    Brett,
    Thank you for putting this together. I have felt overwhelmed with just the thought of starting a TH-cam channel but you make it so simple. You broke it down into small chunks and you didn't move so fast that I had to constantly pause and replay throughout the entire video. I think that sometimes instructors are so comfortable with their material that they forget to slow it down for those of us that are trying to learn a "new thing".
    Thanks

After viewing 15 videos that were not helpful at all I found your video and I want to thank you for being real. Your awesome!

So check out the announcement video I upload on December 7. :)

      +The Lonely Pikachu That's gotta depend on your software. I would probably just save it from your recording software, in whatever file type (MP4 maybe?). Then see if Movie Maker could open that up and edit it.

    It took me like 2 days to get this layout. I only have 7 subscribers.. only have like 30 views but it doesnt stop me doing what i love to do! I keep on going and maybe one day I get my first 100 subscribers.. It doesnt bother me to stop doing what I love to do.

    • @CreatedByBrett
      @CreatedByBrett  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Well it looks like you uploaded your first video TODAY! :) The more videos you upload, the more subscribers you will get. When I started this channel, I would get about 1 subscriber a day. That kept happening for the first few months, and I kept uploading videos -- at least once a week. Now I have over 30,000 subs. So just stick with it, and keep making videos!

    Hey creators, need your help. I have about 15 different events shot that are just little clips (3 to 90 seconds long). E.g. We went to europe for holidays and I have a bunch of little clips I want to make into a story. Any suggestions in how I can make this into a nice story or examples where similar videos exist. I don't wan't to cut the clips into some sort of a song and leave it at that. However, I am playing a bit with a voiceovers (a written script), ambient sounds etc. All of your suggestions are more than welcome! Thank you in advance people.

    • @reallyreallyfreemusic
      @reallyreallyfreemusic 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Edit the clips to cut out any parts that wouldn't interest a viewer. Then arrange the clips into a logical sequence. A voiceover would probably be appropriate, as would some background music. But make sure the music doesn't obscure your voice...keep it at a lower volume. A quick YT search for vacation videos should give you a general idea of what works. It sounds like you have editing software, so it shouldn't be too difficult.

      Cool. You can upload videos to TH-cam and mark them as "Private" if you want to. If you do that, nobody can watch them unless you list their TH-cam channel name.
      Another option is to upload them to TH-cam and mark them as "Unlisted". That means that people who have the web address for the video can watch it, but nobody else can (except you).

      Chris that sounds great! Be sure it's well lit and there aren't too many weird shadows. The light(s) should be a few feet to the left or right of your camera, and higher than your camera. Also, keep the camera at about the same height as your eyes. :)
      HAVE FUN!!

    • @QueerCripple
      @QueerCripple 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      CreatedByBrett thanks! The reviews for the frame online said it was wobbly, which makes sense as it is for a full size bed and doesn't have much built in support, so my reason for wanting to do wood on one side is for support as much as it is for design. Your tablecloth idea means a cheaper and simpler way for me to do the other sides, and my adaptation to using shower curtains with my metal bed frame will also mean I can literally have a self contained room with curtain door :D I love stuff like that, so you're not only helping my video presentations but with style elements in my room! 😁 Much love and I shall have fun, it's the only reason I wanted to start YouTubing.

      @CreatedByBrett  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cool! It sounds like it's going to work out great!!
      I don't know if I mentioned in the video, but the video will look best if you can use (indirect) daylight or lightbulbs that are "daylight" colored. It looks weird in your room but it looks great on camera.
      It sounds like your setup is going to work out really well for you!

      I have a ceiling light, standing light, a desk lamp and table lamp, so I figured I would use the small lamps in my mini abode~ I also have some Christmas Lights that I thought would be fun to make into a "ceiling light" for under there! I thought it could help in having some general lighting, where the small lamps could help with the focus.

    How do you get more views/subscribers guys????

