LG improved a lot in ultrawide camera/night shots comparing to previous models. Between these two, the camera performance is slightly different overall . Considering the fact that the Pixel 5 currently almost doubles the prize to the V60... I'd go for the LG.
Man you got to give it up to LG! They have always been such a underrated phone in the tech world. They have always had a badass camera I mean that in a great way. They can just spend a little bit more time optimizing it they would truly have a killer. After owning a pixel 6 for the past few days I might have to take a look at that new LG or the old LG rather..
Great and very thorough comparison video. I'd like to make a few observations, having owned both the pixel 4 xl (not very different from px5, same sensor etc.) and the v60. Even on full auto in your example I can see the Pixel really oversharpening and forcing contrast to get out those details, which is especially visible on the crop zoom examples, whereas the v60 has more softness, losing a bit of details but retaining imo a much more natural and appealing photographic look. As a photographer used to editing and viewing photos on the big screen I really appreciate that. While it oversaturares greens and blues in Samsung fashion there is also a powerful native Manual Camera app that produces extremely true to life photos and video in terms of color science, defiitely superior to both its auto mode and pixels results. I was very surprised by the almost iphone-like video stabilisation on the pixel 5, where I have to use a gimbal with the v60 to get anywhere near. On the other hand, v60 seems to have done a much better job at keeping zoomed video stabilised for some reason. Again here with the native manual video mode on the v60 one can get much better results out of the box, but overall I'd say pixel offers better hassle free experience with shooting video. However I have to say this is a bit like comparing apples to oranges. To get best results from the v60 you HAVE to use the manual modes, it's the reason they put them there in the first place, and a reason why you would even want to use a larger sensor, and they are actually very well implemented. Night shots for me they traded hits, again the pixel seem a bit too forcefully contrasty and punchy for that instant satisfaction on a small screen. Whereas night video goes to pixel.
Thanks for the detailed thoughts. I agree LG phones are best with manual mode and they're great for that flexibility. My purpose is to share point and shoot results for those who primarily use their phone cameras that way.
@@GrantLikesTech You have compared both Sony Xperia 1 ii and LG V60 against Google Pixel 5. If you were to compare the V60 and 1 ii, which would win the trophy?
Pixel is more consistent when all you want is to whip out your phone and get a great shot or good video. But if you know how to use manual settings (which I don't) the LG can really get excellent pics and video that looks better than anything pixel does on auto.
@@GrantLikesTech Yeah, its the instagram ready pictures that people like. The sky is neon teal vs blue sometimes. Muddy ocean water becomes caribbean water with this trend. Its just too far from what the scene actually was.
The Pixel edged it for sure but if you consider that the Pixel is about 5-10% better in photos (more detailed and better dynamic range), then the LG is the much better phone... because you get the headphones and the sd card slot. Also if you throw in GCAM then the margin is almost gone in photography.
I want color accuracy not looks good! I noticed early on that the Pixel was way too red on your face, but later the LG was too red on some background lights in 4k. I don't think the LG does very well in dark 4k mode.
@@cookinginamo7439 I recommend u to use gcam only for photos... portraits and night sight is way better than original camera Turning on 4K video will crash gcam, use default camera for video recording
My V60 have 4k 60fps HDR10 with the front camera. And i always disable the EIS is to much crop. Try do some test with that conf.or just 4k60fps without EIS
The Pixel 3 kills both cameras with their wide selfie camera. I am very disappointed that a LG V60 does not have a wide angle selfie camera. It's like LG falls short on purpose!
LG v60 has four microphones more than any other smartphone and it's 3 years old 360° multidirectional sound with a setting that will focus just on your voice and kill the wind noise in the background of a video true media monster the v60 blows away the pixel when it comes to audio V has a 32-bit HiFi digital analog converter and an amp tuned by saber dat 3.5 Milly 2 camera updates have made the stills pixel good in the audio and the videos has always been better if you watch when they switch the mic over to the v60 at all it sounds better always.. you can tell which one has less mic's put it that way.....😎
im listening on genelec 8340A. 4k speakers. and i can say the pixel sounds better. lg is to noise reduced and gained. pixel has noise but you wont hear it on a phone speaker
LG V60 for me. Colors are more true to life.
Fair enough

Great detailed comparison Grant! Seems like both perform well in different conditions.

Thanks for the comment! I get that about manual mode. I just don't have the patience for that. "Looks better" is way to subjective.
Definitely agree with that
V60 did pretty well. The colors are too saturated on the LG phones still. Thanks for the in depth comparison Grant.
Thanks Brian, sadly (or not sadly for some) most phone cameras by default have moved in that direction.

No one likes reality these days 😀
yea v60, is like the iphone camera...
The LG has more accurate colors and details in good lighting but it's just too grainy and oversaturated in dark photos and night mode.

The 1st song in the background. Details Please. As a long V series fan, ill wait for the V70 to launch before deciding what to get.

Both phones are OK with cameras but LG is a little bit taking the lead. And the audios on the LG v60 is excellent.

Love my LG v60. It was great during the day but not great at night. It needs light. Because I live in nyc and it does great here in dark areas.
I didn't see the live view in night mode photo. So sad :( Thank you so much for a great battle.
Thank u so much for this comparision!
You're welcome
I feel pixel photo are really nice now, i mean the colours and dynamic range, actually pictures are bright now.. has it come any camera update ?
Not sure, but personally the photos look the same since the Pixel 4 with only slight differences to the 3a.
V60 is more natural and it has more blur in the background(v60 have a bigger sensor)
Damas & Caballeros ❤ el audio LGV60🎉
Make comparison video on lg v60 gcam vs stock... pls its a request.
Can I download the original video and pictures?
finally a video that can help me decide... thanks

Just need to install Gcam on v60 and no chances for others 😂
plz make a vido on LG v60 vs iphone 12 pro max
Will see what I can do. So many phones and comparisons, so little time.
V60 did better than I thought
Me too 😉
LG V60 has superior audio quality even when compared with Samsung S20+.
I prefer pixel 5, because I like taking lots of photos.
Both have decent sensors not sure why video looks so bad on both phones.
🤷🏻♂️
Who is the best camera
I was looking to upgrade my LG for a Pixel but It looks like the Pixel got the colors wrong. LG wins again. Keeping the V60
