20 for 20, the only pop-up I've seen is on my computer screen. We're completely grounded here in Chicago due to the freezing temps. Thank you Jason I learn a new thing every time I watch your videos, you're the best.
Morning! 20 for 20! Not manned today, but I’m using my knowledge to use my part 107 today to help locate the last 2 remaining dogs that were dumped near a jobsite in the high desert all the way out here in eastern San Diego. I’m so glad I was introduced to this program as I’ve always had the aviation bug but haven’t had the means to get into a physical plane but knowing I can get through and be familiar with some of the overlapping knowledge following my part 107 (which I got because of your program) I’ve never felt better or closer and more comfortable with my dream (as well as those around me) and I’m excited to get myself started on my ground school with you as well. I have a lot going on in the next 6 months which may even include literally moving to Florida for my fiance to get her masters and for myself to further my education in GIS. Ha anyways. Long rant. I appreciate you and all that MzeroA has opened up for me and for allowing me to prove to myself that this is indeed obtainable. So thank you for all the safety and hard work you and your team do to keep us as educated and safe as possible. See you in the skies.
20 for 20! Another great video with real life flying. Things don't always go as expected or anticipated and we need to make good, safe decisions even if it could mean turning around and cancel the visit -especially for anyone like me being VFR.
20/20. Another great video, Jason (and family). A good reminder of what to do when weather changes as it always seems to. I had to do that once when clouds got less scattered than forecast even without any rain. Your little girl is so adorable.
Pop-up or upgrading to IFR is such a safer alternative than pushing on VFR or Special VFR in bad wx. Did a pop-up last week albeit just for an RNP practice into YMMB in a Cirrus .
20 for 20, Enjoyed the real time and real world flying, There is no doubt you have the skills for all types of situations!! Great Job and great controller! Love your teaching style.
My most memorable pop-up was a few years ago coming home to western Pennsylvania from Sun n Fun. I departed VFR after the afternoon airshow and wasn't even able to get flight following until past Jacksonville because the controllers were too busy. Once over Virginia talking to Washington Center I had to get a clearance to make it the last few hundred miles. The controllers did a great job keeping me well clear of the thunderstorms around Pittsburgh that night, and the ADS-B radar was a big help as well. I've had a few other pop-up clearances as well, always while already on VFR flight following, which makes it pretty easy.
20/20. I had a pop up IFR just happen about two weeks ago. The weather showed VFR at destination in Iowa. When I left Michigan the skies were broken and I was able to get up above the 4,000 base to a clear blue sky. I flew at 16,000 over Lake Michigan but when I got writhing 40 miles of destination the skies became totally overcast. It was not a thick layer but it was definitely overcast. I was on flight following and simply called Minneapolis Center and they cleared me in. Piece of cake. Strangely enough, I’m planning a flight to Leesburg, FL in the next couple weeks, to see my mother.
20 for 20! Nope, I never had a pop-up IFR while flying VFR. Great video as usual, and I got a kick out of seeing your daughter grooving it in her seat. 😊 Cherish those cute little moments. Kids really do grow up so fast. Thank you for this cool "Slice of a pilot's life" video. ❤
20/4/20. N177VC. Had to use Pop up IFR once, Left St Augustine VFR. Lantana VFR when leaving KSGJ. Lantana turned IFR and had to do pop up to get in. My real lesson, avoid summer afternoon flying in FL. Better to return next morning almost every time!
20/20. Had to get a pop up half way through private. My instructor and I got caught on top of a cloud layer that filled in over Lake Apopka. Got actual time as part of my 3 hours when my instructor let me fly it through the layer
20 for 20! Needed pop-up IFR in the Bonanza A36, returning from Pecan Plantation Texas 0TX1 to Fort Collins KFNL. I was already on flight following, so already talking to ATC. I had many vectors around the bad weather, IFR in the soup. I always remain IFR current. I loved Ella dancing and singing in the back seat! Loved the great yawn for a boring landing by Ella. jer/ Eberhard Mountain Flying Aviation, based KFNL for Colorado, Utah and Idaho Backcountry flight instruction.
20 for 20: Ah, the mystical pop-up IFR clearance. I have heard of this dark magic but have never seen it. Since all my IFR time was getting my rating I filed my IFR flight plan in DUATS before every flight. With all the prior chart-and-dart planning done before each training flight the pop-up IFR clearance seemed like such an overwhelming procedure. Thanks for showing what it looks like in a real-world environment. When I will the lottery I'm gonna have to by Jason an M600!!!!
20 for 20 and never had the opportunity to request a pop up IFR. But I love the view of the Mt Dora area. I can’t wait for the opportunity to land a seaplane on Lake Harris and sail / taxi into KLEE. Another great aviation video from MzeroA!
20-4-20! Great video! This kind of shifting around would make me nervous… loved the “Tiny Dancer” in the background! My daughter used to do that. She’s all grown up now! 😁
20 for 20. I have done done only a few pop ups. I just had to do one a week ago. Clouds were forecasted to clear at 10am at my destination, but when I checked the ATIS around 50 miles out it was OVC 1200 feet. I usually file IFR because I’m a cloud magnet. 😜
20 for 20! Sometimes we’d get pop-up storms in eastern San Diego, usually during the summer. I got caught in one once, but was lucky enough to have been only ten miles out from the airport.
20/20. I was flying with foggles to practice some approaches and the (summer!) clouds rolled in and I had to get a pop-up because it went IFR (well, I was in clouds at altitude... the field was still VFR)...Fun stuff!
Great content, production value and presentation, as per usual. Some gental pushback however. With my fam on board, an ADSB screen like at 3:58, field reporting IFR, ….. I probably would have diverted nearby, for a short time, to get a clearer picture, see what’s up, and reattempt. Of course though, pilot experience and plane capability are important factors as well, just not sure less capable of either should attempt anything similar. Just my 2 cents, others may disagree ✈️
20 for 20. I had to do a pop-up IFR. I was in the practice area and it was nice VFR weather and then these slow moving clouds wanted to sit around the airport. I called in for a pop up and they gave it to me for I can land safely on 17.
20/20. I've only done one pop up since being instrument rated since 2008. It was last November and after a flight to breakfast with the family, wx dropped between us and our destination. I also was asked if I was qualified and the plane was capable. Is that common? I only saw it on your video and my experience, and not on other videos.....not sure if that's just do to editing. Thanks again for the great series.
20 for 20, the only pop-up I've seen is on my computer screen. We're completely grounded here in Chicago due to the freezing temps. Thank you Jason I learn a new thing every time I watch your videos, you're the best.
20/20 It sounded like your daughter yawned during your landing, which is a good sign ;-)

