Well Malak is a dedicated Jedi guardian when he was a Jedi. I do suspect he was a Dedicated Sith Marauder when he is a Sith. Sith Marauders that becomes a Sith Lord are often quite intelligent to become one. True that Sith Marauder are quite aggressive in battle and can learn Sith Sorcery if they have a chance.

Malak did have a fatal flaw though. His plan to conquer the republic didn't care about how well off the galaxy was post conflict. It would have taken them far longer to recover under him leaving the galaxy at greater risks of threats to come later. Revan however knew they were coming and was more careful to keep things more intact. He knew the value of keeping at least some pawns on the board.
Malak the general is brilliant, in a direct and brutal way. It’s no accident the Sith Army remained intact and cohesive under Malak even after usurping Revan through intrigue rather than combat. He would be a brilliant general, but a terrible administrator.
Malak is a good soldier and great at conquering empires but not building them. Revan was a great general and great at building Empires. I am pretty sure they mention that in game. How Revan would strike with efficiency leaving key assets and a solid foundation intact while Malak just conquered and crushed anything that moved. Question is this though. How far would Malak have gotten without the Starforge? That thing is an unsurpassed weapon of war.
Malak is more of a tactician while Revan is a better strategist. That's probably how Revan beat him too. Malak was more likely winning the beginning of their fight, then Revan started to adapt and make it even halfway. By the end Revan would time Malak and use his aggression against him.
It should be said that Malak is not only an eerie homage to Darth Vader, but he's also an example of what happens if the apprentice successfully overthrows the master. And for me, Malak is actually scarier than Vader since I grew up with him. Having to fight him in that final battle on the Star Forge was frightening for me, and years later I still get chills whenever I go after him.

It was mentioned that Malak was the best lightsaber duelist in his time, even being more skilled in it than Revan himself while Revan was more powerful and skilled with the force. Even his force lightning was much more devastating than anything Malak could conjure

While yes, dooku was ordered to hold back and even be dismembered he is the overall better duelist but anakins lightsaber form prioritises strength which countered dookus form. And yet in the clone wars we see them time and time again evenly matched but dooku was allowed to kill anakin by sidious he could in lightsaber combat alone. Dooku has the overall dueling skill but anakins form too proved to be an powerful counter. And his strength alone could possibly overpower dooku depending on the situation. We must also remember malak was revans right hand man and as a sith he was his apprentice. Being together throughout the mandalorian wars and time as a sith would mean it'd entirely possible revan knows how to counter him.
I always assumed that Sidious used that same "freeze" attack on Saesee Tiin and Agen Kolar in his office and that only Windu and Fisto were able to resist it.

Malak was op but through the force, the sith rule of 2 destined his destructive goals to be thwarted by the ripple in the force known as revan. He was a true villain without a redeemable characteristic. His powers and control are noteworthy but he lacked depth of character causing his entity to never escape the shadows of the dark side
I think Malak was easy to forget because he was a mid-tier personality basic villain. He wasn't incompetent at all, but limited in scope with his 'might-makes-right' and 'just take over things and rule with an iron fist' goals. Solid second in charge material.

Doubt it. If I remember, Malak used the star forge to its maximum outlet but Revan used it in a more consistent outlet. Think of it like a flash light would you constantly have it on when you are not even using it or will you turn it on and off when you need it. Seeing Malak's prize-winning smile brings up a question for me that has bothered me for quite some time now: we know the Star Wars universe is quite big on using cybernetics to repair damaged organic parts. We also know that there are stable and successful ways of cloning people. So what exactly stops the folks in Star Wars from either growing clones for organ transplants (like they did in The Island) or cloning the respective parts directly? Like giving Malak his jaw back, Vader his limbs or Maul his cheeks? Is this somehow especially difficult for Force users and is therefore not used or did Lucas and other authors simply forget about the possibility?

What people forget is that when Revan was captured, Malak was the undeniable Dark Lord of the Sith. Most sith would try to claim that role if the dark lord was defeated; but that role went to Malak because he was the strongest sith after Revan. Revan's true name is unknown, he was called revan because his followers knew him as "The Revanchist" or revan for short. As for Malak, his real name was Alek, upon claiming the title of Darth to hide his true identity he changed his own name to Malak instead not just putting Darth in front of it

well when standing next to revan its not hard to understand why he gets overlooked he is by no means a weak sith lord compared to others he was even stronger then palpatine when he was at the height of his power malaks very thoughts reverberated through the darkside across the galaxy any one in touch with the darkside could feel his thoughts and emotions from across the galaxy.
palpatine like wise was unable to do this at his peak while only able to do this with mara jade specifically while malak could for every darksider. sheer numbers and rule of 2 logic show malak is no mere shlep.
