Understandable since he plays so many characters and hasn't really had time to hone in Steve though. You're right about the gambling though, Steve not having a ws2 or df2 launcher is crippling against characters with good high crush

I mean his combos are way easier than in t7 if thats what you mean by execution but otherwise he is definetely weakier than he was in t7, the overall damage reduction on counter hit launchers for t8 affect him a lot but thats just for combos

His awful heat throws or heatsmash that hits once a every six months is literally peanuts compared to the billion dollar life stealing slashes Yoshi has or the keep out explosive wave kazuya has in heat. Steve has no wall carry combo Dmg ch game or mix ups. All he's left with is below average poking and flowcharts even green ranks can predict easily. And the best thing about LH stance is that it can be avoided now 😂. Even the replacement steve got for losing his Ch launchers is gone.
Idk how useful it is but you have access to his while crouching DF2 from flicker. You go into FL while holding back and then roll into a crouch cancel into DF2
he has many auto pilot setups if you know them he is chill only his inputs are giga exhausting easy hardest inputs in the game (outside of max combo dmg)

Is it me or does Steves damage in T8 look kinda lackluster compared to other characters? Almost everyone including gimmicky characters such as Yoshi or Xiaoyu can do 100+ combos and Steve struggles to take 40% with heat and a wall
He can do some things that hurt a lot, but it is tougher to get those opportunities. What doesn’t make sense is that every character seems to do just as much damage.
In a game that's already over tuned they aren't needed all they do is save people that struggle with comebacks, like sure we can bait it out but then it becomes a turtle match to see if they will throw it out. Personally I feel they should only be available in combos if they are going to have them, no way should I hit a player with 2+ hits and that crap beats me out.
Steve is the only time in tekken i have ever tried to pick up a new character and then just drop them. Once you understand just how much effort he is and how truly trash he is, you realize it's just not worth it.
He's not trash lol, you just need to work harder with him than other characters. Super rewarding though if you have good defense, you just can't play mindless offense with him after purple ranks or so.

@chakrashadow3220 Steve is a movement based character, get good with his weaves and reading your opponent and you can dominate. Steve is still A tier, he has the potential to be S tier even if a person is willing to put all of their work into this character. Look at Heera Malik or Shinblade and you'll see that Steve is strong in the right hands