    • @CreatedByBrett
      @CreatedByBrett  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      First thing: people find new videos by searching. Make sure your video titles, descriptions, and tags are things that people might type into the search box. (I made a really helpful video on this! You can find it on my channel.)
      Second thing: in your video, ask people to comment, and ask them to subscribe.
      Third thing: when people comment, reply to them! Be nice! Be friendly! Be helpful! That has worked well for me. People like it when you reply to them, and they subscribe. :)

    • @actingeternity
      @actingeternity 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Brett, I am confused ....what can I write down in tags?
      I will watch your videos.....thanks for your help! So kind of you!!

    • @CreatedByBrett
      @CreatedByBrett  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      My video on "titles, descriptions and tags" explains it pretty well. The general concept is this: Think about what people would type into TH-cam search when they're looking for a video like yours. If it's about washing a dog, they might type in "wash your dog" or "how to wash a dog" or "clean your pet". So you use those phrases as TAGS. You can also use 1 or 2 of the phrases as your video title. And in the video description, write a few sentence that include those phrases too, but don't just list those phrases because TH-cam may remove your video.

    My vids are terrible :(

    • @CreatedByBrett
      @CreatedByBrett  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I watched your last 2 videos, and they were fine! You know exactly what you want to say, and you say it. You keep a smile on your face. That's better than a lot of new TH-camrs!
      Just a few small tips:
      1) Look at how other big TH-camrs "frame" the shot. That means look at where their head is placed in the video. It may be to the left, or to the right, but their eyes are always towards the top of the frame. You can see some of their chest and shoulders, and the top of their head is right at the top of the frame. So do that in your videos.
      2) Make sure to have something in the background. You shot one of your videos in front of a white wall, and you shouldn't do that. If it's a white background, at least have a closed door behind you. Or a bookcase, or a poster or picture, your bed, something like that.
      But keep making videos! Have fun, smile, and know what you want to tell everybody. You're doing fine! :D

      CreatedByBrett do you think I can earn lots of money from my channel?

    • @CreatedByBrett
      @CreatedByBrett  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I can't even learn lots of money from my channel, and I've been making videos for 10 years. You can probably make a little money, though. You need to set up AdSense, so that TH-cam has a way to pay you. And then you need to let TH-cam "monetize" your videos. That means they put ads on them. The more times the ad plays, the more money you make. Like I said, it's not very much money. But it's kind of nice to get it anyway.

    Ive had my current channel for a few years now but i only made it to save videos i like to watch. Am i able to use this one now that i want to start uploading videos for a channel or should i make a new one just for my "show"? also is there a free movie editor for windows? Im a single income mom with 2 kids and a disabled hubby. Not alot of leftover income after food and bills are paid. My channel is going to be showing how to make filling yummy meals that are easy to do and easy on the pocket book. Help! Please?

    • @CreatedByBrett
      @CreatedByBrett  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you are UPLOADING other videos you like to watch, then start a new channel. But if you're just marking them as "favorite" or adding them to a playlist, then you could easily use this channel to upload your new videos.
      On windows computers, I think you have 2 free video editor options. Neither of them are that great. The first is Windows Movie Maker. I _think_ it still exists, and you can download it as part of windows. There are tutorials online. The second video editing option is the TH-cam video editor! You upload your videos to TH-cam as "PRIVATE" (and option while you're uploading), and then you can edit them into a new video and make it "PUBLIC".
      I've made more videos on my channel that will give you some helpful tips & tricks, like how to be comfortable on camera, how to shoot videos with a cell phone, and how to get more views and subscribers.
      Good luck and have fun!

    • @CreatedByBrett
      @CreatedByBrett  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You will need their videos, and a way to cut out the best parts, and a way to put all those best parts together.
      1) If you download videos from TH-cam, you can use KeepVid. It's a website.
      2) To cut those videos up, and edit them together, you need video editing software. There are many programs available. ALL of them will be able to cut and edit videos the way you are describing. Find one that other people have liked, and make sure it fits in your price range. I currently use Adobe Premiere. In the past, I used iMovie, but that's only available for Apple devices.
      Good luck!
