Many builders are intimidated by that multi-piece body, but it goes together amazingly well. I've always been impressed with the detail for the era of the model. You are going to love building it.
Thank you for watching. I glued the body together last night and you are right. It went together perfectly. I also agree about the detail. Have a great day.
Wow!!! That is a beautiful model, you are a very lucky man, that is a gem and i know when you're done with it it's going to be absolutely awesome. Its like every model you touch comes to life
Thank you very much Ellis. It is a beautiful kit. I have to let you know, I put yellow and black on the 3 window yesterday and I think it's going to look fantastic. I put a coat of Quick Shine on it today, and I'm going to put it on hold for a few weeks. I have some cool ideas for it but I need to order a few things for the lights. Then I think I'll be able to make even the tail lights light up. Thanks again, I'm having a lot of fun with it. Also I'm not sure if you noticed, but the the body I painted for the airbrush video is the roadster drag car. I think it's going to get some flames too. Both are very neat kits.
Yes....Even though it's old and multi piece, if you take your time it will make a Great looking model!!! Your off to a Great start Mark!!! I'll be watching
Thanks for following along. I love this old kit. I think I'm going to go red and white, with red white and black interior. But it may still end up yellow. LOL I wont know for sure until I paint it.
Thanks for watching. It sure is bringing back some memories for me too. I just hope this won't take two tubes of glue like the one I built back in the 70's. LOL
Thanks for following along. It is a fantastic kit. Just know that Tamiya thin glue does not work on the one I'm doing because it's plastic not the PVC that new kits are made out of. I've been using Super Glue to hold everything together. Also take care putting the back panel on and make sure it's glued well. Mine separated on the passenger side and moved just a bit. Other than that, so far it's fit perfectly.
Thank you very much. I think I'm going to do just that. The wife agrees with you too. So red and white it's going to be. I think the interior is going to be the tan with red and black carpet. Not sure just yet on that.
It will be interesting to see if you can get the top to function. I have 2 different 1:1 cars with white interiors. They aren't hard to keep clean at all. A little 409, with a brush and rag, and you're done! 😃 (convertibles of the '50's and '60's always look better with white interiors) 😉 The blue and white exterior you are considering looks great on a 1:1 1959 Skyliner I've seen at a car show. Red and white is just too common.
Thanks for watching. I am confident that the top will work. I did one when I was 14 and it worked. I will do a 3 tone interior with a red and white exterior. Just because those are the colors I have. LOL
Nice! I built this back around '92 or so, black with red interior, like one I had just seen at a car show. I'm sure yours will be nicer. Nice to display with retractable hardtop.
I suggest you do research into Ford factory specs for 1959 for your color choices. Thanks for showing off this "old" kit and using those figures in your videos.
Thanks a lot for watching. I just sat down tonight and told myself that I need to see what options and colors came with the 59 so I can at least get it close. But I thought I'd check my comments first. LOL So great minds. Thanks again.
One of our best friends has a body shop, he is wrapping up restoring a blue and white ‘59 Retractable for a family friend. His mom has one that her and his dad bought in ‘60. I’m getting ready to do one like her’s, geranium and white.
That is so cool. I haven't even seen one before, but have always been intrigued by them ever since I made this kit back in the 70's. I am going to end up doing this one in Red and white. I know it's been done a bunch, but I really like the colors. LOL
That's a complicated looking kit with that hardtop that sinks into the truck as the lid opens and closes. Very neat kit, but beyond my skills at this point. Great update Mark.
Larry, it is a cool kit, but honestly it's not as complicated as you would think. I remember when I was 14 and did this kit. I was able to get it to work well. I know you can do it.
I like making the kits kind of box stock, but if I was able to get another one I think I'd drop it and give it a cool graphics paint job. Then put them side by side to display.

I know whatever you do with them will be the best
Thank you very much.
I bet the guys are going to have some fun with Lori working in the shop with them. Lol
LOL I haven't given her full back story. She is married to TJ. LOL so I think he'd mop the shop with someone that got out of line. LOL
Give her a chance bus. Not like him who just threw her on her back lol
LOL
Second the motion on red and white, would make it pop!!!!
Thank you for watching. The wife said red and white, so that's what it's going to be. LOL
It's always an exciting moment to start a new project. That looks like a nice one, enjoy.
Thank you very much. I am having a lot of fun already.

