best bet.
I miss the old school hawkmoon. I really miss that 223 super lucky bullet, I've only had it happen 3 times maybe 4 though. Now you can't even get a 165 bullet.
+Poached Vaninho ...Or until Bungie finds a way to balance PvP without making a single gun (or a few) everyone's go-to & (no one cares about this anymore but..) until they get their heads together and give us a good story. :/
I'm current with no exotics state right now. They are either a slight leap above legendary or slightly above that. The one thing that didn't make Destiny stale is the exotic weapons, but they are all either a shadow of their former selfs, or they remained the same.
I've had the hawkmoon for quite a while now. Pre-nerf hawkmoon was a good, consistent gun to use in PvE and PvP. With the nerf that destroyed this gun's consistency, it has been less useful in PvE and PvP. A nerf was only implemented because of all the complaining and nagging but, because of the nerf placed on hawkmoon, it really isn't capable of keeping up with other hand cannons or any weapon type. With the recent buff placed on hawkmoon, many hand cannons received a boost giving them the edge over an exotic hand cannon which was once a great weapon inside PvP and PvE. I'm not here saying bump its range back up by 20 but, if that is what is necessary then do it. When Bungie nerfs weapons, they don't think about how they perform in PvE. How is anyone supposed to do the raid with a now almost useless hand cannon?
I don't understand why Bungie continued to screw with Hawkmoon's accuracy and stability. Yes, I had a Hawkoon in the early days when it could out-snipe sniper rifles with minimal recoil and fully agree that was massively overpowered way back in those early days, but they've brought that under control long ago and continued way beyond what was necessary since then. The key problem in the heyday of Thorn and TLW was that the RANGE of exotic hand cannons was way too strong, allowing them to kill scout rifle wielders at scout rifle range. This was finally addressed after 6 or 7 months of agony in the Crucible, yet Bungie added in a new problem of destroying accuracy and stability of hand cannons for no reason. Then they somewhat addressed this recently, but not without nerfing Hawkoon again unnecessarily. Why, Bungie?
it's not just the range. what players and bungie themselves doesn't realize, is that what made exotic hand cannons OP are damage increasing barrel perks on top of exotic perks that all focus on bonus damage.
Dire Goose see, you don't get it... all three hand cannons have barrel perks that increases their base damage, Aggressive Ballistics, Field Choke and Accurized Ballistics.. used to be +10% for AB, and 5% for FC and AccurizedB.. this alone increases the base damage of the exotic hand cannons one tier above their supposed archetype. Thorn which is a low impact, high fire rate hand cannon is doing the same damage as hand cannons on the same archetype as Eyasluna, which is a higher impact, lower fire rate hc. On top of that all three hand cannons have exotic perks that adds bonus damage.. thorn used to have 7 for 6 ticks (+42); the last word has +20% on hipfire +5% more precision multiplier, and hawkmoon have 3 bullet out of 12 dealing +33% damage. While legendary hand cannons on the other hand only have access to iron sights, none of which adds bonus damage, and the only way legendary hand cannons can have bonus damage perks is through Luck in thr Chamber and Final round, which is impossible to get now. There was a huge gap in performance between the exotic hand cannons and legendary hand cannons because of this damage stacking perks on exotic hand cannons. I'm not saying you are dumb or anything but when guys like you tell bungie what to do regarding these weapons, call them out on how to balance them, when you for yourself don't understand or can't even analyze or see what makes the gun strong, it just breaks the game even more.
I think the crucible is balanced as it is right now, there are guns that are being used a lot more than others but just because everyone uses them doesn't mean they're overpowered, right now I don't find a single weapon that can beat another gun of a different archetype in that weapons effective range, so I don't see pulse rifles destroying autos and scouts in their respective effective range and same for vice versa, right now the best thing to do is pick out your favorite weapon and find the range that works best for that archetype. Listen to the last two episodes of Crucible Radio, I totally agree with everything they talked about.
The innacuracy where you see your shots landing but not doing damage are just related to how the game is messed up right now, same happens to Thorn and Last Word, except those guns can redeem those misses since Thorn can kill with 3 body shots due to DoT (outside of maxed Titan armor), and TLW's rate of fire allows for quicker DPS at close range. Since Hawkmoon's mojo is in the LitC rounds, that kinda means that if the shot doesn't connect when the rounds are procced, you get screwed. Let us wait and see to what is actually gonna happen once Bungie addresses the current connection problems. PS.: I think the Eyasluna might end up being a better overall choice, as it's range remains unchanged.
