16 for 16. Noticed you said “Up to niner thousand” in your coms. Thinking back to an earlier video this month where you mentioned this could be heard as Up 29,000. See, I really am 16 /16. Mentioning this in good fun. Happens to everyone. Thanks for the great info and lessons. 😄
16 for 16: I love the refresher. I haven't flown IFR since my instrument check ride. Watching IFR related content has got me wanting to get my head back in the clouds.
16 for 16. An airport I used to fly out of in Pell City, AL had a remote call station that you could key up with the radio, but it actually called Birmingham Approach over a telephone land line. You would click the mic a few times, then you would hear the phone ring over the radio. They would answer (hopefully), and you could get your clearance with them.
I have used your system for PPL( cert)/IRA(IFR)/ and now CPL (cert) and I can never hear this stuff enough. BURN THE SHIPS!!!!!! Thank you for your passion for teaching & aviation, many blessings to you and your family! This is Fahali Campbell out of So Cal as I’m sure your instructors that answer the calls coming in will know who I am lol.
16/16. I might take issue with pulling up to #1 before you get the clearance. The issue being told “clearance on request”, and now you have 2 planes behind you and you cannot depart.
Wow - that was a lot of stuff going on for IFR. I love how you broke it into chunks and also knowing that at the end you’ll need to be ready to go to mow the 7min deadline.
16 for 16, great momentum, thanks for keeping things fresh. and great point about making sure runup is all sorted before clearance incase they advise it will be void in so many minutes...
16/16. I've just started working on my IFR ticket and this video is a good reminder of how much I need to learn and understand. Thanks for making it look easy! Also, great to see your "back seat" pilots. On a complete side note, I purchased a Grumman Tiger in April 2022 at Tampa Executive and left from Runway 050. Flew it back to California, but seeing your takeoff brought back a great memory!
G,day Jason from Sydney Australia. "Talk out of school" Obviously the controllers prefer issuing IFR clearance; other, than over the radio? Sounded rushed in selecting best waypoints to destination? Good job getting the abbreviations on the scratch pad. 📝📢
16 for 16. Interesting how you were able to get IFR Clearance from the ground. It will be a while before I can think about instrument training but great info.
IFR helps people be safer, as long as they don’t takeoff into a downdraft. I would use IFR skills on long cross country for sure. How is it flying a stick and rudder plane when you are used to a yoke? Your kids are probably going to become passionate pilots. I would feel much safer flying than driving, because planes keep their distance and pilots take the rules seriously. Being instrument rated increases your situational awareness a lot I am sure, even if you fly VFR.
16/16 I have always wondered this. I'm a student pilot with 7 hours, so I'm still learning. Great video that you so much!!!!! Would it have been better or okay to have The uncontrolled field in the com 2 so you could still listen to control on com 1 if she needed you? Or do they just know that you will be switching until air born?
It looks like you were quickly given 4000 shortly after takeoff, but bravo starts at 3000. I don't remember hearing bravo clearance. Was that given or it was okay because you are on IFR and you had an altitude clearance?
16/16 but gotta give you a hard time on this one. After two videos about what not to say on the radios you come in with "last call"? Are you at a bar?? Lol seriously though it is redundant. When you say you're departing the area that already tells everyone it's the last transmission you intend to make there. And honestly I'm not one that nitpicks people's radio transmissions but had to give you some good natured nudging since you did make those other videos. Truly do appreciate you and your content.
Why are these kids not up front with you learning the basics and following allong on the ipad?? They literally have a foot and body in the door for a high paying job in the airlines if they want it!
My only issue here is how often you bark about radio etiquette ("with you, up to X thousand, talking to you on 119.9, etc."), but it's clear that in a real world scenario, this way of talking is rote and commonplace, even for you.
Two things.. One of the main causes of accidents on the ground is distraction. Should you be talking/filming while taxiing? Also, I don't think it's a good idea to get your clearance just before take off. Maybe just as you're ready to leave the ramp? You should be ready to taxi, though. Still a good video. 16/16
Cameras start before the engine starts and are not touched until the engine is turned off. If you get your clearance at a pilot controlled towered too early as at the fbo or before taxi and you have a clearance void time your forced to rush taxi and run up. Getting your clearance after run up and when you’re number 1 for departure gives you more time.
16 for 16. Noticed you said “Up to niner thousand” in your coms. Thinking back to an earlier video this month where you mentioned this could be heard as Up 29,000. See, I really am 16 /16. Mentioning this in good fun. Happens to everyone. Thanks for the great info and lessons. 😄
Just before that, at 5:58, there's an "up to four thousand" too.
29,000 would be referred to as flight level 2 niner 0 either way.
Nice video but you used to word “TO” when saying you were up “to” 9000. Was that climbing 29,000 or to 9000? See what I learned on day 10? 😀
It would be said as "Flight Level Two-Nine-Zero"
16 for 16: I love the refresher. I haven't flown IFR since my instrument check ride. Watching IFR related content has got me wanting to get my head back in the clouds.
Are they your kids? I’ve never seen them in any of your videos. My 3.5 and 5 y/o nieces are interested in Aviation now. Teach ‘em young!
16 for 16. Thank you so much for your videos. They are saving and changing lives!