Thank you very much. It is a great kit, and so far I'm having fun with it.
Looking forward to following the rest of the build journey. Thanks Mark!
Thank you very much for following along.
Cool kit, good to know it fits together well. Can't wait to see it come together and in colour. Very nice that the figures are included.
Thanks for following along. I love this old kit. I think I'm going to go red and white, with red white and black interior. But it may still end up yellow. LOL I wont know for sure until I paint it.
I got thru only the first five minutes and had to congratulate LORI on making the grade. Red head tells us a little about Grandpa Mark's likes.
I'm cracking up right now. She can keep up with the best of them.
Brought back a ton of memories. Thanks
Thanks for watching. It sure is bringing back some memories for me too. I just hope this won't take two tubes of glue like the one I built back in the 70's. LOL
I can't wait to see this kit when you finish it Mark. 😁
Thank you very much.
Looks like its shaping up well. The interior shots I've seen online show a 3-tone interior treatment.
I totally agree, I am going to use a red white and black interior.
This looks like its gonna be a real joy to build.
So far it seems to be just as great as I remember it from the 70's
I like your use of the figures in the build photo.😊
Thank you very much. They are a lot of fun.
I think red and white would look cool. It will be a neat build.
Thanks. I think you are right. Red and whit will look like something to bring to the car show.
I recently was given one of these kits, I am glad you are building it - so I can learn from you - mine is the green plastic.

Nice preparation of everything. I think I would go with red and white. Thanks for sharing.

@@grandpamarkshobbies Tan would be a good color choice for the interior.
I think so.

Thanks for watching. I've been looking at different ones, and I think I'm going to go red and white too.
Looks like a great kit! I can't wait to see the end result
Thanks for following along. I honestly think it would stand up to the best of the new kits.

Been looking at them kits glad to see your progress.
Thank you very much. I am having a total blast with this already.
Super, super cool kit. This is going to be awesome.

can't wait to see it done
Thanks buddy. It's going to be a bit. I still have to start gluing everything and then it's all going to get a coat of silver.
I had an old 1970 truck kit, the plastic felt good sanded and painted well, but was a pain to glue.
I noticed that my Tamiya glue isn't all that great, but my super glue dries as soon as the parts touch. LOL

Buy more kits and build all the colors. Make a car lot of what you can buy in the day!
I am going to take all my roadsters, my pickup, this build, and hpefully a few 50's Chevy's and make a drive in.
I would do a yellow interior with black centers for the seats and door panels.
I think I'm going to go red with white and black.
I think this car would look cool if it were lowered down a bit
I like making the kits kind of box stock, but if I was able to get another one I think I'd drop it and give it a cool graphics paint job. Then put them side by side to display.
happy happy joy joy
I know right!!!! I'm so pumped to get going on this one. And I don't think it's going to disappoint.
Hey Mark what if you used a mixture of color fuzzy fur for the interior of this build? What would you think about that idea? 🤔🤨
Just like lowering it, if I had two I would do that, but to keep it in the 50's I'm going to go with a mix of blacks and pastel gray.
Salmon and cream car with salmon and cream interior, original color combo, or not.
I am going to go with a red with white and red white and black interior.
The green was the first run of the kit.
I see that. Way back in 59. Isn't it amazing the detail and quality that was made in a kit that is 64 years old.
Go with yellow/ white. I would be afraid of the yellow bleeding through.
I'll spray everything silver first to give it a base cover.
Looks like Laurie is packing.
She's carrying a 18" pipe wrench. Not sure why, but I don't think the guys are going to mess with her. LOL
i wanted to stay in the car
It's bigger than my first apartment. LOL
I know right @@grandpamarkshobbies
LOL
That's not right gramps. You got too many people in there. Then you got a girl on her back. I'm mad at you
LOL. They are all good workers and she can take any one of them. LOL
