  • Today I complete cycling the entire East Coast of the USA. In this video I ride from Windsor Locks Connecticut to my home in Northwest Connecticut. It was a beautiful ride with over 30 miles of protected rail trail. Completing this day brings a total of 42 days riding from Key West to the Canadian border.
    By finishing this adventure it shows that we can do whatever we set our minds to at any age. I will be 70 in November and feel great.
    As we age, it's important to remember the value of physical activity. "If you stop moving, pretty soon you WILL stop moving",
    The trip was completed in four segments. Why did I break up the trip into sections??
    I'm retired and in no hurry to do anything.....

    That’s quite an achievement especially taking only 42 days to complete.

    Congratulations Steve on finishing your journey. I've never been to Connecticut but what you showed from the trail was very nice. " And" great to see so many people taking advantage of the multi-use trail. This was a goal to be proud of and I enjoyed watching this series. Take care you two. ✌
    P.S. Of course I look forward to more.

      Hey Doug, Thanks and I hope you're doing well. I'm off the bike for a few weeks nursing a broken rib. Was really looking forward to some foliage rides. Broke a rib while putting my boat up for the season. Oh well, I'll be back at it before too long. Take care and enjoy the nice weather, Steve

      Thank you for the nice comment. It was a great adventure. I am honored that you take the time to watch my videos. Still have a lot to learn about shooting and editing. My most basic task is to look into the lens and stop looking at the screen mounted to the right of the lens. Maybe I should try Casey Neistat glasses (just kidding). I'm going to affix a red arrow on the front of my camera to see if that helps break the bad habit. I refuse to think my problem is because I'm old and loosing my mind. Thanks again, Jan and I enjoy every one of your videos. Take care and stay safe, Steve

    Was this part of the Adventure Cycling Atlantic Coast trail?

    • @steveretiredandcycling
      @steveretiredandcycling  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Tom, only part of it was Adventure Cycling trails. I've found that the Adventure Cycling Coast trail through central and northwest Connecticut is terrible. They apparently don't do enough research to keep you off dangerous and very hilly terrain. I found this to be the case with both the Adventure Cycling and the East Coast Greenway organizations. Therefore, with my own research I've always found the best trails using a combination of those two organizations, Ride With GPS and Google maps. Not that Adventure Cycling isn't valuable but they can't micro analyze every road in the USA to find the best routes. The East Coast Greenway has their own agenda and their route is just plain dangerous in many places such as South Carolina. Overall, I've found that a little research goes a long way. Thanks again and happy cycling, Steve