So sad what they did to this once masterpiece. I got my first one during Dark Below after coming in tops of a Control match. It was so unbelievable that the guy who topped the OTHER team sent me a congrats message for getting it! Now, I want to cry for the poor thing.
With current ammo problems I feel they need to boost primary ammo drop rates. As it is I run out of ammo often on all weapon types from time to time, and I find myself running around with my special or heavy weapon longer than my hand cannon because I run out of ammo and no primary drops for like 10 minutes. The ammo drop rate seems to be lower with hand cannons. Good job Bungie, you continue to kill your game little by little after starting with the first nerf to auto rifles.
to the ammo thing, i say leave ammo the way it is and increase pve damage. hand cannons are supposed to be skill weapons but i feel they simply cant kill as many foes with the ammo given compared to all other primaries except maybe auto rifles. if they make getting those critical shot worth it in pve then they can leave the ammo situation alone. this will make hand cannons the weapon skilled shooters use in pve. as for pvp, besides last word and once again thorn i think they are fine where they are. i know hawkmoon is not what it was but what it was was unfair. i like where hawkmoon is right now since it enhances that medium range play style like exotics should. seriously though last word needs to be turned into like a hand cannon with a shotgun range its ridiculous.
Il that this is out of context, but I was thinking about a 4th CLASS? It would be the Mechanic or Field Engineer. The solar subclass: bullet master ( cuz relation to bullets? Idk go along whit it) its melee is a wrench that has molten iron on it, and does DOT. His super is the flaming chain gun. He pours molten iron into his summoned chain gun. Advantages: fast TTK, really high ROF, long duration. Disadvantages: slow movement, charge up time before it starts firing (sorta like the turret) and yeah thats the solar! The void subclass: shield master: his melee stands out! He takes out a wrench, with void energy but is made to be thrown to allies for instant health regen! Melee that is support, that seems cool to me. His grenade is a landmine. A capsule on his left arm that throws a trip mine! If an enemy gets near it, it will activate and suppress him with a little damage ( Field engineer exclusive grenade ). His super is the ballistic shield ( still not sure what to call it. He projects
He projects a void shield that is the height of a guardian and is three guardians long, but has less health than ward of dawn so that he can slowly move around with it! Advantages: can tank a tether, still 2 golden gun shots and a nova bomb ( but leaves him on low health and exposed. You can do a push with the shield that one shots enemies and returns 5% of the shield's health back. The less damages the shield takes, the better at the end of the super time: he throws the shield like an explosive: at full health for the shield, explosion is half the size of nova bomb. Lowest amount of shield? Just like a mini suppressor grenade without the suppressing effects. Disadvantages: very slow movement and slightly slower turning speed, exposure to the back of you, bullets will eventually break the shield. One thing i am not sure to add is that since its like protection, what if it would not deactivate like ward of dawn? Idk but moving on, the arc subclass! Speed wielder: his melee is again,
+Vincent Girard is an electrified wrench that if hits an enemy, will automatically chain the nearest enemy( the wrench, not the lightning ) and if a successful kill, you gain max agility for 5 to 8 seconds and you allies get +1 agility for 10 seconds. His super is ( i had two ideas for the super) first idea: ethereal enhancement: it gives you a super boost of speed to you and nearby allies! Advantages: if enemies gets close it electrifies them for two ticks if 150 damage. All your movements are extremely quick ( you run 5x faster ) and you gain insane quickdraw, reload, snapshot, rof on every gun and a boost to accuracy. Disadvantages: your quick movement might make you overshoot and run straight into enemy territory, you gets a slow damage over time of 5 damage per second and super lasts 10 seconds. A quick ability to press the advantage. 2nd idea: better than a wrench!: you take your wrench and it projects a sword twice the size and width of a normal sword. Not that much else to say
+Vincent Girard please leave your opinion, this took me quite the time to think about it! I would love to see a fourth class into the game. And you would be allowed to create a fourth guardian plus the class item are glasses on their head.
