The scene the traumatized me was a shuttle scene. When that man picked up that casket by himself and threw it in the car, I was spooked 😂😂😂…unnatural strength
Great reaction pugg! The ending of your video was hilarious. As per the ending of the movie. The gravestone for Jodi was the older brother. So technically part of if not the whole movie was a dream sequence. However something still did happen between Mike and the tall man. He even blames the tall man for his parents and Jodi’s death. Which was why he still came for him. The movies get even weirder if you can believe it. The next film you get to see what phantasm is like with a bigger budget.
there’s a funny commentary by the actor who played the kid in this where he talks about how no matter how hard he tries or how much he styles his hair, he can’t get those curls back
A classic, absolutely love this one, my mom rip she told me about this movie years ago she was not a big fan of horror movies but she liked this one and she would talk about The tall Man. When she showed it to me the part with the shotgun shell and the hammer she immediately looked over at me and was like "don't get any ideas" lol, this house was used in many horror movies one I highly recommend is called "burnt offerings" with Betty Davis
When my college buddies and I first watched this for the first time (packed in my dorm room in 1999), I couldn't help shouting "Utinni!" every time the evil jawas showed up. I also happened to have the MacGyver theme as an MP3 on my computer, and I predicted the "escape from the bedroom" scene in time to play it as Mike executes his escape plan. I was proud of myself for weeks.
Oh, and if you want to see a movie that needs an edible, or perhaps a tab of acid, you might consider Zardoz (1974). The most fascinating so-bad-its-good movie ever made to star Sean Connery.
The car that Jodie and Mike drive is a 1971 Plymouth 'Cuda, with custom pin striping. In fact, the car in the original film disappeared and no one knows what happened to it after the filming of this movie. The '71 was the only year model in which the 'Cuda had four headlights. But the inclusion of the 'Cuda in this film became a part of the film series' iconography (kinda like how people think of the cabin in Evil Dead, or Jason's hockey mask when it comes to the Friday The 13th films, or Freddy's hat, sweater and glove in A Nightmare on Elm Street), along with the flying sphere and Reggie's shotgun in the second film (you'll see what I mean). Also, funny you mention the dwarves looking like Jawas. The movie was being filmed when Star Wars came out, and someone told the director about it. He decided to just roll with it.
Monster house. Ernest Scared Stupid. American Werewolf in London. The Howling. (I’ll try to think of more but I think you’ve already watched my favorites.)
When released in the US it was rated 'R'. It was going to be 'X' because of the sheer volume of blood the silver orb pumped out of that guy, so they shortened the scene a bit and recolored the spreading blood as white so it wasn't as noticeable to get down to 'R'.
@@SunshineLoLypops sure, but I can't speak to those. Just thought I would mention what caused the rating issue in the US. Might have been the same scene in Australia.
FINALLY!!! (I guess You Me & the Movies and Ashleigh Burton don't have to watch it anymore. I. Am. VINDICATED!!!) (I have told EVERYONE to watch / react to this movie... Do they listen? Some of them did.)
The shotgun hammer thing would technically work, it just wouldn’t be very effective at blowing a hole through the door. The shotgun shell would explode under pressure but without a barrel it would just explode everywhere and probably blow all of the kid’s fingers off 😂
There's a movie called "Dead and Breakfast" where they take pipes, stick a shotgun shell in one end, hit it with a hammer and it worked like a shotgun. Is that plausible?
Steady stream!!! I saw this movie in 1985. ( I have to return some video tapes) I probably haven't seen it since, but the second I read the title, I thought of the mausoleum scene. That stream is the visual I get when I hear the word Phantasm.
8:31 Nawwwwwwwwww Milo is so adorable, laying in your arms like a lil babyy (having learned his lesson in air jail, no doubt xD) Edit: Nevermind, he went back to attack mode a few seconds later lol (still cute tho)
I immediately clicked on this, as Phantasm is arguably one of my favorite horror films as well as my favorite horror film series. It gets stranger and more wild with each entry, though it does reward those who get to the 4th film Oblivion with some fascinating stuff that adds context to the series’s mythos and lore. ☺️ As for a recommendation for this time of year, I highly suggest the dark and insanely violent slasher film Pieces (1982). It has an at times funny dub due to it being a joint Spanish-American production, and it has some insane moments across its plot. 😄
Great reaction here. This is the first time I’ve seen anyone react to this underrated gem of a horror classic. Please watch the other ones, the whole series gets progressively weirder as the movies go on.
Oh man what a classic. I was 15 when that came out. Cheesiest effects, but that silver ball was AWESOME. Learned many years later that the ball was on a monofilament line and they just threw it - the way it was attached made it look like it turned the corner by itself.
This is one of my dad's favorite movies and one that i watched with him. I believe we rented it and it haunted me. It's so weird and creepy and I remember having him pull my mattress into their room so I could sleep on the floor. This movie still confuses me to this day and I know I've seen the second one but not the many that come after that. Such a creepy weird movie.
Fun fact: When this was released in Australia, the title was changed to "The Never Dead" to avoid confusion with a 1976 Australian softcore film called "Fantasm"
I also like most of the sequels to this movie. They rarely make much sense but when you consider that a phantasm is a delusion or a figment of the imagination, are they even supposed to? As always, 10 out of 10 reaction.
I'm glad you so this alex. This scared me so much as a young teen. My mom saw it when it came out and made me watch it. If you watch any more skip 2 as it has nothing to do with the brothers
One of my favorite weed songs samples the Phantasm theme song. And one of my favorite N64 games had a wea pon inspired by the metal flying ball. It was a called the Cerebral Bore. #MasterP #Turok2
Phantasm is one of those rare horror films that has a completely original premise. This one, unlike others, could actually benefit from a remake that also expands on the mythology.
Not sure where you heard the x rating from but when I saw this as a child it was rated R. It was really cool watching then. The soundtrack really sets it off. 🎃🔪
Phantasm 1 and 2 are my favs, but for real, this series just gets weirder and weirder as it goes along. That's not necessarily a bad thing, though. From 3 on, it's kinda almost gets "comic-book"-y. But still cool. The last in the series (5) is my least fav, but it was still cool to see them wrap everything up. And like I said in my other comment, there's really no other series like this.
the og phantasm feels like so many dreams ive had through life. the vibe, the creepiness, the blurry motives etc
3:25 Don't think I didn't notice the guy round the corner.
Milo was the real horror of this video 😂😼
I am so happy you’re doing this one!!!!!
Phantasm 2 is even weirder!!!
DO THE WHOLE SERIES it’s right up your alley .. actually disturbing with just the right amount of funny and interesting
The tall man did BOYYYYY first before kratos
Kratos wishes he could say BOOYYYY as well as The Tall Man
The scene the traumatized me was a shuttle scene. When that man picked up that casket by himself and threw it in the car, I was spooked 😂😂😂…unnatural strength
Cult-Classics really are the most incredible horror films.

