As our sacred holiday evening draws to a close let’s all take a moment to reflect upon and appreciate that once again the Bat-mobile lost a wheel and the Joker got away.
Well there's a section in the middle this kind of like what a horn section in a big band might play if they were doing a block chord solo or something.... None of it was planned except for the head, of course, I didn't really anticipate doing a holiday tune, I usually never do...
And that’s what we do! It’s fun to revisit the Christmas songs each year and see what more can be added to the music. A good way to measure your musical growth. And then put them away on December 26 until the next Christmas time. Loved your freedom and flow!
Cool Tory! When I saw the video picture selected to click on the video, I was like "Oh man, what did she do to her Strandberg??" But then started watching and realized it was a green screen trick, haha!
I think I might even do this on every video from now on.... Just have like a different screen thing on the guitar, I'll probably do it for a while and then get tired of it like everything else
Yeah, considering that this is going to be on for subsequent Christmases etc and it's you know populism on some level, it didn't make much sense to do anything too technical... But the tune itself, that section with the f major to minor thing, it does lend itself to some pretty interesting conventional Bebop playing...
Wow, that was great. I don't know if you get WZUM FM radio out west but over here on the east coast it's playing jazz all the time. Now it has all jazz Christmas music playing. You never know what might tickle someone's fancy and they might here this and check your other music out. Your channel is really looking impressive with lessons, albums, comedy and we're anxiously awaiting the release of the collaboration. I'm sure it will be great! Thank you for the song it's great.
Yeah, I wasn't going to do this, it was a spur of the moment decision, I actually wrote the entire head section just didn't like 10 minutes and then sat and practiced it for a while.... Everything else was just completely made up on the spot. But it does have that kind of quality of being listenable in a popular sense perhaps, maybe, Metro....
@TorySlusher I wouldn't have thought any less of you if you took a pass. Sometimes corny old songs catches people's ear sometimes, it couldn't hurt to see what might happen.

I keep thinking about ways to incorporate the newer things but, when you really analyze what's happening... nothing new is actually going on... And then I just go back to the way I was before, lol.
i'm glad you went against swearing against doing it. very nice. i was watching some joe pass earlier this evening , and hadn't watched him in a while, this seems kinda evocative of what he'd do with a standard, twisting the themes around endlessly. holdsworth chords observed at end, lol
Yeah, things keep getting added to everything else.... I keep going after a way to make more proper jazz music something that's competitive with the other popular guitar genres, but it's kind of a Herculean or near impossible thing it seems....
It has become cliche to say this, but yes, thinking of music like that as a series of etudes it really destroys my life and enjoyment of what I'm trying to do, lol, every once in awhile I go into a frenzy like that though...

You're going to think I'm nuts and I'm afraid you might consider this an insult which is not at all but a compliment but at this tempo along with your playing speed and phrasing, I actually like this pace. I like your other compositions too that are fast paced but this was refreshing and relaxing to my ears. Sometimes it is good to roll it back a little bit and you nailed this song. Speaking of nailing, underneath your guitar pickup, I couldn't help but to notice that Frosty the Snowman was looking a little bit too happy at staring at that reindeer's ass. I think he was thinking about nailing and giving the reindeer a tall cold one. Lol!
Yeah, I might be tempoing kind of quick sometimes.... Really just trying to mix things up I don't want to keep doing the same things, also kind of adding some extra energy and exploring that space, with uptempo all the time.... Sometimes I like to just max out my playing and chops just to keep all that stuff going even if I don't use it constantly...
(sorry for off topic) have you ever reached out to mononeon when it comes to your funk, funk/fusion playing and your drumming? i think he and you would make an interesting duet