As an Xbox player I got maybe 2 weeks of the "old hawkmoon" and it was glorious. Lol. This new hawkmoon is still my go to primary in PvP but like you mentioned, it's a shell of its former self. Def needs a range adjustment. Most importantly, as you showed in the video, a lot of the bullets just don't register as hits sometimes. That needs to be looked at by Bungie.
I have seen an up rise of the Multi tool since the latest patch. Every time Bungie tries to fix something i feel like a slight mistake they make is that they nerf a weapon into the ground and buff the other. It's a cycle that never stops, Auto rifles and fusion rifles to pulse rifles to hand canons - now scout rifles. Wonder when the next weapon "re-balance" will be.
I love how literally no one complained about Hawkmoon but they had to nerf it anyway.
shoot I complained.
They nerfed it so the Xbox players could never experience the true power of Hawkmoon.
+Specktacular4456 they nerfed it cause xbox players were complaining first week they got it.
rafael figueroa They announced a nerf before it was even on Xbox, don't be blaming us :L
+FullMetalBiscuit Probably because Greg is a wizard with it.
What do you guys think of everybody in crucible using the Mida all the time?
every time I get killed by it I die a little inside 😵😵😵
+nohomo ibetyoukissgirlsfgt I know I can't wait
***** slot of people want invective to be needed to what do you think?
+nohomo ibetyoukissgirlsfgt xur sold it last weekend you didn't get one ?
+vTwins really all I see is the mida like everyone I know bought it from xur
its funny but hawkmoons little brother eyasluna, with the right rolls can out perform hawkmoon. and that makes me sad 😞
They're probably going to berf that next :(
Not trying to sound like a prick but bungie always destroys exotics whenever they become popular. It's funny that bungie went from halo which was amazingly balanced to having all weapon archetypes complete shit in destiny and to make it worse the lag is to terrible.
+Jonathan martinez how many weapons did halo have to balance? there's your answer
I will admit that I did use Thorn in ToO but I did it to combat other users (most likely the excuse of every other user) Remember this, every effect has a cause.
simplicity is what made halo balanced destiny has two many variables tracking nades , different weapons, aim assist values movement etc.
I'm early let me make a joke
Destiny's weapon balance.
Or yourself after 2.0
When are you coming to year two :(
+Theraginhoundoom ha it took me a while to get it but I agree hahahaha
+Theraginhoundoom no he was still good for the taken king story
+First curse Your trash I dismantled your ass
I miss those days.. Hawkmoon year 1 was absolutely killing it.
The slow-mo of hawkmoons shots landing (5:03) was due to jump landing recovery, not that the gun has more problems due to patch.
The Hand Cannon buff made the Last Word OP again. Why didnt Bungie see this through...
last word is not OP, the nerf on shotguns and fusion rifles, and the non existent buff on autorifles makes you think it's OP, it's just that any other weapon that could reliably shutdown TLW got nerfed. ADS accuracy means nothing for TLW because hipfire accuracy is better than aimed even at further ranges.
lol last word is nowhere near OP. it has abysmal range and sometimes bullets will miss (like other HCs)
+Rick C You just explained why IT IS OP.
+Triablos Nope.
+Jack Allen compelling argument you have there.
5:40 to help with that problem i find that you can land shots while constantly firing, you got to pull it down a bit while firing in a row to get more hits
Not for anything, but wouldn't less ammo for primary weapons make you more likely to actually use your secondary and heavy?
RIP Handcannons, your range will be missed
Is it still possible to 2 tap someone with Hawkmoon? If im not mistaken they nerfed the damage on the lucky bullets so that it can only 2 tap if both bullets are lucky bullets, although correct me if im wrong.
Remember the days where all the First Curse reviews said "If you want to use an exotic hand cannon like this, you might as well be using the Hawkmoon."
I lol'd at 3:43 when the Taken just dissapeared after you scoped !
What is it like compared to similar hand cannons like the ace of spades?
guys did I hear correctly @1:45, "I would love to recommend using one of the other perks since speed reload does help a bunch with that reload speed but as it stands the range on this gun has absolutely been neutered" but the reload speed side by side with and without speed reload is barely noticeable. so.....?
rest in peace hawkawesome... now you're just a pigeon that recently ran into a window.
+Sean Micalizzi I suppose that says something about using the community as a source of information. Popularity + Effectiveness doesn't always = OP.
Is this still worth using in the Crucible?
