DIY Window Tint On My Tesla Model S Plaid
When most people want to get their cars tinted, they go to a shop and pay to get it done. I like to try new things and learn how they're done so I can at least develop an appreciation for the skill. Also makes life more interesting. Tint isn't rocket science but it's definitely an art. Takes a lot of patience and many failed attempts before your first perfect window. In this video, I (and my lovely wife behind the camera) show and discuss the challenges involved.

Hottest Race! Tesla Model S Long Range vs Plaid 65-120
มุมมอง 3.9K2 ปีที่แล้ว
The hottest race ever between the two current Tesla Model S trims. I recently tinted the windows on my wife's Long Range with Avery Dennison NR Nano Ceramic IR film. The Plaid is currently untinted. So it was a great opportunity to line both cars up under the sun and see how quickly they went from 65-120... degrees F. Conclusion - tint helps.

First Look Underneath the Tesla Model S Long Range AND Plaid

Looking for differences between our two new Teslas, the Model S Long Range and Plaid. Some very interesting findings. Hope this answers some questions. Comment below if you have more questions or would like to see other comparisons! Edit: Looks like I was wrong about the rear subframes. They are very different! I took my 2021 Tesla Model S Long Range to Houston Raceway Park and made ten 1/4 mile passes. Best run of the night was 10.869 seconds @ 129.75 mph, with the battery pack at ~85% SOC and Cheetah Stance partially engaged at launch. I liked the gearshift, and I found it rather easy to adapt to and to use. the only complaint I had was the sensitivity of the buttons on the steering wheel, as when I'd turn the wheel, my wrist would brush again the button and I'd end up honking the horn a lot, lol, but honestly, I really liked the Model S and comfort and steering.

So sick how fast this thing is. Always boggles my mind how people think this car is "OK" fast. This is a sedan with a damn HATCH BACK for Christ sake!!. In Tesla's base line up this isnt even the "fast" one. And yet you are forced to race it against cars that have an entire marketing theme to be High performance fast , muscle cars, sports cars, real bad a$$ MFers AND this clears the quarter mile consistently under 11 and sometimes under 10.9. This is basically neck and neck or even beating cars like the Nissan GT-R, C7 Corvette Z06, Camaro ZL1, BMW M5, and the list goes on. In some cases now in late 2023 the model S even COSTS less than these cars. The mere fact that this "Tesla 4 door hatchback sedan with a TON of cargo space and modern/future, upgrade-able technology is being put against V8s, Turbos, Superchargers, Supercharged V8 str8 up Built to be sports cars, High performance sports sedans and Bad ass muscle cars makes it an amazing piece of machinery. You HAVE to put it against "bad ass" cars...you have no choice! Because if you put it against the cars its truly aimed at taking market share from in the luxury car segment, it would be put against the Lexus LS500, the BMW 7 , The Mercedes S , Audi A8, etc...AND IT WOULD ABSOLUTELY MAKE THEM SEEM LIKE THEY WERE IN SLOW MOTION..or even parked in any race. The actual performance version of this car (Plaid) is meant to be in the HIgh performance sedan realm (Against S class AMG, BMW M, Audi RS but you cant race it against any of them ...because they would all get their asses immediately handed to them, so NOW you have to race ACTUAL Super cars from Bugatti, Porcshe, Suped up M5 competition, Lambo Huracan, etc All these car companies should be ashamed!! and shame on anyone else for not seeing this for what it truly is, No other car is judged like this in its segment - If a Mercedes S S63 AMG lost a race to a McLaren 720S No one would blink ...WHY???? because its not supposed to be racing that type of car, apples/oranges. But the PLAID not only still races it...it Freakin BEATs it!! - While being cheaper , not using any gas, No oil, etc aaaaaand you can go to HomeDepot after whoopin that McLaren and put 8 foot 2x4 wood beams in the back of it on your way home. What the hell is anyone gonna do when Tesla finally says "OK, you wanna race??!?!....Here is our actual high performance sports car...the new Roadster" Which will more than likely just go in to the future , it will be going so damn fast. Internal Combustion is dying people!! just let it happen....Electric cars are just gettin started , Soon only physics will stop them from going faster and not leaving the ground to take flight.

Yeah you pretty much summed it up. I’m debating if I should get the 2024 MS LR or wait for the refreshed Model S which I’m sure will be announced at some point. Tesla has now made the new Model 3 more premium with Model S bits so I see them stepping up the Model S.

@@user-zf1ol7op7y U know...yr right, They heavily stepped up the Model 3, Now its like a mini model S, Kinda jst missing the size and air suspension with adjustable height. Which probably will mean they may step the S up a bit further to justify the cost....but maybe not. May jst bump the speed up on it. Cuz BMW, Benz n Lex kinda dont give u much more in terms of features than their lower cost siblings...U more so get better interior, size and a bigger engine...but all the features n gadgets are kinda the same. So idk...I hope Tesla does bump it up...but they may not...I mean what could they really add?....an LED light bar? (to be honest...my opinion on that light strip is kinda like..ehhh)

If you had a round wheel you would use one or both hands to turn then let the wheel slide through you hand(s) but since your using a yoke make it easier for yourself and stop contorting your arms to make those turns.

But I implore you to buy a car lift before your next major Roadster project. I’ve done unwise things myself with floor jacks over the years; so I understand the impulse to take incrementally greater safety risks in the process of iterative problem solving when trying to complete a project. The X LR is spec'd to go 11.2 in 1/4 mile with a 0-60 in 3.8s, the S LR can only do 10.8 in 1/4 with a 3.1 in 0-60. That doesn't make sense. The S LR should be able to do AT LEAST 0.7s better than 11.2 in 1/4 according to the 0-60s. This means the S LR is DEFINITELY nerfed by Tesla. With the better aero and lower weight, it SHOULD do around 10.2-10.3s in 1/4 mile. I hope Tesla releases an acceleration boost for the S LR.