20/20, good things to keep in mind for my instrument, loved the dance moves, thanks Jason!
20 4 20 🎉 in 2024 🎉🎉 I enjoyed the dance in the back ☺️
Excellent video showing the need to always be prepared for the unexpected!
Pop-up or upgrading to IFR is such a safer alternative than pushing on VFR or Special VFR in bad wx. Did a pop-up last week albeit just for an RNP practice into YMMB in a Cirrus .
20 for 20. Learning as much as I can. That way when I am able to get my license I am steps ahead! My daughter dances all the time also!
Great call. Loving following your vids from a wet windy Manchester England. Keep goin Man
Nice video of real life flying. The kids were great.
20 for 20. Also based in Florida, KSPG. Have also had to get a popup IFR clearance to land. Great series.
20 for 20, Enjoyed the real time and real world flying, There is no doubt you have the skills for all types of situations!! Great Job and great controller! Love your teaching style.
20 for 20!
Ella is Adorable!!
Great Controller, Super Helpful!!!
Another great video Jason!
THANK YOU 🙏
ET
20/20 you're rockin, the first few times picking up a pop up IFR was a challenge, then all of a sudden I got it
Had to do a pop up IFR on my way home from Oshkosh last year. Into Lancaster and all went well! ATC very helpful!
My most memorable pop-up was a few years ago coming home to western Pennsylvania from Sun n Fun. Pop ups off military low levels for wx at speed…always fun and busy. Love those ATC folks for helping!
20 for 20! Good to see how you handle a real time in-flight weather issue, well done!
20 for 20. very good video... You always need to be ready to replan you flight if needed.
20/20. I've done a few IFR Pop-ups. They can be a life-saver.
20/20 great video and fantastic outcome. I flew USCG helicopters. If we weren’t doing special VFR, we were getting pop-up IFR.
I really like the actual situation experience.
I’m back caught up after the past couple days being busy with work. Great quality videos, very informative!
20/20 lovely family, dance moves and scenery.
20 for 20 Weather has its own mind.! As always Thank you.
20/20. I had a pop up IFR just happen about two weeks ago. The weather showed VFR at destination in Iowa. 20/20 Appreciate the practical application!
20 for 20 love how you involve your family.
Really enjoying the series! Thanks for all the work!
So what do you guys think - could Jason still land a plane flying from the left seat? ;)
20 for 20 I had never heard of a Popup IFR before today. Jason, Thanks sharing with us!!! Nice dance moves! Go Ella Go!!!!
20 for 20. I've seen others request pop up IFR clearance before so I appreciated this video.
I am 20 for 20 and this is perfect since I'm doing my IPC this week!!!
20 for 20. Loved the big yawn when papa is landing :)
20 for 20. Great video and some awesome moves in the back seat!
That landing was amazing!
20/20. This is fun and super interesting on many levels. Thanks.
Have to love the yawning kid on touchdown