LiquidSharingan In the HC Exotics department:
TLW needs to be nerfed to oblivion when you ADS, like a debuff to the damage output when ADSing.
The perk itself needs to be changed to do something else.
doesn't Luck in the Chamber bonus only apply to precision shots? i thought it was changed on the 2.1 update.
That was for snipers.
no
it was final round
That's just on snipers
+Planet Helix the Eirine RR4 Omolon Sniper Rifle could roll with LitC, thats what was nerfed to proc on precision, because before that, it could one shot body in the crucible because of its high impact.
what a depressing review.
one of my first weapons I ever earned. you could always count on ol' hawkmoon, no matter the meta. Seems those days are over.
+Big Weld well the gun is still great tho
+nohomo ibetyoukissgirlsfgt even if you get the gun because of rng, you still need to complete activities to get rewards, so, yes, EARNED
Yep. Seems like everything eventually gets nerfed in destiny.
When will I be brought forward to year 2?!
Doesn't LitC only proc on Crits now? Or is that just for snipers? Probably worth reiterating if so.
Every time you say "your guide" at the end of the video I always perfectly say "to the destiny universe"
Would you rather use Ace of Spades or Hawkmoon for general PVE?
I think in its current state the ace of spades outperforms the hawkmoon in pve, because of its ammo saving perk, firefly and the much better range. It also has a higher aimassist which makes it easier to land those rapid headshots in pve situtions. But overall i think that a scout with some good pve-roll is the better choice nowadays! (Hungjury 4 example!)
Sorry for the potato english :P
Just skip both and sell your soul to the gods of the last word. Easier to use and kills in probably one third the time.
Is it wise to use hand canon and sniper in loaded or shotgun just incase somone is too close (pvp)
Damm that 5k plus damage while mine hits for700 for headshot
Thats what I love about the first cure. Even putting aside the refill perk, you still get a high reserve of 83. Couple that with the aoife rua the gunsmith sold with surplus, I never run low on ammo with it.
What do you think the chances are if the range being increased back to something worthy
"dear bungie, why does my eyasluna have better stats than my hawkmoon? -sincerely, a pissed off year 1 guardian."
Whats the best way to get good armor with high light without doing raids and nightfall? I'm 295 light and cant move :(
You mentioned that The First Curse is one of the few hand cannons that doesn't have ammo problems, because of its perks.
Whenever I kill an enemy with the Hawkmoon, even in PvE, I shout CA-CAW into the mic. My friends don't like playing with me that much XD
Rest in peace, Hawkmoon. Greatest ally you had since the day it's been release. Bane to the Thorn. Etc. lol
Ohhh how much I missed my old Hawkmoon... ;-;
Please Bungo, give us back our beloved Hawkmoon!
this review feels almost emotional. and it's over a gun in a game. it's kind of heartwarming actually to know how attached people are with destiny. good stuff
What mission where you at 2:30!
So emotional at the end. 😭I miss you hawkmoon!!!!!
Heck, Im having ammo problems with my scoutrifle, but on the other hand having a fully automatic scoutrifle realy makes that ammo "fly away"...
Ace of spades still has a lot of range still?
the meta multi-tool, excuse me, mida multi-tool is starting to become the new thorn... so there is an exotic on top of them all
+Dustyn Glynn Not really. I'm easily going on top of the match with a SUROS scout rifle and a chaperone, the meta has no impact on my loadout and isn't really destroying the effectiveness of it the way the thorn did.
+Dill Pickus it's more of the fact that most of the time I get into a match, I see at least 3 on my team or the enemy team or both
Don't think so, everyone ran Thorn because it was easy and overpowered, everyone runs MIDA because it's awesome, at the correct range it's really good and the sipped boost guarantees you will escape any confrontation.
+Mega Bakufun he's making some sense. But I can't agree with everything
Can you confirm if Hawkmoon is bugged to have a fourth bullet that does bonus damage w/o the sound effect? Or is that just a myth?
whoever told you that is lying
+Jon Henderson yeah it's not true but there's a glitch ( at least in my game) that shows hawkmoons perk chain with 4 lucky bullets
+Arnav Jalan that's just on the description of the gun, there aren't actually 4 lucky bullets sadly
I RLY loved my hawkmoon when I first got it during HoW. I got one of my best crucible matches with it. *sigh* I'll miss you good friend
Is eyasluna better than hawkmoon now
this was a great review. pretty much spot on. (y)
yes
you sir, are a genius
Please bungie!
