This was my favorite scene from the game. Throughout the whole game up to this point, we see Malak as a ruthless cold-hearted Sith lord. But standing next to Darth Revan, he's just a timid man. It really elevates Revan's badass level.

Love seeing these two. Just by watching Revan simply pacing the floor you can see the mind of a brilliant strategist and leader at work, methodically planning the next calculated move. All the little details from kotor 2 and the comics that fill in the blanks just make this short scene even sweeter.
you can also see Kriea's teachings in him thinking things through and all possible outcomes, out of all the Master's and teacher's he had Kreia is only one who truly trained him
I feel bad for Malak ultimately he made the decision himself and needs to be held responsible but it is quite apparent that had Revan not encouraged Malak to follow him he would have stayed a jedi.
Loben on the contrary, 9 years later, I think Malak’s lack of self discipline would have inevitably led to him before more of a dark Jedi. Not necessarily sith if you know what I mean lol
SWTOR made me so mad, see here how they are still Jedi worried about leaving the order. Stupid rewrite doesn't make sense that they are some puppets of a bullshit sith emperor.
It is wrong because Revan and Malak were driven by their own motivations of betraying the Jedi, while the Sith Emperor "explanation" just said "NOPE they were just mind controlled to be muhahahah evil" because the writer apparently had no other way of making that villain credible but making Revan and Malak to be complete idiots bidding to that idiot. The original explanation was brilliant Revan did not encounter the True Sith, but the remains of their power on Malachor V, that's why he rose the Sith Empire, to combat a greater threat by sacrificing himself to the Dark side. The Sith Emperor "explanation" just removes the depth of their intentions just to make Vitiate look menacing
Everything that was so mastefully established by Obsidian in KotOR2 was completly flushed down the toilet in The Old Republic. Idea of Revan not falling to the dark side but rather sacrificing himself in order to prepare galaxy for bigger threat is fucking amazing
I so totally agree, Loben. The retcon was pure crap. I liked the old Tales of the Jedi feel of KOTOR. The stupid SWOTOR and the later comics just ruined that feel.

Revan wanted to turn the Republic kill any that opposed him and turn any if he could. Malak had somewhat similar plans. Only Malak wanted to destroy everything. Ha the fool he even killed his own men on taris via bombardment. Wasting your troops is a resource that almost no villian should waste
Malak never had any plans really. All his Sith path is only because of Revan's fault :D i truely recommend you to watch one of Dudu Films Understanding Revan Character :)

I was always wondering what did Malak say to lose his jaw. This scene here was placed in the first game all along and I missed it. After rewatching it makes perfect sense why. Most of the comments on here show why so read up and enjoy smart people typing out the truth of why Malak lost his jaw.
To paraphrase Malak said "The Dark side is strong in here... I can feel its power!". That doesn't sound like a Jedi. Moreover; Malak may have also been thinking wholeheartedly about the Rule of One... "The Jedi Civil War is beginning Revan; and I no longer wish to become a full Jedi, I Malak will now follow the path of the Dark side and the true ancient Sith teachings; as long as I, Malak, become your Apprentice, Revan!". An otherwise powerful cinematic with an interesting Sith undertone; and a hint at a new Dark Lord and Sith Apprentice!

Well the mask he wore was one he recovered from a Mandalorian woman who was killed by her own for refusing to kill the innocent so he swore not to take it off until he avenged her and the dead.

They found this star map before they landed on Dromund Kaas. IIRC they found at least this one and the Kashyyk one before finding the Sith Empire, and at this point they were already so far fallen

Here Malak was not fully corrupt, Revan and Malak were best friends that would have followed him everywhere.
This was early in malaks dark side training, or possibly pre-dark side training
