- Just six weeks ago, I took delivery of my wife's new Tesla Model S Long Range. At the time, I wasn't even considering the Model S Plaid. But after driving over 8,000 miles in the new Model S, I decided that I had to have one to call my own. So here we are. #YokeFam #PlaidLife

@@thelastninja4825 yeah, unless you have watched one review about it. i meaN it will go 200, has just under 400 miles of range, and is one of the best daily drivers with great tech! but if u dont like the plaid thats fine

Wow, the new tmS !
The new HUD looks really good, at last.
The rear entertainment system with 10” screens for each passenger is great, especially the detachable touch screen controller.
The electric blinds on the rear window and all rear door glass is great for privacy as well.
I must say, the massaging seats are a great addition to this car.
Finally, a sun glasses holder above the driver, I am really happy about that one.
The pop up table that comes out of the rear fold down arm rest is great.
The inbuilt fridge with the wine bottle holder makes for a pleasant evening in the car as well.
Tesla has finally put in automatic opening and full soft closing doors, about time.
I really like the fact that the rear seats are now fully electrically adjustable as well.
Great idea putting the buttons in the back to allow the front passenger seat to be moved out of the way when no one is sat in it for more leg room.
It’s good that Tesla has managed to get the rear seat space to give better support on the leg thigh - they’ve stopped the problem of the low seat height causing bum ache in the rear of the car.
Oh, and finally putting in door pockets, took them a while to do it, but at least they are there now.
Its great that the software now provides wifi hotspot in the car so the kids in the back can use the internet on their iPads.
The full support for both Apple CarPlay snd Android Auto now allows owners to use Waze for Satnav and have multi-waypoint routing, a great new feature that is now supported.
Tesla are actually getting their act together and finally stopped churning out cheaply made skateboards that they sell at stupidly high prices and making a car 🚗 😀

Plaids in the right config are often shipping within just a few weeks of ordering. Take a look at the ordering thread on the TMC owners forum to get perspective.
I read that the white interior and carbon trim are shipping slow.
Really I ordered mine in red with carbon fiber interior initially told me January but when I relooked one week later changed to 1st week of September. Could that be true?

Picked mine up today as well. White with tan and wood + 21inch wheels. Was too busy to drive it other than to get it home from Tesla. Glad to hear you really differentiate the Plaid from your new LR - it's a lot of dough and it needs to be that much better imo. I have a 2020 P100D Ludicrous plus - which is fast - and i really am curious just how much of a real world everyday difference there will be. I really like the P100D - and its round steering wheel. thank you for todays great video and for the superb video of the trip in the LR. Cheers and congrats on the Plaid.

@Vishnu Nellutla I’m surprised to learn that the tan interior isn’t popular - it’s very tasteful and rivals the tan that Lexus uses in its high end lines. It’s very easy on the eyes - a comfortable environment as well as cool during the warm months.

Erik...question about AutoShift....If you have a garage that faces the side of the house and you back out of the garage and you stop with the brake and up against the bushes, you now want to go forward for your next swipe. When you take your foot off the brake, does the car now know that the only way next is forward and has it automatically shifted into drive for this next logical step? If so, will it repeatedly autoshift if you have to take a couple swipes back and forth in the drive (always stopping against the rear bushes behind or the front garage door in front and auto shift each stop) until you get positioned to drive down your driveway?

How does the yolk perform for quick maneuvering? I drive a Model 3 Performance and I live in the city where you have to perform quick three point turns, parallel parking, quick maneuvers to avoid random potholes/obstacles/pedestrians/angry homeless people.

I would regret ever sitting down in a plaid. I just bought my LR model 3 AWD w/performance boost and it would ruin the 3.7s 0-60 for me!! Congratulations on your purchase!

Great content! Do you know the 60-130 on the LR version? Does it have the similar torque curve like the Plaid or does it start dying out top end?
Thanks! Haven't gotten the exact numbers, but with a best (so far) 1/4 mile time of 10.869s @ 129.75... subtracting 3.1s for 0-60 gives under 7s 60-130.

They should bring back the ventilated seats! I also believe the steering wheel should have two options; Half or Full steering wheel.

From all the TH-cam video of people with their Plaids and the people in comments constantly mentioning "their Plaid" you'd think the streets were flooded with $130k+ cars.
My purchase experience involved a car being dropped off outside my house from a truck. I was handed the key cards and the guy drove off. My first drive involved reversing into my drive around my wife's car. I now know that chill is the best option for reversing, but did not know that the first time.
why would you want a saleman try you to sell the car you already bought? its a car, not a space station. its not hard to operate.

Wife prefers the S over the X, as do I. The X refresh also isn't available yet. We need two family friendly cars, so it just worked out this way.
I hope Tesla brings some cool ambient lighting soon. Similar to BMW, Audi and Mercedes...

I have to ask - are there overhead grab handles over each door? They're necessary for elderly, less mobile people. I don't know why Tesla would have overlooked an amenity like that in the original Model S. My elderly dad's March-2017 build S75D isn't driven very much these days, just too difficult for him to get in and out of.
No there aren't any. My dad tried to get into my Plaid and gave up half way. Seems harder to get into even fro me than an older Model S.
You need the X: Automatic doors with no head-bumping involved + easy ingress and egress to/from the 2nd row seats.
@@TheRealYaro Yes. We actually purchased a Model X100D a few years ago, along with my dad’s S75D. Right away my parents favoured the Model X over the Model S because it was just so much easier to enter and exit. A shame though, the Model S is just tons more fun to drive!
This is why I went with the Y instead of an S or Plaid. At 72 I just can’t get in or out. That said I love my Y.

For me personally, yes! But still very happy with the LR. There aren't many situations in regular everyday driving where you can really flex what the Plaid offers, but when you can... it's incredible.
10:36 that's the most insightful thing I have heard in a long time. Fantastic idea and you're absolutely right, you could easily use your tesla as an emulator for less powerful cars. You could have a usb gearstick, maybe even a usb clutch pedal... I suspect until petrol cars are 100% obsolete and no longer made licensing may be an issue though!

I’m confused, how did you get the Plaid already if you ordered it after the LR, a lot of people’s deliveries just got pushed to January and February
he bought both at least 6 months ago?? or he got lucky to have it refused by others?
He purchased the Plaid a few weeks, specs has alot to do with prioritizing deliveries
For me, its all about everything the S has to offer except the Plaid things. I doubt that any everyday driving situation will not be addressed, admirably, with the LR, for me, without having to spend the extra money. Look, if you want a Plaid that's fine I just don't agree that it is worth almost 50K more for an experience that would probably give me the opportunity for as many tickets as the police can dish out.
I've refused to place an order until I get to at least ride in a Plaid.
The engineering is often forgotten on Tesla. Think about a 4800 lb sedan that can handle 1000 hp and 1000 lbs of torque instantly over a flat powerband. There are a lot of happy Americans who had to endure decades of boring, slow shitboxes. haha

Yes, but you bought a Model 3, which is a far less terrible financial decision. I do wish however, that I had followed your wise example by jumping in on Tesla stock when you did. I think it was priced in the high $300s per share at the time.

What is crazy right now is the pricing on Plaid X. Why would anyone buy a Long Range X when Plaid is only $20k more? Needless to say I have a Plaid pre-ordered

I haven't driving the plaid yet but i have driven a model S and while it was fun for a few weeks i got very bored of just straight line speed and acceleration after awhile.
I have in the past owned a two GTR's then a 458 spider and i currently have a 488 on loan and let me tell you i wouldn't swap any of them for a Tesla or any electric car even a Rimac Navara
meanwhile I am waiting for my LR since March. The wait is killing me.
