All roads are great biker roads if the rider is quite happy with a 50mph limit or an average of, personally I don't mind as I think it's fast enough to be able to enjoy the scenery and soak up the surroundings. I'm more often than not a Yorkshire Dales rider and 50 mph is more than enough for me there. I've not ridden that Cat n Fiddle road for many a year, but when I did it was a great ride down to Matlock Bath. Yeah I really enjoy your content, or the quality footage both you and Carol make when your out together. Thanks for sharing your great rides with us 👍🏻
Hey Banditmanuk, Hope all is good your way. Gorgeous roads! One day when I am over on your side of the pond I will have to ride it! Thanks for the ride, Cheers and safe riding!
All is good here in the UK thanks. Hope its all good over your side of the water? Plenty of great roads here, hope you can make it over some time. Just remember we ride on the correct side of the road here😉😉 Thanks for calling by the channel, ride safe and take care
Finally catching up with some of the videos in my Watch Later list. What a great road, and the lower limit means you can enjoy the scenery more serenely 👍
Its still a great road and can certainly be enjoyed at the lower speed. Unfortunately years ago it gained the unfortunate title of most dangerous UK road (it's not dangerous if ridden sensibly) the bike death stats forced action to be taken with the cameras. Nice to hear I'm on someone's watch later list, it's one of the rare occasions I'm out unsupervised on my own 😉
Another good video really enjoyed that, haven’t done that road for awhile , personally I think the average speed cameras on that road are a good thing , I remember how all you heard was the RTA s that happened before the cameras , that and the majority of riders can’t ride it faster than 50 without crashing so the cameras take the pressure off , making it a more enjoyable road for the masses 😎👌🇬🇧🏍🇬🇧 keep up the good work, stay safe
I'm not sure about the cameras, I do think a few idiots spoil it for the majority. Think the appalling casually rate forced the authorities hand. As always appreciate you stopping by the channel and take care.
Good to see the pub reopen, not sure how welcoming the camera in the car park is but the coffee and cake were good. Looking forward to seeing how you get on with your 360 👍
Thanks Phil, if there was one camera I really thought worthy of buying its the Insta 360 One X2. Not for the main vlog camera but for all the other stuff. Battery life is way, way better than my Hero 7.
Ridden that road twice whilst doing the National Rally, first time it was thick fog, second time it was dark so it didn't have to be fast to be exciting.
Absolutely yes. Would be fun trying to keep the momentum up around the corners and there's little chance you could trigger the average speed camera. Go for it, it's a beautiful ride. Thanks for watching
Monday will definitely be better for a run over. Trouble is when it's busy lots of drivers go well below the limit 'just to be safe' which makes riding over tedious. If you remember they are average speed cameras, if you are doing below the limit in the bends you can make it back on the straights 😉 Beautiful area, its worth stopping by the Goyt valley while in the area. Unfortunately in the vid I'm going the GPS speed limit! Thanks for watching, cheers
Thanks for this complete road vid. I did ask the staff in the Distillery part if there was anywhere to sit down & she said no? Clearly there was as you pointed the small seating area at the back. Will check it out next time. Thanks, great alternating footage, I know editing is a chore but great when you post vids like this 👍
No problem, it's normally the Mrs and myself doing the vids. Just for fun and mostly just as a record of where we've been. Getting to enjoy the editing now, cutting more and more out and hopefully getting decent bike to bike audio. Keep going with your vids and best wishes. Richard 👍
@@Banditmanuk Thanks bud, but you say you're enjoying doing the editing! I'll let you come & do mine 😂. Actually, I think I need to upgrade my lap top as the quality of footage now on GoPro's, Insta 360's etc is advancing all the time. I'll check out that other cafe you mentioned when next up there, thanks for this information. Have a great & safe motorbiking year, Daz 👍😁🏍
They've had a few goes at making the camera system work properly. Spent about a million pounds! When first installed in 2011 there were loads of short cuts not covered by the cameras. On another vid I've recently seen posted on a Panigale (fast) he states the cameras don't work from Macclesfield to the Cat and Fiddle pub. No idea if this is true. Pre camera it certainly was the place to open up a superbike...... not that I condone law breaking in any way.