20 of 20 Great dance moves!! I have to say "Love the yawn during landing" loads of confidence in Dad's skills. Great video.
I was about to make the same comment!
20 for 20. Man, if hate to miss one for lots of reasons. Very good format for this lesson.
Great real world demonstration, Jason!
Love the real videos...good call!
20 of 20!! Thanks!! Not IFR yet but this will be good for the future.

20 for 20! Roger That ! Thanks Jason !
20 for 20. Great example!!
20 for 20. I'm hoping to keep the pop ups to just jack-in-the-boxes, but it's nice to be prepared, thanks, Jason!
Thanks Jason, another winner !
Few days off. Catching up. Great stuff.
20/20 and great dance moves in the back seat.
I can now see the value in having an IFR aircraft. I am now 20 for 20 Thanks.

20 for 20. Thanks, Jason, for the great videos.
20/20. Had to get a pop up half way through private. My instructor and I got caught on top of a cloud layer that filled in over Lake Apopka. Got actual time as part of my 3 hours when my instructor let me fly it through the layer

Good afternoon, 20 for 20. Working on my IFR currently, so I can't say that is an experience that I have had up to this point.
20/31 complete. Thanks for doing this
I will catch up. I have practiced IFR ILS approach in simulator several times. Did a missed approach and DME arc from hold.
20 for 20 here!! Very nice training!
My favorite instructor 💪🏼
20 for 20 and never had the opportunity to request a pop up IFR. But I love the view of the Mt Dora area. I can’t wait for the opportunity to land a seaplane on Lake Harris and sail / taxi into KLEE. Another great aviation video from MzeroA!
20/20 I’ve done pop up IFR for practice but not in real IMC. Dancing was great!
20-4-20! Great video! This kind of shifting around would make me nervous… loved the “Tiny Dancer” in the background! My daughter used to do that. She’s all grown up now! 😁
20 for 20 awesome for situational awarness
20 for 20! Loving the IFR content!

Had to catch up over the weekend, but 20 for 20!
20 for 20 I will be watching many of these multiple times
20 for 20 here. I’d love to eventually be able to take my family out on a trip like yours.
20/20. I was flying with foggles to practice some approaches and the (summer!) clouds rolled in and I had to get a pop-up because it went IFR (well, I was in clouds at altitude... the field was still VFR)...Fun stuff!
20 for 20. Love the dancing.
20 for 20.. I did a pop up IFR in Sept due to some weather in Talkeetna Alaska. Very interesting changes in a short period of time.
20 for 20!! Great video!!
