I have said this before, 3 chapters a season is too much, two halves like the baseball season would be a start - first half/second half. I was fine a few years ago when they dropped TA from the game. They could do that and make the XP path more important and in that path we would grind out cards.
It really puts into perspective the wealth of baseball history being left on the table by MLBTS when you play a game like OOTP, which has not just the best of the best, but the “Oh I remember that guy!”-type players that immerse you in that game better. Idk what the legal solution is, I understand not wanting to hash out hundreds of separate NIL negotiations with ex players. Whether it’s some form of collective though or what, probably the players AND MLBTS have to be more proactive about getting more names in.
Yeah they do. I just have no desire to go through the sludge of TA all over again. People are saying they’ve made it easier … I don’t see it. I thought it was cool when they gave you tons of XP playing through the Conquest maps and there were multiple conquests for East, West , Central. I basically finished TA doing the maps. No exchanges, I did all the division extreme moments but didn’t do the extreme Showdown on that one. Idk, I’m just kinda bored with the game. I had a feeling the drop after the all star break would feel anti-climactic no matter what. Idk, I’m sure I’ll bang it out before Season 3🤷🏻♂️
Thx for another great video. I think a key point here is how can they make more cards playable by the meta. Contact hitters don’t usually fit meta because they don’t hit it 450. Defensive only players have no use. Sinker, cutter, outlier, etc. You say you don’t want realism but how do you make legends of different eras who don’t fit meta viable. Gameplay needs to change. Bigger stadiums, bigger infields, make defense matter. Second, fix so sinker/cutter and outlier don’t matter as much. Finally, no one is going to like this but for SDS to generate the most revenue the need to put best meta cards behind packs and collections. New game modes for different eras would be really cool for those that don’t enjoy the swing/ miss/hr throw 100 mph era.
The one thing thats good about nhl UT is depth of legends/alumni. While we all would love more top end guys, there has to be at least 10 Hall of Very Good type players per team sds should be able to reasonably obtain. Using say the Mets as an example, you could have Gooden, Stawberry,Kevin Mitchell, Aguilera, Mookie, Cone, HoJo, Kingman, Staub etc Doesn't make sense why they couldn't do this for all 30 teams.
I disagree, I think more pitches up to maybe a ball width off the plate or if at least a sliver of the ball is on the plate should be in play to occasionally be called strikes. I'm a WS player but I still run into sweats who don't swing if a pitch is a millimeter off the plate and anything inside the zone gets hammered and it makes pitching very bland imo and actually makes you have to protect with 2 strikes
I have always envisioned MLB as being the ultimate "remember some guys" mode. You could comb through every franchise and at least fill out a 26-man roster of true legends and other fan favorites that fans of that team would be thrilled to see in game. For me, as a Twins fan, the thought of having Jacque Jones, Lew Ford, Corey Koskie, Eddie Guardado, Luis Rivas, Matt Lawton, Eric Milton, Brad Radke, Brian Harper, Greg Gagne, Kent Hrbek, Jack Morris, Rick Aguilera, Shane Mack, Michael Cuddyer, Jason Kubel... I could go on and on... but having all these guys in the game, even as Bronzes or Silvers, would be an absolute blast and would fill out the card collections in a much more interesting way.
Not hating on your comment or anything but the amount of love the Twins have gotten this year is crazy. I built a twins theme team the other day and it’s actually really damn good
@dw1188 for sure. In the current model, that's going to naturally happen. I think the model I'm envisioning though would prevent that because, as I said, you could comb through and do this for *everyone,* and should! So for the Angels fan we're talking the Chone Figgins types or for the Phillies guys like Darren Daulton and Shane Victorino. You could very feasibly fill out a full set for every team like this and *every* fan base would get equal enjoyment instead of kind of being at the whims of SDS and who they decide to give a card to when.
I agree. SDS should try to include every single player who has been an All-Star (whoever allows them of course) Sony should have the extra money after nickel and diming people all year.
I think SDS knows that their followers won’t use theses cards unless you want to use them in a theme team. TA cards are filler cards now. I’m excited for the upcoming 3000 hit program. I hope there’s a 99 Tony Gwynn or a Ricky Henderson that rakes.
They should start giving us cards of players that don’t get 99s. I’m a Yankees fan so for example I’d like to see Austin Wells, Oswaldo Cabrera, Trent Grisham. It would make it easy to have a bunch of cards they have a creativity problem at sds
Idk man, I just miss MLB 17. Do people really need weekly content updates and all these programs on every single game mode. I miss when the cards reflected how the player played IRL. I alluded to this on X, but I think part of the reason there's a legend problem right now is due to SDS being perceived as a "woke" company.
