What a topical video for me, I just got my openrun pros today. I got them to be able to listen to music/TH-cam after taking a shower (when my ears are too wet to use over-ear or in-ear headphones)
Watching & listening to this with my new openfit air purchased today. Excellent sound, great comfort and LOVE it! Best purchase I've made this year.
I had the idea of these last week lmaoo glad to see someone stole my idea out of my head, patent it, and developed my idea all in a week wow im sueing. They’ll be hearing from my lawyers.
I was hoping for putting music on the headset from my phone but I am glad that they finally have a Bluetooth mode.
Having to download podcasts from iTunes to plop them onto my openswims right now is such a pain.
But isn't music on headphone memory better quality than streamed Bluetooth, especially under water ?
Bluetooth mode doesn't work in the water, according to their website - was the same thing I was really hoping they fixed.

Just ordered a pair. I swam competitively for 12 years including college. I love the workout I get with swimming, but without a team to keep you motivated, it's just too boring. I always thought if I could just listen to some music or something that it would make it tolerable. Here's to getting back into the water!
So does the sound underwater sound different to outside or similar ?
My only gripes with the OpenFit (previous version to the Air) after a year of use are: (1) the touch controls are lacking in versatility (if you allow volume control, you can pause or skip forward, but not skip back ... they need a triple tap option) ... and (2) sometimes sweat will muffle the sound in one or the other ear (no damage to the unit, just temp muffling). Other than that, great sound and comfy.
As someone with hearing damage s shokz have changed my headphone experience greatly.

If someone could tell me why they put an older bone conducting technology in their new open swim pro when the open run pro has newer bone conducting hope that makes sense. I would love somebody. Tell me why they did that.

I do wonder how well they work with earplugs in a construction site. (ie. woodworker around loud machines)
I've been wearing Shokz for a few years starting with the Aeropex bone phones. Believe it or not, they also came with ear plugs. 😊 in theory I'd think you would still be able to hear them due to the fact that bone phones bypass the ear drums.
Now here's the downside to even the best bone phones, without ear plugs anything you're listening to can get drowned out by louder noises around you. I'm not saying you won't hear them, but louder sounds that hit your ear drums will drown out bone conduction. While this can be bad, this is also the reason people buy them because it allows them to be fully alert to their surroundings.
With that said, see if you can sample bone phones at your local Best Buy (or ask a friend that has them to let you try them out). When sampling them, plug your ears. You'll be surprised when you hear them a bit louder. 😁
How do these compare to shokz other models
I might have to get a pair of these actually. I cheaped out on the last pair of underwater headphones and I could never tell what the battery was at, sometimes couldn't figure out how to get it out of bluetooth mode and play mp3s, and of course, they died on me. These are a little more than I would like to pay but, you get what you pay for. And I tell you what, my 30 to 50 minutes swims are _soooooo_ much more enjoyable with music playing in my head!
You could still lose them at any point

I have the OpenRun Pro's and they are pretty nice to have. I might have to get the OpenFit Air's sometime. I have the issue where my head might be a little too big for the OpenRun Pro headphones so they aren't very good for doing tasks where I have to look up.
Hi. Are you sure you didn’t get the pro mini version? They come in two different sizes. If you went with the regular one, i hope new versions also consider other sizes.

one prob with simper - is that my phone is in the locker - so Bluetooth range is poor, so no music
But Justine! How do we send our songs from the Mac to the headphones?
You use the bluetooth connection on your laptop/pc/mac or phone/tablet and even tv set top boxes. When I'm at home I use my bluetooth ear buds/ear phones with my set top box and my computers mostly and sometime my tablets and phone. I hope this helped.

Interesting. I am lil confused about the charging. It has its own charging port. But the EU says all have to have USB C. Does that mean we cannot get those products here?
It only has to be USB-C on the wall-wart side.
@@trevordennis really? Does not make sense. Why did apple had to change the lightning to usb c if it’s only on the wall mounted side?
@@kuzatoraparker1824 They didn't have to legally change the lightning port. They did it because it was already in their road plan and customers were demanding it for quite a while. Lightning only works at USB2 speeds (480mbit/s) and photos and videos were taking forever to get off the device. They already moved the iPads over to USB-C and the iPhones were just following at their own pace. Also, their Apple Watch only has a magnetic charger and that's no issue with the EU either. The EU is focused on the millions of charging bricks ending up in their landfills. Every device was including one in the box and they weren't getting used.

I was initially super excited to see a new OpenSwim, but it's still fundamentally an old-tech solution (MP3) that doesn't mesh with the way most people use their music. For swimming, they need to either figure out how to use bluetooth streaming in the water (relay stations are a bit kludgey, so not sure this is ideal), OR getting Spotify or TH-cam music, or whoever onto the MP3 seamlessly, the second would seem a better solution, so a technology partnership would be a sensible move.
So paying for the headphones, and to use them in the water, you have to pay for a subscription?
