I think your double crimp bead will be a big help to me. I will definitely be trying this. I've not had any luck making a stretch bracelet yet. I'm just starting out in making jewelry.
I enjoy your videos very much you should've been a teacher because I have learned a lot from you I appreciate this tutorials more than you know even though it's been six years ago that you put this content out I don't think jewelry making and or bead making will ever go away thank you for sharing
Hi Julie, have just come upon your lovely bead making tutorials and I'm hooked! Such clear, easy to follow instructions so a new skill for me to experiment with. Thank you!
Greetings from France. CONGRATULATIONS 🏆🏆🏆 that was amazing. You are ABSOLUTELY right never seen others use this technique by the Great Inventor. You are truly a blessing to me. I tie my elastic and add glue which becomes a bit "blobby" and then have a hard time hiding the blob. I MUST try this. Thanks for sharing caring and making me smile 👍👍👍😍😍😍💐💐💐
Pure genius! I have never seen anyone do a double crimped stretch bracelet, and I’ve been making these types of bracelets for several years. Typically, I just pass the stretch cord several times through the beads and tie the ends off. However, this makes an extra large knot that is extremely difficult to hide-but I do manage to hide it in a large holed bead. This method does not require a large holed bead and I can save on the amount of stretch cord I use. Thanks so much for sharing.
I’ve always heard that you want to stretch the stretch cord before you put the beads on. Have you had anyone tell you that the bracelet stretched out after wearing? Love this idea. Your beads are beautiful
Julie, I love the idea of using the 2 crimps on elastic bracelets, i was happy that you were easy to hear and understand. Also so grateful I fell upon your tube..I'm not crazy about paper beads yet. I'm sure I will get there. Thanks for a great video and look forward to many many more from you. Kim 💕
Thank you for such a great idea. I never make stretch brackets because I'm afraid that they will come apart. After watching your video (which is great) I'm going to try it. I too love paper beads. I've been making them since I was a child (I'm now 69) and was thrilled that other people knew about paper beads. You are wonderful!!
Great Idea. I've had to re-do a lot of stretch bracelets because over the years, they have stretched out. Who knew! P.S. try the second squeeze in the area further toward the handle of the crimp tool.
Thrilled to find your video (by happy accident)! Brillant idea and I'm especially greateful to you for sharing it. I love how much more professional & secure this finish is and now I will finally make a stretch bracelet. The other finishes seemed so cheesey to me, I just could'nt settle but this is a winner, kudos to you!
That's ingenious! Thank you so much. I must say, I have been beading for only a little while and I'm learning so much looking at the online tutorials. I didn't know about the bracelet board or the heavy wall crimp beads. Thank you for sharing where you purchased it.
Great video! I’ve done something similar with crimp beads (a friend showed me about a year ago, maybe she saw your tutorial?). She also shared to dip a toothpick in glue and gently tap the glue onto both ends of the crimps before placing the crimp bead cover together (if room allowed). L It was sometimes tricky to ensure glue did not get onto the neighboring beads before covering. She was just trying to help me using techniques like yours as I struggled with the knots, I have trouble tying a knot on a 🎈😜. (Good thing I was never a sailor 😳)
You are a good teacher. Very nice voice and good information. I discovered this method a couple summers go while making a gift for a friend. It's good that you posted this to help others. This info would never be shares by me because videos are not "my thing"... LOL. I look forward to checking out other videos you've made. 👍🏻💖
Always pre-stretch your stretch cord. Otherwise it will weaken. I have stretch bracelets that have lasted ten years with stretched cord. Unstretched only last a few years at most.
Thank you so much for sharing your idea! I have not been happy with the knot & super glue way. I will be making bracelets for a craft fair at our school so I saw this in the nick of time 😊 Thanks again!
I always thought it's not a good idea to do this as it breaks through the elastic. But I will try it as I have no success with knotting. No matter how I tie & stick it never holds. Thank you
Hello Julie Watching this great video I think I’m missing something,,is the crimp bead the same size as a crimp cover bead ? And when you said thick I tried to understand what to buy so maybe is it possible to everything on Amazon you used accordingly to size I’m new to beading this way ,,,But make paper beads also.. Sending hugs from California 💖🇺🇸
