I built the 3 Hot Rod Magazine versions of this, Beatnik Bandit & Mysterion in my early teens...
I still have emotional damage!!
😬😬😬😂🤣
Built the Beatnik and the Road Agent before this (see videos) and I thought they were just as finicky. Mysterion is in my stash so will probably get to that next year after I 'recuperate" from this. ⛑
@lmcdasc Good luck my friend, I'll be watching for the build!! 👍🏾
Thanks Dario. Interesting build and I enjoyed your comments about the process.
Thanks Thomas. If nothing else others can learn from my mistakes and the other issues with the kit. I do try to watch videos from others who have built kits before I start my own and have avoided issues with that knowledge. I hope others benefit from my videos that way.
Great job on the Outlaw Dario, I built it, it's a challenge for sure, I used Tamiya pearl white, so Ed originally called it the Excalibur, hence the sword handle shifter, it was on the original car, I don't know if that's the original car in the museum or a recreation 🤔
The Excalibur part explains a lot. Thanks for pointing it out. While I can't be sure that museum Outlaw is the real McCoy, when you look closely at some of the pictures, there is clear wear and tear and aging shown. Then again it may be 'faked' aging. I'll dig around a bit more on the history of the car as I am genuinely curious.
Turned out real nice despite the problems. Well done, broski.
Thanks Ed. Yes, despite the problems I'm happy with it. The decal issue bothers me but at least that's at the back of the car so not noticeable when sitting on me shelves.
I build the same car with the Robin Hood Fink kit except the tires were cartoonish on it. It was quite finicky and fragile to put together and mine didn't have the decals so I airbrushed the colour along the edges. I think you did a great job on a difficult build.
Yes I remember that video as that was how I learned it was essentially the same car/body. You made it look easy though.
👌👌
Thank you for the shout out Dario. Those decals are aggravating , as if the kit wasn't challenging enough. Nice job my friend..
Not that my subs will make a big difference, but I'm sure some viewers will enjoy your builds, especially the very unique scratch builds. Still trying to get over that Surf'n'bird!
@dariosmodelbuilds soon as I get get your shop card, I'll give you a shout out on my channel
@@scaleplastichobbies Canada Post still on strike. It may be a while 😥
I like it Dario, love the blue and white 👍
Thanks. While they are nice colours, I can't take credit for them as I was only using the supplied decals and trying to mimic the real car. I do think it would look nice if yellow was used instead of white although the decals are somewhat transparent so the blue/green would probably change into some other colour.
Saying this kit is a challenge is an understatement. I built this kit but ruined the decals big time. I ended up removing them and used green flames instead. It turned out excellent. I'd like to sent a photo sometime.
@@DayTwo-w8n Fear not as it is one of, if not the hardest set of decals around. Many modellers don't even try to put them on so you're already ahead of the curve. This is why I like making these videos. People, myself included, see what I did wrong or see better ways of doing things and we all learn something and hopefully do better next time. Thanks for watching.
Ive got to watch this! Many have tried and failed with this kit….. including me!!
I'm not sure my build was a total 'success' either, just OK. I checked out some of your 'Kustoms'. Very nice work. Subbed now.
I was lucky to see the real car…. The original not a clone at the Peterson museum vault last year
So the one at the Peterson museum is a replica? I thought it was the original because looking close at the pictures do show some wear and tear. But I guess that could be 'faked' as well. I wonder if that also explains the different shift knob (sabre handle versus ball). Thanks for watching.
@ no sorry I must now have made myself clear….. the one in the Peterson is the original
@@KrowKustoms OK thanks for clearing it up.
That engine looks like the same engine in the revell Willy's coupe with opening every thing and the Anglia Buick nail head
It could be. I'm not sure where Ed Roth got the engine from when he built it but I'm sure it's documented somewhere. Thanks for watching.
That turned out nice. Too bad about the decals
I'm not a big fan of Microsol, Walther's SolvASet works much better.
I can't blame the Microsol on this one as it did what it was supposed to. I think it was my placement of the decals to begin with. I should have placed them much lower and then they would align better. Live and learn. Thanks for watching.
