This song transports me to a place I never thought imaginable. A place of honest peace. Sunny days. Blue skies. Away from the world's problems, from politics, from conflict and chaos. Perfect for a sunny summer walk. But just like the song, peace never lasts. Must always be prepared for whats next
Well our cat is a fan. He dedicates an ear to hear this song even while bird watching. When it stopped, he gave us a certain "play it again" look and immediately returned to smiling when I did.
I like many aspects of this group's songs. But to be specific on one element, there is the constant changes that occur in their songs. That is refreshing.
This music deeply connects me to my roots and makes me want to write music in my dying native low Saxon "Twents" language. It has so much in common with Norse Swedish and Danish, I can understand and translate a lot of this into Twents having it sound so similar to what she's singing. Soundwise and wordwise these languages have so much in common. It would be so awesome if people would want to connect to blow new life into our old language and traditions like so many Scandinavian artists do. How awesome would it be to write a song in multiple germanic languages that are all connected to each other and have the listeners barely noticing the shift of the language in the song.
Gjallarhorn brought a little light, wonder and humor into a period of obscurity and weariness in my life. Listening to it many years later, my sensitivity and admiration I felt for it grew. A difficult listening at first, he lends the orchestral direction of his flayed intelligence, until he draws you inevitably into his universe. Each listening reveals a little more of its mystery, its magic, so this work becomes ineluctably timeless “Imperial”
Yes. It happened somewhat the same to me too. I mean, we all have different paths but as I like to remind myself, folks brightened my life, their music does! Folk music it's like raw energy.
i am soooo in love with her songs and this one is the best one i always like songs from different cultures or countries. i just can't describe that this song is sooooo lovely. regards from pakistan
The stringed instrument played in this song reminds me of some middle eastern music. According to my beliefs, we are all connected. All life. No matter how different we all may appear to be, we are all human. Peace and love to you both from Canada.
@@arjantjeee Well Turkish music isn't middle eastern,it's Asian. And this sounds more Turkic-Shamanic.Check out Altai Kai if you wanna hear Turkic music.
Does anybody know if the germanic folk song that somone has up on TH-cam with this cover for the vid, called *När som jag var på mitt adertonde år * "As I was in my Eighteenth Year" is by Gjallarhorn or not?..- I think it isn't but not 100% on that lol because it sounds like something they would do
C W hi, that song is not from Gjällarhorn, but from a singer called Elina. She's Swedish, I believe, and rather good, and the song is traditional, while Gjällarhorn are Finnish. Hope that is enough 😊
@@annalisalundberg4561 is correct. Though sadly elina stopped making videos for TH-cam after she went through a hard time. After her loss she made a few 60's covers but started posting less and less... I'm so sad because I'm a huge fan of her voice. I hope she is well. You should visit her channel though. Her songs are still online.
@UDIEIGIGGLE I would be happy if my local radio stations would play anything from Gjallarhorn, even just once a week. Not going to happen, unfortunately. So I will have to stick to listening to my iPod.
@@AYan-oy6hb This song is indeed by Gjallarhorn and from the album Ranarop as stated in the text above. What a beautiful song! Greetings from Turkey
You can truly hear how traditional scandinavian and middle eastern music are so much alike in this tune.

You should check out Hedningarna, specifically their songs vargtimmen and veli.
It is indeed a very nice song and beautiful presentation, but it not by Gjallarhorn.
It is done by the uploader Elina Järventaus Johansson herself.
It's in the album.
