  • You only need to pressure cook this for 35 mins! This is a re-upload of our recipe because the previous video doesn't come with embedded subtitles.
    If you like Braised Beef Noodles 红烧牛肉面, you must try Roland's recipe. It's not only yummy but also really really easy to cook especially if you have a multi-cooker. Simply just fry the ingredients first and then pressure cook for 35 minutes and you're done. You can use any noodles to go with this dish or even rice.     2 thumb size (30g or 1oz) young ginger (sliced)
    1 bulb garlic (peeled)
    3 shallots (chopped)
    1 cinnamon stick
    1 star anise
    20g (0.7oz) rock sugar
    500g beef shin
    3 tablespoons premium dark soy sauce
    3 tablespoons low sodium light soy sauce
    1/2 tablespoon spicy broad bean paste
    2 bay leaves
    2 stalks spring onion (tied into a knot)
    1/2 tablespoon of Szechuan peppercorns
    1 tablespoon of white peppercorns
    400g daikon
    1L (34 fl oz) water
    2 teaspoons salt
    Some cornstarch solution
    Other ingredients

    I try your recipe today. But use the malays call it 'daging rendang'. The butcher gave me the part with more jelly. My daughter said it soo delicious. Better that my old recipe. This is not your first recipe that I have tried. I have tried few of your recipw. All came out good. Your goreng pisang sooo crunchy.😋😋😋

      You can use a regular ol pressure cooker. I always see old fashioned pressure cookers in second hand stores. I think you can even cook this in a regular pot too, you may just have to adust the cooking time

      You can try using carrots or just skip the vegetable altogether .

      You can also try jicama. It has a similar taste and texture but without the slight bitterness of daikon.

      You might try sambal olek. Rock sugar has a richer taste but regular sugar is fine if that’s all you have.

      Hihi. You can cook this over the stove. Once you’ve completed the part before pressure cooking, bring the sauce to a boil and then turn the heat down to lowest and simmer for about 45 mins to an hour with the lid on. Boil longer if the beef is not tender enough by then. Hope this helps. Happy cooking!