lol Milo definitely chose violence today!
Of all the movies, THIS is the one that puts Milo the Horror Cat in a playful mood?
bro, this is a fooking classic! RIP Angus Scrimm
Every 70s child has the most unfortunate hair
Former 70s child. Can confirm. I had a "shag". The pictures online of what that looked like are too good. They are not a shag haircut.
Well in Australia in the 2020s most men have mullets! It's so bad 🥲
@@erinnadia0409 Ouch.
there’s a funny commentary by the actor who played the kid in this where he talks about how no matter how hard he tries or how much he styles his hair, he can’t get those curls back
OMFG. my favourite horror franchise. kids know BOY, from God of War. i know BOY from this

One of the best movies to watch with Puggapillar! Would love to see you react to another forgotten classic: Burnt Offerings (1976).
Lol! Just saw the end of Burnt Offerings today! I think he should see Trilogy of Terror. Also with Karen Black.
When my college buddies and I first watched this for the first time (packed in my dorm room in 1999), I couldn't help shouting "Utinni!" every time the evil jawas showed up.

There's literally no other horror movie/series like Phantasm. Thanks for the reaction!!
Phantasm was one of those franchises I never got into, but I remember the first one.
"What happened to that guy?" That would be Jody.
Mausoleum.
Grew up in the 70s and this was my older brother's favorite horror movie. He just loved that silver ball and would always told about it.
4:29
The 1970s were amazing cars. I'd love to have one but I can only imagine finding vehicle parts for a classic like this would be expensive.
Thanks That he did PHANTASM I Love This Movie

2:46 lol that voice. Heard that in this movie called Magic Island. This is Phantasmic!! And then there's...Fantasmic
Aight that cut at 3:26 was preme af 🔥 scared tf outta me 😂😱

Bloody love this movie...such a cool premise and awesome theme song too. 🎃🍿
An understated masterpiece of a thriller.
Fun fact who allegedly done that in a cemetery: Mary and Percy Shelley on the grave of her mother

I'm 59 and this was my absolute favorite childhood horror movie!
Same age, but didn't understand it till later. Mighta been the 70's grass!