Yep, like everything else these days the Health and Safety folks think they know best. Sadly I also remember the pub as a pub with a fire and real ale. Still a scenic run but you need to head to Spain now to properly enjoy riding decent roads without speed cameras. Thanks for watching anyway
I used to run this route on my RD400 back in 1981-82 . . . that was a great bike in the twisties - could beat the 1000 cc bikes. I'm not sure how many average speed cams there are but if you stop for 5 mins that should help reduce the average . . . .which you can make up for when moving!
I had my RD250LC 81 to 82, wasn't bad in the twisties either. Still on a Yam 40 years later. There is a rumour that not all the cameras are working but I don't feel like testing it.
Controversial comment I know but I rode it last year, living locally it is a route I have ridden a lot in the past in pre speed camera days. I have to say its not too bad, and to be honest in the past it was pure madness, in fact I stopped riding it because of the lunatic fringe that used to ride the pass in the 1990's.If you take it as a lovely scenic view its fine.Nice video thanks.

@@ralphbeardmore9738 I'm afraid they point both ways. Definitely designed with motorcycles in mind as they were the bulk of the statistics prior to installation.
That was another good one and I only watched it to see if I was on it! Not impressed with one of tipper colleagues driving on wrong side of double white lines there. The speed cameras have just finished having a makeover costing many hundreds of thousands of pounds and nearly two years worth of work as some did not work properly. A forewarning though now as the council are going to spend around a million pounds on each of two local roads the Via Gellia and The long Hill between Whaley Bridge and Buxton, this is mainly cycle safety initiatives but they are installing average speed cameras on that one just like the Cat and Fiddle. Now as in the nursery rhyme, Hey diddle diddle the cat and the fiddle...with the pub at 3.01 The Setter Dog, could be the little dog laughed? The old transport cafe at 8.01 used to be called The Dish and the Spoon, all that grassy area in front was lorry parking. All we are missing is a cow jumping over the moon! Ride safe.
Yep, that waggon driver was on the racing line 😉 I'm no fan of average speed cameras but years past some riders were doing crazy speeds over the Cat and Fiddle. I guess it was enviable the authorities would take action. Personally I wish the council budget could go to repairing the appalling road surfaces rather than new cameras.
Think the pub would rather sell it's £100.00 bottles of whisky to the odd punter than cater for bikers. That camera in the car park is definitely not welcoming! Probably not a best biking road?? But thanks for watching cheers.
Lost count of the number of times I've ridden it, not so much recently due to the Gestapo stepping up anti-biker missions if you know what I mean...oh you noticed the revenue cameras LOL! That truck driver is a good example of why Traffic Police should be on the road and revenue cameras removed. Nice video many thanks.
Nice to hear from you Paul, on the road to recovery I hope🤞. I'm no fan of the cameras but the trouble was the stats. Too many riders riding too fast and running out talent. I would prefer to see more police and less cameras but don't see them taking them down...... cost best part of a million to install!
@@Banditmanuk I have been better I must admit! Still haven't the strength to ride but am getting there.............slowly. Sods Law states it will be *issing down when I think I can do it LOL! I would love to help remove the cameras if anyone knows a source of small nuclear devices?? 😍

completely agree the truck was terrible, but bikes coming towards you on completely the wrong line so that they are effectively leaning over on to your side of the road.
@@eforeman7499 I'm not a spokesman for all bikers, hopefully what we do is safe and reasonable on this channel. Some riders do ride dangerously and too fast, unfortunately it can all end very badly.
2 years have passed I know. That is typical of a tipper driver going over the double white lines and that driver was totally in the wrong but…..there’s always a but, but in his or her defence he or she will most certainly be fully loaded so cutting the corners is saving on diesel, brake & tyre ware. Keeping up momentum and power is key when you’re driving a fully loaded wagon, the other point I’ll make is that the driver sits so high up that he or she can see if there’s owt coming in the opposite direction and only a really stupid driver, HGV or otherwise would cut a corner if they couldn’t see if there’s anything coming towards him or her, if that was a police bike behind that driver then he or she would be driving a lot more carefully. That said I thoroughly enjoyed watching your video Banditmanuk even though it’s 2 years old. Safe riding and driving folks. _ _🚛_ _🏍️_ _
