Here are a few fun facts about Bucky. 1. His death was used as an example of why the marvel universe has few kid sidekicks. No hero wanted to endanger the life of a child in the same way Bucky's was. 2.Because Bucky's death was one of the longest lasting comic book deaths until he was brought back in 2005, there became a rule known as "The Bucky Clause". According to this rule, no one stays dead in comics, except Bucky, Jason Todd, and Uncle Ben. Ironically, Bucky and Jason later came back, so that rule is almost pointless now.
i think the winter soldier is one the most tragic and compelling villains/antiheroes. his backstory is so fascinating and so tragic. once he was cap's friend and later he was turned into brainwashed killer who was obligated to fight against his old comrade. that is so powerful and i love how they handled the winter soldier and his relationship with cap in the movie. sebastian stan looked so badass with his long hair and metal arm. he did an outstanding job portraying brainwashed bucky and even though he didnt have much lines he left such a deep impact solely with his eyes. i cant wait to see more in cap 3
In a nutshell, the Winter Soldier is very similar to the Red Hood. Both were partners to heroes (Bucky to Captain America, Jason Todd (Robin) to Batman), but near death experiences both ended up with them becoming formidable enemies of their former friends.
You can consider Winter Soldier an anti hero at the end considering he took Cap's place when he was killed off. Rod Hood has stayed evil when he came back
You know, we can hear you ;) - we accept criticism better than most media companies (let alone TH-cam channels). But FWIW our Top 10s are actually fairly subjective & the criteria fairly well laid-out. Does that mean they are all perfect & unassailable? Of course not. But it's not like we're one person tossing names in a hat & picking them out randomly. There's massive hours of work in each clip. Bottom line: it's fine to disagree. Ideally, use our Suggestion tool to suggest ideas & entries.
If you watch Captain America 1, when Rogers rescues Bucky and the other soldiers from Red Skulls big factory thing, Bucky was in Dr. Zola's room. There was a table with restraints and stuff that he was on. This is totally where they were brainwashing him, how much do you want to bet.
Laura Wanco Ditto. I read Bucky's bio on a MarvelWikia site and fell in love with his redemption arc. Although, I'm a not a fan of the fact that he was more ruthless the Fury when he replaced him as "The Man on the Wall". It's kind of expected considering all the brutality and training he's been through :(
Furious George And Winter Soldier was trained by Cap. Since their about even in hand to hand combat and winter Soldier is stronger and faster, it comes down to how well Red Hood uses his weapons
I know that they're talking about the Winter Soldier version but I'm still extremely defensive of Bucky and extremely angry that he was labeled as a Villain.
Winter Soldier has a name that is just begging to be made fun of. He's only a soldier for 3 months out of the year. Spring, summer or fall, he can't be arsed.
I would suspect that instead of him being Russian he will be US trained and developed by a rogue agency or wing of an agency, and that someone found super soldier juice elsewhere. Used in unethical experiments since he was expendable and already "Dead"...or something like that.
Argentuban or it could also be stated that Baron Zemo had injected him with something when Steve found him in the first movie, so potentially a derivative of the original super soldier serum. It's comics they will some up with something.
Argentuban He could still start out as Russian trained. He's got that red star on his shoulder in the trailer. I was hoping for a mention of Alexander Lukin.
Wilson Tavera They already confirmed that there's a real Mandarin in the MCU who is involved with the Ten Rings group that is monumentally pissed at Trevor Slattery for stealing his name.
I've noticed that Marvel is doing newer comic storylines. I'd never heard of The Winter Soldier until recently. When I first heard the title for the movie announced I had no clue it was reference to the actual character. But I still enjoyed the movie, top notch film. I've seen it twice in theaters now.
masterodst1 Last I checked, Jason Todd is the "current" Red Hood. Didn't think I needed to point that out since the only other noteworthy Red Hood was Joker who has been Red Hood since the Golden Age.

