Making his debut in Batman #59 in 1950, Dead Shot was introduced as another Gotham millionaire that decided to take up crime fighting due to his uncanny skill as a marksman. Surfacing while Batman and Robin were on vacation, this vigilante used his spectacular trick shots to stop burglaries, while clad in a tuxedoed costume. Aiming to become the successor to Batman, he was soon revealed by the caped crusader to not only desire to become Gotham's next hero, but become its sole crime lord as well. As a child Deadshot had an extremely abusive father who worked for the mob
One day when his father was beating his mother he grabbed a gun and accidently shot his brother when he was aiming at his father. On that day...he promised to never miss.
That's my favorite backstory for Deadshot, but I thought it was his brother being beaten by the abusive father. He grabbed a rifle, climbed a tree, then when he was about to take the shot, the tree branch broke.

Will Smith plays one hell of a Anti-hero in Suicide Squad. This incarnation of Deashot is more of a caring father while being a assassin who seeks purpose.
Actually, he was first portrayed that way in 2005 in the comics; of course, his daughter was only 4 years old then.

Deadshot is personally one of my favorite villains, just below Deathstroke and Bane. I wish they explored his origin story more in Suicide Squad.

I love the Arrow series Deadshot. I don't like the Arkham City one. I can appreciate the Origins one. But the Arrow one, and the New 52 one are my favorites.

did you watch Assault On Arkham? it's a recent animated feature, the latest of many, but set in the Arkham games canon, after Origin but before Asylum... it is an adaptation of the Suicide Squad comics (sorta a hybrid of the original 80s title and the New 52, it's kinda loose)... in fact it's not even a Batman movie it's a SS movie... Deadshot's pretty much the main character. fun title highly recommended.

Indeed. The CW made a mockery of Deadshot, as they do with pretty much every character they include in their show. It's very good show as a standalone, but it can be painful to watch if you know anything about the characters outside of the show. that portrayal of Arrow seems to be nothing but a wonnabe carbon copy of Batman, and the voice disguise thing just screams try-hard.

Indeed. Batman is usually able to takedown Deadshot because of the element of surprise, body armour, and extensive hand to hand combat training. All of which the arrow lacks. (the hand to hand combat experience, let's face it, just isn't on Batman's level. Even though the show likes to think he is)
Not to mention that he technically is based on Robin Hood, so hes really just wearing very leather at best,..

Jake Bryant if you ask me, they should have had Fantastic 4 rebooted for the Marvel cinematic universe, that way, things would be more canon with the comic books, Human Torch and Crystal would be dating and she'd fill in for Invisible Woman while she's pregnant, it's a win-win

What an awesome origin story. I saw this villain in arkham city, boy was he badass. Chris Cox is probably the best voice for Deadshot. The ending of this video was awesome as well.

I have no idea how Will Smith got cast for him, don't get me wrong he's a great actor but he does not fit as Deadshot...I've just seen Cross or Alex Cross movie (whatever the name is) and Matthew Fox looks badass and awesome, I couldn't think of anyone else to play Deadshot like Matthew Fox played that role...but that's just me...by the way the guy who played Deadshot in Arrow is totally awesome, well done DC on depicting a character in such a badass way...

160sharp arrow ha I like arrow (never miss an episode) but that deadshot is not the true comic book deadshot because for starters deadshot actually has both eyes in the comics and certainly did not lose his eye to green arrow (or arrow as he did like the name green arrow when it was suggested) not to mention deadshot does not even wear his signature outfit from the comics on the TV show

He was in the original Teen Titans cartoon, albeit just as Slade. That is where most people know him from, I think. You're right in that he's not a Batman villain, but he is a fairly influential character in the DC Universe in general.

Deadshot appeared on Smallville several times before he appeared on Arrow. Arrow was not his live action debut.

Young Deadshop grew up poor and as such live in a crime ridden apartment.
His neighbors were involved with organized crime and were cheating the boss. The boos caught on to this and two men were sent to kill them. The room was forcefully entered and the theives were shot dead with sub-machine gun fire.
Unfortunately, next door stray fire ends up killing Deadshots family. He survived do to bullets getting caught in his western book he was reading.
He begins training and in a form of montage see him kill the two men who killed his family (with one bullet) and make his way up to kill the boss that ordered the hit.
We also learn through inner dialogue in these scenes that he hates waste and makes every shot count. Insinuating his desire to never miss is on account of the death of his family by stray bullets.
While Deadshot has more character than before he is still a villain and does commit murder of innocents (usually with a reason).

Seriously I hate that scene from arrow its what made me stop watching the show, because deadshot is firing an automatic weapon and green arrow is using the most analogue of ranged weapons there is no fucking way he could kill deadshot or get a shot out before he has more holes in him than swiss cheese. Also don't like it because Green Arrow kills but only kills henchmen he leaves bosses alive what bullshit the Green Arrow from the comics would call bullshit on this guy at every step. I guess its another thing I just hate the "realism" that DC is putting into its video media they haven't made a good TV show since Justice League Unlimited not including smallville because that show is like twilight genetically fused with superman Its slow and not too pretty to look at.
Just read superman year one if you want to know superman's origins, its much better than smallville and that lame ass remake that come out last summer, and it has received several awards and is a certified new york times best seller. If superhero movies were made in mass like they are now much earlier like maybe early seventies than I think the cinema and television might be on par with the comics but as of right now the comics are far superior at least the older ones.
The quality in the comics has slipped in recent years excluding stories like blackest night but after 2012 I think both marvel and dc really let quality slip. Marvel made Nick fury in the main universe black trying to relate to movie goers who don't know of the white nick fury which I prefer even though Sam Jackson is a great actor I think the source material should be more respected plus the Old Nick Fury has had a lot more development and depth to his becoming a very meaningful character over the years so it pisses me off that they just change his character and put the original in permanent retirement. Also any fanboys going to talk about the ultimate universe, yeah I fucking know about it so shut the fuck up I don't need a history lesson from you.

nick furry was always white and black in the comics and their making rqve changes because they want too.. just saying wally west is black in 52 and now hes black in the cw show , and people were outraged . I agree with you on the Deadshot part. Arrow did made them weaker than the comic book counter-parts. But in my opinion Arrow did the best live-action adaption of Deathstroke, despite changing parts of Deathstroke's past we all loved

He's actually not half bad in Arrow. Its what people are calling a "Nolanized" Green Arrow. Yet its had some clever versions of various super villains such as the Royal Flush Gang, The Firefly, Count Vertigo, Death Stroke, and Merlyn the Black Archer.

There has been speculation that Bane's second-in-command Barsad (played by Josh Stewart), who is the secondary antagonist in The Dark Knight Rises is intended to be a version of Deadshot.
