    Sweetie, I’ve never had a problem with the seeds... because I just cut off the buds before they make the seeds. It’s really really easy and no more seeds ever, anywhere. I ❤️ Areca Palms. That’s for the video. Better off to ask your neighbor if you can have one of the “pups” growing at the base. Just take off a small new growth with a sharp spade or something, just make sure you have some roots on it. Give it a bit of root hormone and plant it. Make sure it gets plenty of water until it grows enough roots to sustain itself for longer periods. And, no, they do not like the cold at all. They say zones 10-11 but I’m in zone 9 FL. and they do just fine here, no problems as long as there is no frost. I think zone 8 and above will be a challenge because they do get frost up there. Personally, I try to have plants that do well in my zone, because taking them in and out in the winter or having to cover them... ugh. Too. Much work, I’m lazy.

    Mine all died off. Not sure what killed them but I replaced that mess with more banana plants! The real areca palm does not form clusters, what you have we called Yellow Butterfly palm.

    Why don't you do an "Areca Palm seed give away". Where I live I have to pay 20 euro's for a small plant.(just looked it up). Can this palm tolerate cold?

      They can tolerate light frost at night, only if the day is sunny and well above freezing. If your climate is overcast, cold and wet then forget about growing one.

    I have a huge one in my yard. How can I take a piece of it and replant it in .y back yard???? They're very expensive to buy ... a 3 foot one is around $150... rather just use mine to try and make another

    You need an iron filter on your well water irrigation. White rock and cement has horrible rust stains.

    Hello I have a question.... Do you know if Areca Palms can live outside in North Carolina? I was thinking about getting one for the house to purify the air indoors, but if it gets too big I would like to transfer it outside if possible. Thank you and nice vid :)

    • @FOX6ify
      @FOX6ify 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exotic Tropical Houseplants how many times a week do you water them? I have a majesty palm right now and I water it about every four days. I'm new to palms but it was cheap so I thought why not. It has a little brown tipping so it could need more water :/

    • @billwilson5341
      @billwilson5341 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      FOX6ify: Search "Areca palm" + "North Carolina"
      You will see that, yes, they can grow in North Carolina.

      Seems to be some confusion here amongst the commentors. I am just about positive that Chrysalidocarpus (Areca) palms will not live outside year round ANYWHERE in NC. Probably only South Florida and Hawaii in the 50 states

    • @timmillan6701
      @timmillan6701 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Guess that should be Dypsis now - sorry, I grew up with Chrysalidocarpus. But changing the name did nothing to increase the hardiness!

      They will not survive a freeze, grow them in a pot and bring them in during the winter.
