      Your text is incorrect; the Bifrost will be broken; no armies will cross it. The Gods will not be victorious, most of them die: but the world will be destroyed. The Einherjar knows that when they go to battle because destiny is fixed, they know they will die and the world end but they face their destiny with honour.

      Surya he is not correct.

    @ralphyboy25 Troll here simply means 'Pagan' or 'magical' with the 'unavoidable' pejorative evolution under Christian influence ('good' Frau Holda -> 'evil' Huldra). In old French 'Fée' means 'magical' and there were fay horses (Bayard), fay swords (no, NOT Stormbringer!) and fay people, 'good' characters in the older texts, progressively turned into malignant or evil ones (Goethe's 'King of Elves') -specially the women, who became lethal temptresses.

    @dodoshere the Garmarna interpretation has on-screen Swedish lyrics and English translation.
    Btw here [the 'Troll Witch' is so beautiful she catches the King's heart -and more :) ] as in 'Herr Mannelig' "Troll' is a pejorative for "Pagan" . Gives an entirely new meaning to what a 'Trollhunter' can be chasing :)

    Just a thought; perhaps it's used to imitate the sound of "traditional " throat singing ~ a nice addition I think . . . .

    @D3Nord Certainly among the best music ever produced - buying 'Ranarop' and 'Sjofin' albums has been one of the best investments I have done in my entire life, they seem to have an infinite relistening value.

    @D3Nord Yes, I have to whole heartedly agree with EneriGiilaan. Ranarop and Sjofin are definitely one of my best investments as well.
    You will not be disappointed.

    I like folk music in general...
    it is true to say that scandinavian folk music is very pretty. but look into e.g. our Czech folk music...
    Čechomor, Pavlica, and more ... but true is that czech folk music also at a certain point merge with what we call simply country music... it is literarly pronounced with HARD "K" Kaántry
    well you know. life isn´t simple hihihi
    here is a sample:

    @ralphyboy25 Hah - had to check huldra/skogsrå.
    Only now I understand what tradition is behind the Hedningarna's "Räven" (Fox Woman) song. Thanks.

  • @ralphyboy25
    @ralphyboy25 12 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    @LouysofMC Ah, merci beaucoup. It is always interesting to learn the roots and evolution of words based in folklore. It definitely provides for a better appreciation of the original author's (whoever that may be) intent.
    And yes, I can see how a Trollhunter may need a different complement of tools, than what is portrayed in the movies, for his endeavors. :)

    I don't believe Gjallarhorn ever claimed to be a 'traditional' band. But it does add a great touch to much of their works.

    Does anyone know where the Original tekst comes from? And is there an Original melody as well on which Gjallarhorn based their beautiful arrangement? Or is the melody all their own work?

    FANTASTIC Arrangement, Production & Artistic approach;
    Voice impecable, enchanting, yet authentic medieval nordic singing!
    This i the way to do it;
    one of the best World/Ethno/Medieval/New Age, whatever....albums.
    Too bad, some other, much less qualified bands took over the GJALLARHORN positions on charts and stage. I wush too hear and see more of them, and more often.
    Do they stil exist as Ensemble ?

    @EneriGiilaan So you see... us outlanders can teach you 'local boys' a few things every once in a while. ;-)
    Actually, I think that being from outside the culture, there may be a tendency to want to research songs perhaps more thoroughly than a 'native'. When I first heard Räven, I needed to find out exactly why this woman had a tail and sharp teeth. I figured there must be a 'fairy' 'tail' behind it all. Cheers my friend !

    It was not too clearly stated, but I actually guess that she was trying to refer to the dialect(s) of Swedish as they are spoken by the Swedish speaking minority population in Finland - and not to indicate that the main language of Finland would be Finnish.