Julie your video was awesome.... easy to understand and easy to listen to... I just have a question: so the crimp bead, when flattened, doesn't cut thru the elastic? I'm pretty sure it must not or you wouldn't do them that way. LOL.. but I have used beadalon plastic beading wire ( metal coated in plastic) for other projects and I have been known to have the crimp bead cut through the metal wire and ruin a project.. I have never used a crimper and maybe just the fact that you squeeze the crimp bead flat and then fold it in half may have something to do with my concern. I think you have come up with a brilliant idea as knotting that stretchy plastic is sometimes enough to make a girl take up knitting instead! LOL I look forward to your reply.
There are different types of crimp beads. I make sure I use the crimp beads with a thicker wall on them. Beadalon makes crimp tubes for working with Stretch cord. There are different sizes of crimp tubes that go with specific sizes of the stretch cords that are out there. The thicker walled crimp tubes are less apt to cut through the cord. When I am making bracelets, I always use a crimping tool. It helps to crimp them correctly so it won't cut through the elastic.
They come in various sizes. You would want to look for crimp beads that say they are for crimping elasticity cord. Elasticity is the brand name offered by Beadalon. I know thick walled crimp beads are more expensive but worth the extra money.
Most of the bracelets I make have small 4mm beads between the paper beads so the crimp bead covers are there to replace the 4mm beads that are between the paper beads. Also not all beads have holes big enough to hide the crimp beads in.
So glad to know I'm not the only one who has trouble doing the second crimp. It always pops out of the crimping pliers or twists and refuses to fold over. 🤨
@@JustPlainFun I may enter our small craft fair in a small town in Colorado. Just wondering about how much inventory and cost for bracelets made with elastic. In Louisiana, my mask holders were selling very well at a hospital, especially in the administrative offices where it was mandatory to wear masks all the time. The staff were “wearing” them as an accessory to match their clothes. They sold for $15 to $18, depending if they had matching earrings. It afforded me to be able to buy a Cricut Explore Air 2. In a craft fair, I’m at a lost as to inventory and cost. I would appreciate any advice you could give me. (My daughter-in-law is from Princeton, Maine. We were fortunate to visit their several times in the last few years. Grand Lake is a hidden treasure.) Thank you. Jerry 👩🏻❄️🍡⚜️
Your idea is brilliant! I do not like the “ knot method”.. I cant wait to try this method!.. Thank you so much! You said the crimp covers are 4 MM; what size Crimps do you use on the .8 Elastic please? Thank you in advance! I just subscribed to your channel.. Can’t wait to see your other videos!.. 🤙🤙🤙
I use what ever size the crimp bead needs to cover it. The .8 cord will fit through 2mm crimp beads so I would use the crimp bead covers that will cover them. 3 or 4mm.
You don't want to use the thin walled crimp beads with elastic. The thick walled crimp beads are fine. Elasticity elastic is made for using elasticity crimp beads that are made for the elastic. I have used other crimp beads with other elastics without any trouble with them breaking. Of course, elastic does weaken with age and becomes brittle over time so no matter what elastic or method you use to secure the ends, eventually the elastic will break and will need to be replaced.
Hello Julie. Just found your video. I'm going to try this because I really don't like using knots. It's just my opinion but unless you can hide it, it makes the piece look cheap... remember, just my opinion!! One question though, do you pre stretch the cord? I've seen instructions that say to do that. Just wondering.
I was wondering why you would use crimp ‘beads’ until you said to cover them with ‘crimp bead covers’.... They are actually called crimp *tubes* & covered by crimp *beads*. It’s a nice bracelet but the crimp tubes can actually cut the elastic, so a safer way is to tie 2-3 knots, add a dab of super glue, dry then cover with a crimp ‘bead’.
There are crimp beads and crimp tubes. The crimp beads actually look like little round beads and don't need crimp covers. There are also different thicknesses of crimp tubes. The thicker ones work well with elastic and will not cut the elastic if used correctly. I have made several bracelets in this way and none of them broke at the place where the crimp tube is. Also there are actually crimp tubes that are made for working with elastic. The thin walled crimp tubes will cut through the elastic. Look up the brand name Elasticity. They are the ones that make crimp tubes for elastic. They also make elastic that is made for their crimp tubes. You also have to use the right crimp tube for the size elastic you are using.
Elastoma is the only stretch cord that states it can be crimped. I add a tiny dash of G-S Hypo Cement right before crimping just in case. See video on how to properly crimp Elastoma...th-cam.com/video/LHAg42r0XLs/w-d-xo.html
Elastoma is not the only stretch cord that can be crimped. That video was made in 2008. Since then, Beadalon has started selling Elasticity stretch cord that can be crimped. They also sell crimp beads for the different sizes of elasticity they offer. www.beadalon.com/products/crimp_tubes_for_stretch_cord.asp