So something has been on my mind. Remember those solar and void thunderlord variants we saw in the taken king trailers? What ever happened to them? Where did they go? Will they be added in to ttk like twilight garrison?
Once a beloved gun and now shattered! I loved this gun and now its just wasted...Rip Hawkmoon, you will resurected one day...
Man, I remember getting my first hawkmoon on the vault of glass's chest... ah the good times.
I loved hawkmoon it was my first exotic ever in year 1, it was so amazing in both pvp and pve and now its just a shadow of what it once was
Someone tell me what's up with this sidearm thing people are saying, I'm confused??????
Sigh...RIP Hawkmoon. I used to love terrorizing Crucible with you. Never again though!
RIP Hawkmoon, you were my favourite weapon since you dropped, now they killed you.
I'm not touching this game until hand cannons are returned to their former glory.
+Poached Vaninho ...Or until Bungie finds a way to balance PvP without making a single gun (or a few) everyone's go-to & (no one cares about this anymore but..) until they get their heads together and give us a good story. :/
+iT's THE Newb destiny is dying (finally) lets pray that bungie doesn't shit all over destiny 2
Please please watch this with cc on. At one point around the 2 min 40 sec section, the cc thinks you say handcannons went through rape rebalancing.
Could you give your thoughts on the Year 2 Mida Multi-Tool and if it changed from its year one stats? (If you would reply, that would make my day!)
My absolute favorite gun and I do agree the bloom makes it hard to aim.
I'm current with no exotics state right now. They are either a slight leap above legendary or slightly above that. The one thing that didn't make Destiny stale is the exotic weapons, but they are all either a shadow of their former selfs, or they remained the same.
I'm happy with no exotics current state*
I was using Hawkmoon over the weekend and I still like it 8( Really can't find a set up I love atm though.
This gun is just a shadow of its former self.
Edit: Holy crap, I wrote that before you said it in the video.
it hurts to see hawkmoon in its current state, makes me shed a tear
I never got to experience the one taps of hawkmoon :( and seriously though, Hawkmoon went back to how hand cannons were on the 2.0 update
are there even any exotic scouts? i seriously forgot...
ofcourse! MIDA! i should have known, sorry...
+FrostB1teN1nja Here's a comparison: db.planetdestiny.com/items/weapons/primary/scout?tier=16
+PlanetDestiny wooow, i only got one... i'm dissapointed in me!
+FrostB1teN1nja Tlaloc, warlock exclusive
hand cannons just make me sad now... rest in pieces!
+Rick C Uh... what?
There's a Glitch with its perks it doesn't effect the gun but when you hover over the weapon it shows two Holding aces icons.
1:40 Handcannons in a nutshell. Give us out accuracy back but reduce range.
After watching this review is decided to use aggressive ballistics. I always wondered why Hawkmoon felt so unstable during year 2
I thought that the hawkmoon has now 4 bullets that causes considerable damage???
The end of this video turned more into an obituary than anything else
Nice Datto reference lol and yes, Hawkmoon is definitely not what it used to be
Thank you for the review. I'll have another look at Hawkmoon. It was my first ttk exotic and hand canon. Though it has to fight with my judith now
to the ammo thing, i say leave ammo the way it is and increase pve damage. hand cannons are supposed to be skill weapons but i feel they simply cant kill as many foes with the ammo given compared to all other primaries except maybe auto rifles. if they make getting those critical shot worth it in pve then they can leave the ammo situation alone. this will make hand cannons the weapon skilled shooters use in pve.
as for pvp, besides last word and once again thorn i think they are fine where they are. i know hawkmoon is not what it was but what it was was unfair. i like where hawkmoon is right now since it enhances that medium range play style like exotics should. seriously though last word needs to be turned into like a hand cannon with a shotgun range its ridiculous.
You guys. Hawkmoon is good again. *And it's sweeeeet sweet sweet victory yeaah!*
This is the only review we agreed on everything. And i mean everything. great job on this video
Thankfully bungie is undoing the hand cannon ammo capacity change from 2.0 here soon
This gun never dropped for me when I use to play this game. RIP hawk moon. Oh how I miss out using you. :(
I miss the vanilla Hawkmoon ;(