16416.. the radio can be intimidating for me sometimes but I push through it.. You handled that communication like a Champ🥊
Just finished binging. Now 16 for 16
16 for 16 on day 21. Bought a plan last week, so a little busy. Read back on freq sounded funky but you both understood each other so all good.
16/16 enjoyed that one
16 for 16, thank you Jason. Great demonstration. I love the iPad but still prefer the pen & paper method. 😊
16 for 16. Great vid, awesome first officers! ❤️
16 / 16 - To a lot of us you are awesome ...... To your daughters you are just DAD ! - Keep them coming
16/16 🎉. The kids are so calm on the back 😊
16/16 great short video, thanks. Great seeing kids with you too 😊✈️
16/16...thank you Jason...cute and adorable kids🥰
16 for 16, that was a great video - a LOT going on there in just a few minutes!
16 for 16. I like the N number! The plane I got my PPL in was 1050C. Hearing fife zero Charlie brought back memories. 😊
16 for 16. This will be helpful as I work on my IFR this year.
16 for 16. Awesome and thanks!!!
16 for 16. I'm studying for instrument now, so that was very helpful.
16 and working on my instrument. Very relevant. Watch your altitude calls “up to/two…”
16 for 16. Thank you Jason!
16 for 16. I usually don't get much luck getting approach on the ground usually not until 1500ft. Good to know.
16 for 16 enjoy this lessons immensely looking forward to the next one.

16 for 16! Love the CRAFT acronym! Thank you!
16 for 16. Catching up a few. Very cool. Thanks Jason.
16/16! Another great video! Thanks for the lesson.
16/16. I might take issue with pulling up to #1 before you get the clearance. The issue being told “clearance on request”, and now you have 2 planes behind you and you cannot depart.
16/16 VFR only pilot at this time- will begin IFR training this year. Very good information.
16 for 16 thank you for the videos. I refer to them with my instructors during IFR training.
15 of 16 thanks Jason. I fly a SR22 IFR rating with 800hrs. Always learn stuff from you thanks
Wow - that was a lot of stuff going on for IFR. I love how you broke it into chunks and also knowing that at the end you’ll need to be ready to go to mow the 7min deadline.
16 for 16. Learning a lot, thank you.
16/16, Thanks again, more time needed for this also,
Thank you very much. Very useful. I will start my IFR journey soon.
16/16 - loving it!
It will probably be a while before I need it but it should be good reference to come back to in the future!
16 for 16, great momentum, thanks for keeping things fresh. and great point about making sure runup is all sorted before clearance incase they advise it will be void in so many minutes...
16/16 I learned so much. Such a great video
Great video. Thanks
Stop by x39 sometime. I’m a CFI CFI-I there. I’m at VDF all the time as well.
15/16. Always enjoy learning with you Jason.

16 for 16! Great video!!
16/16. Nice to see even though IFR is still far away for me.
16/16! That was cool!
Thank you for not calling it an "uncontrolled" airport
16 of 16, right on track 😎
G,day Jason from Sydney Australia.

Good job getting the abbreviations on the scratch pad.

Loved this! Great content and show of flow which is very helpful!
16 for 16. But I had to make this one up early Tuesday. You make this look easy. I know it’s not.
16 for 16. Interesting how you were able to get IFR Clearance from the ground. It will be a while before I can think about instrument training but great info.
16/16 today!! It s interesting even I ma not IFR rated.
16/16. Thank you for that video.
#16 is done!
Good job! 16/16

Do you have to file a flight plan ?
16-16 Jody Spann. For a new pilot it seems like a lot to process in a very short period of time.
16 for 16. I always call clearance delivery, I've never called approach for that.
16 for 16 in 2023!
16/16 but gotta give you a hard time on this one. After two videos about what not to say on the radios you come in with "last call"? Are you at a bar?? Lol seriously though it is redundant. 16 of 16 7 days late - have been poorly ok now though.
15 for 16, I’ll catch up soon, I promise
Hey, how to land at airport with no IAP?
16 for 16 from Hungary🇭🇺
16/16 (forgot to comment lol)
Can someone explain what does 16/16 mean in his video?
Safer pilot challenge series is 31 videos. 16/16 means out of the 16 videos posted you’ve watched all 16
16/16.
16416!
Why do pilots call out "Last Call"?
Day 16 of 16
Why are these kids not up front with you learning the basics and following allong on the ipad?? They literally have a foot and body in the door for a high paying job in the airlines if they want it!
16 for 16 here.
16/16. Should be “climb niner thousand.” Just trying to keep you accountable ;)
I need the accountability hahah thank you!!!
Full House for me so far Uk

16 for 16, kids soon get interested.