I have been beading for quite a while, and I still don’t have any luck with elastic bracelets!

Can you Tell me where to purchase the 4 mm crimp tubes and crimp bead covers? Do you have them on your website?
The best way i have seen . Thank you.

It seems to be working
Perfect instructions and explanation. Love it!
Julie Bolduc how do you prestretch elastic before making a bracelet with it?? Thanks for your video, it was very informative‼️
I just cut the length I need, grab a hold of both ends and pull to stretch a few times.
What a great tutorial. Thank you.
LOVE your videos
Thank you!
Patricia
Great ideas! Blessings
I watch this in 2023..thanks Julie
Great idea thanks. I never heard of thick walled crimp beads. Is there a millimeter size?
They come in various sizes. You would want to look for crimp beads that say they are for crimping elasticity cord. Elasticity is the brand name offered by Beadalon. I know thick walled crimp beads are more expensive but worth the extra money.
When I make mine I don’t take them off for A year or two
I heard you perfectly, good job.
Awesome, very clear instructions 💜
Why are my crimp tubes and beads falling apart as I try to crimp them? I have used different brands. Any reccomendations?
Make sure you are using a thicker walled crimp bead. They tend to work better. They're not as fragile as thin-walled crimp beads.
Genius idea. But why do you need to use a crimp cover if the beads are are going to hide the knot? Won't it make it too bulky for the bead to hide it?
Most of the bracelets I make have small 4mm beads between the paper beads so the crimp bead covers are there to replace the 4mm beads that are between the paper beads. Also not all beads have holes big enough to hide the crimp beads in.
Great idea. I think I’ll use it on my necklaces I am making
you should stretch heco before stringing to void stretching l
Yep you are right. I just forgot about that when I filmed this video.
So glad to know I'm not the only one who has trouble doing the second crimp. It always pops out of the crimping pliers or twists and refuses to fold over. 🤨
I just love it!!
Awesome video, loved it.
Very helpful...Thank you, I will use this technique
Awesome video, thank you!!!
This helped me a lot! Thank you!
Do you prestrech your cord?
I do now but I didn’t at the time of filming this video.
Your idea is great, love your video so I subscribed to watch some more! 😊
Did you stretch the elastic cord slightly before stringing? Thank you. Jerry
Yes I do.

Could you do this with the wire?
Artshealing, it wouldnt work with wire because it wouldnt stretch over your hand
Unless you want a bangle, that might work.
I have seen other ppl do the two crimp beads and they still do come apart..
Your idea is brilliant! I do not like the “ knot method”.. I cant wait to try this method!.. Thank you so much! Doesn't the crimp bead cut the cord?? I'm going to try this!!
Not if you get the thicker walled crimp beads.
Beads or tubes?
I like to use crimp tubes for this technique. They crimp better for covering with crimp covers.
Awesome
Thank you sharing this was wonderful.
Great Idea

I usually do pre-stretch the cord. It makes it easier to work with when you do.

I bought it from Amazon.com a.co/5iXlcQg

Awesome!!!
Julie, would u recommend sterling silver or silver plated crimp beads?
I use silver plated crimp beads since they don't cost as much. You can use sterling silver if you want to however.
I thought the sterling may be softer and less likely to 'eat' through the elastic. but I will use the plated if I can get away with it. :)
Just remember, no matter what you use to finish a stretch bracelet, it will break over time. The double crimping will make it last longer.

Can't understand what you are saying?? you are breaking up really bad!!!!