I first saw this at twelve years old. It's alot for a kid. 😅 I loved it, though, and no nightmares for me. It's actually a nice memory.
Classic movie at last!!! Loved this reaction BOY!

26:00 the best stuff ever
A creepier than I’d man was in Poltergeist 2, still spooky.
My all time favorite horror film!
I strongly recommend the 1990 film" The witches" the prosthetics and the effects of that film love it that and Angelica Houston is amazing!
Great reaction here. This is the first time I’ve seen anyone react to this underrated gem of a horror classic. Please watch the other ones, the whole series gets progressively weirder as the movies go on.

I saw this when I was like 10... I still think of the scenes with the box goblin and the kitchen sink 18 years later!
Whenever my cat does something bad, I go "BOOOYYYYY!!!!!" 😂 This series is bizarre.
My wife and I just finished watching the series of this last week. Talk about timing 😂
I love all these movies except the last one.

You don't even have to be a professional lip reader. 🤣

I'm sure someone already told you. It's a mausoleum. 🤭
Fun fact: When this was released in Australia, the title was changed to "The Never Dead" to avoid confusion with a 1976 Australian softcore film called "Fantasm"
A true horror original, not merely a classic.
Hope you have a wonderful day pug
You were close - they are called a "mausoleum".😜
Edit: Yup!😅
The sphere with the drill is the inspiration for the Cerebral Bore in Turok 2: Seeds of Evil.
so much better then the one in the second :>
23:15 stopppp I loved spy vs spy as a kid
You must do a reaction to re-animator! Since you enjoyed evil dead, you’ll enjoy re-animator. It’s amazing!
7:03
Neapolitan.. 😂
Me too.
16 year old me would frequent the cemetery quite often, now after all the horror movies I would wonder if some thing was going to grab me.
This series is the last thing I expected but 2 is a fucking banger aswell!
The Quad barrel shotgun is an icon of horror.
2 and 3 are some of the most batshit movies I have ever seen and are a GREAT time
Made on a budget of 300K. That makes this basically another one of those old home movies made by friends that exploded into a classic.
1:44
Yes! 😂
Chucky gave me a fear of small people, phantasm gave me a fear of tall people, and Texas chainsaw massacre gave me a fear of people of average height
Great job brother ❤
Milo was feeling frisky this time.
When you lifted Milo up I was so scared ye was going to fall
I also like most of the sequels to this movie. They rarely make much sense but when you consider that a phantasm is a delusion or a figment of the imagination, are they even supposed to?
As always, 10 out of 10 reaction.
Another off the wall thriller is Susperia (the original version from 1977).
You need to watch Death Becomes Her. It’s a great Halloween movie
Small towns before the internet cemeteries made for all kinds of entertainment!
You must keep Milo's claws fairly trimmed. If my cat latched onto my arm like that, I'd need to wrap it in bandages after she sliced my forearm up.
To answer the "cemetery question..." Yup! ☠️🎃💀🤡👻
At night, of course! 🌚
omg what WAS IT LIKE?! WAS IT CREEPY???
I'm glad you so this alex. This scared me so much as a young teen. My mom saw it when it came out and made me watch it. If you watch any more skip 2 as it has nothing to do with the brothers
Saw this movie with my dad good film I need to find the other movies though
i used to have full DVD set. came in a box in the shape of the flying Balls. even had attachable blade on it

Phantasm is one of those rare horror films that has a completely original premise.

Ther was a recent book published called Phiction that expands a bit
As others have said, these movie feels like a nightmare which has lots of dream logic.

Check out The Mouse Trap and Agatha All Along, there right up your ally!!!!
4:17 UNDER THE GRAVEYARD

You should check out "Return of the Living Dead". Censoring WILL be involved though. Classic horror comedy.
A cult classic and one of the best musical scores to a film next to John Carpenter's Halloween.
Lake Mungo, please!
I love this movie ❤
React to Misery too.
He’ll freak when he sees the hobbling scene.

The music giving me anxiety. 😬😬😬
I love this film. It’s one of the best examples of a film that operates on dream logic. The sequels, while fun, kinda lose that hypnogogic quality.
I never liked this much, but i liked this reaction.
Such a shame.. the expansion of the ideas in the whole series are really fun
Fun lore