DobbyIsFreeeee to be honest, i think you've watched a video from watchmojo, and even they said they are reviewing only the 2005 vision (not the original published version), but the birth of bucky was way before then.
Ayrton Sy More development of Bucky's past as the Winter Solider you get understand constant brainwashing and confusion his had to deal with over the years

I don't know if I'd say the Winter Soldier was a villain. Rather, he was a fallen hero who'd been brainwashed into doing the bidding of his enemies. Even so, you can see that Bucky was still there, buried deep inside.
Can someone answer this? I'm not a hardcore Captain America fan, but I do like him. If Bucky aka Winter Soldier wasn't injected with the formula, he is still just a human with a bionic arm, right? Even with his expertise in combat, a mere human even with a bionic arm could never beat Captain America...
I'm no CA expert myself, but I think his bionic arm is either just as powerful or more powerful then CA, after all CA is still human, he just has spiderman esc superhuman strength. So, yes TWS is still human and TWS and CA are pretty even...
David Tennant Actually Spiderman is stronger than Cap. This is because Spiderman actually has super strength, Cap is super nothing. He's "peak human" not "super human."
Steve Rogers can be killed, but he still has amazing physical abilities which are beyond that of even the most physically fit human. I think what I'm trying to say is that even if Buckey was at the top physical peak of human condition, and even with a bionic arm, he is still physically less superior to Captain America. For example, if Captain were to punch TWS, the only way the TWS can block that punch is with his bionic arm, or he would risk injuring or losing that human body part. If that makes any sense...I'm not saying Cap has amazing super strength, but it is still beyond that of the strongest human.
You see, this is what I wanted from the movie. That's not to say that the movie is terrible, because there are things that I like about it. But it's not often that a movie names itself after a SECONDARY villain. The Winter Soldier himself had very little screen time, and did not have the looming presence in the movie like he did in the trailers. Might as well not have called the movie 'The Winder Soldier,' or even included him as a villain to begin with.
He didn't just turn into an assassin by choice. He didn't just abandon his morals and character to be a villain. He was robbed of his identity and turned into something he wouldn't become on his own. Lets be honest, Sebastian Stan makes the best Bucky
👍💖
Yes and he’s HOT
Sebastian Stan is The Greatest Winter Soldier
He makes the only only Bucky and no one else should
Agreed
You forgot to mention that he trained Black Widow and that they had a thing for awhile
Julia Aarushi plus he killed wolverines wife while she was pregnant. Killed JFK

In a nutshell, the Winter Soldier is very similar to the Red Hood. Both were partners to heroes (Bucky to Captain America, Jason Todd (Robin) to Batman), but near death experiences both ended up with them becoming formidable enemies of their former friends.
Both are cool but winter solder is highly unlikely as far as origins of what brought him to be.
Well, I'll be sure to look into that! :D
Both also took on their masters identities at some point.
You can consider Winter Soldier an anti hero at the end considering he took Cap's place when he was killed off. Rod Hood has stayed evil when he came back

I dare say that Bucky’s MCU Origin surpass his Comic Book Origin having him & Steve be life long friends was brilliant.
Sure it does.
I enjoy how they speak about future movies as if they already came out.
just saw the movie, absolutely incredible. the Winter Soldier's origin is fitted to the film rather than his "original" origin from Ed Brubaker. A+++
i would be pissed off too if somebody kept calling me "bucky"
Ok Bucky! LMAO
Who the hell is Bucky
hes gonna be awesome in the new captain america film.
Anyone seen that trailer? ITS F**KING BADASS
Just went to see it at the cinema, you need to go watch it, it's pretty damn good.
I thought it looks gay. Google, "Is Chris Evans gay" for proof.
The Man of Starch is GAY an insult? It shouldn't be.
JAMES BOND Hello????
I don't like how they called this a supervillian origin. The winter soldier became a good guy again quite a long while ago.
One of my favorite story Arcs in all of Marvel is Captain America and the Winter Soldier Bucky Barnes.
***** Same here.
Laura Wanco Ditto. I read Bucky's bio on a MarvelWikia site and fell in love with his redemption arc. winter soldier is a badass
2:27 Um, Fury? How can he be working from the shadows when u have all this damn high-def fotage of him? ('_')
Winter Soldier vs Red Hood(Jason Todd)......... thoughts?
With all of his gadgets and training I think Jason would win. He was trained by the God Damn Batman.
Red Hood for sure!
Furious George And Winter Soldier was trained by Cap. Since their about even in hand to hand combat and winter Soldier is stronger and faster, it comes down to how well Red Hood uses his weapons
Jacob Taylor Red Hood may win, but DEFINITELY not for sure. It is a very even fight in hand to hand and Winter Soldier is stronger and faster
***** Why?
to be fair, it seems like he's more a victim of extreme circumstance than a villan.
I know that they're talking about the Winter Soldier version but I'm still extremely defensive of Bucky and extremely angry that he was labeled as a Villain.
Me too.
same
Love the Winter Soldier character, especially as drawn. Complexity would be welcome. But I don't want to lose Chris Evans as Captain America!

He's only a soldier for 3 months out of the year. Spring, summer or fall, he can't be arsed.
