    I just cme back from lower sarnac lake and was told the same thing about walleye and laugh to myself because had already watched this video! Lol!
    I just want to say thanks! Your video inspired and motivated me to plan this trip with my older son and a good friend!!! We had an awesome trip and the Adirondack's are beautiful!!
    Keep them videos coming.
    FYI did alot of paddling and not a ton of fishing but manage a few perch and some kind of fish that that had a cross hatch pattern which i never caught before.next trip iam just fishing!!

      Awesome. We love hearing that our videos help others with their trips. Did you get a pic of that fish? Was it a crappie? Let us know if we can help in the future. Thanks for watching.

      @@ADKAddicts it was not a crappie almost looked like a carp and a bit like a suckered fish . No picture but it hit hard!

      I just looked on id chart it was a fall fish . Is that in the carp or shad family?

    • @ADKAddicts
      @ADKAddicts  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That was my next guess when you said it looked like a carp. We’ve caught tons up there. I think they are big minnows like shad. They fight hard. I fought a big one on the video with the small brown hot tent and wood stove in the thumbnail. Good pike bait!

    Good to see a few walleye survived. We camped on the lake for thirty years, and a ranger told us in the early 90's that it had been stocked, but figured the pike got them all, as nobody ever seemed to catch any. I'd love to be there in the off season like you were. Great video!

    • @ADKAddicts
      @ADKAddicts  ปีที่แล้ว

      First walleye I’ve ever seen on there. The off-season is great if you don’t mind the cold, wet and wind. It’s a special place without all the motor boats. Thanks for watching.

    You are one of the lucky few. Those have to be holdovers, maybe an f2 or f3 from the original. (Just speculating).
    Ive been fishing that lake here and there for 15 years and only seen photos of eyes from lower

    Another excellent video guys. 2 thumbs up to Logan for starting the boys out, I made my first trip to Rollins Pond campground at 6months old.I'll be 69 this year and am still an avid fisherman and hunter, in fact i'm leaving tomorrow morning for a week of fishing at Allegany State Park for mostly native brookies. I'll be waiting anxiously until your guys next video.

      Yeah it sucks, it would cost me about $200 just for gas there and back. I live south of Rochester. I can make to Allegany and back on 1 tank. Plus luckily there's lots of good fishing around this area.

    My family goes to Lower Saranac every summer, and my cousin went up there dead set on catching a walleye. Asked the rangers at the state bridge if they had any Walleye tips, they said there weren't any walleye in the lake. Thanks for disproving them!

    • @ADKAddicts
      @ADKAddicts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well I wouldn’t go target them there. I’ve fished it a lot over the last several years and it’s the only one I’ve caught, seen caught it even heard of being caught. Lucky for me it was a tank. Thanks for watching.

    So that was the weekend before us. We see guys night fishing all the time for them at the mouth of the river up to middle. we never caught any ourselves, but we are always drinking bye then lol. That cove you were in is a pike cove for sure . we caught 1 to the right of the river Thursday night of our week and guys where fishing at the entrance of the river .
    Do you know where the caretakes cabin is ? bunch of big rocks and there is a cove by the road that's another good spot .
    I would love to fish with you guys on my boat up there on a Friday to Saturday trip if your up for it .
    can't get enough of Saranac lake lol

      We kinda thought those night fishermen were after bullhead. Guess I have to start targeting them more. Maybe we can get together some time in the off-season for some fishing.

    That Walleye was HUGE. Awesome catch man. I'd really like to see your fishing setup. I see the transducer mount behind your seat and I'm curious what you decided to go with for the rest of the setup.

    • @ADKAddicts
      @ADKAddicts  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. I run a Garmin Striker 4 plus CV. That’s mounted to an insulated case from Harbor Freight with a 15 ah lithium battery inside. I use the same set up in the canoe and on the ice. Works great.

    • @AbundantAdventures
      @AbundantAdventures ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ADKAddicts Sounds like a good setup. Do you take that setup when you are portaging through different areas? Does your setup have maps? I'm used to my pro angler kayak setup and will be getting into the canoe setup this winter so i can try it out this spring. I'm hoping to figure out a halfway decent setup for canoe tripping. Just need to make sure its simple enough to pack up to portage.

    • @ADKAddicts
      @ADKAddicts  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AbundantAdventures it doesn’t have preset maps but it creates its own if you want as you paddle. For double the money they make a unit with maps. I find that it’s not really necessary in a man powered boat because I can’t cover that much water anyway. Having a depth chart to choose where to fish and sonar with down imaging works fine. For the ice I use the Hummingbird fish smart AP on my phone for my home lake. I don’t take it on light weight or long trips. But I’m f I’m base camping or only one or two small ports I bring it. Or if we can wheel. That’s why we use wheels sometimes instead of yokes so we can bring stuff like this and a cooler and still single carry. If you need any help when you set it up let me know.

    • @AbundantAdventures
      @AbundantAdventures ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ADKAddicts Thanks. That's real helpful to gauge. If you look at my channel, I can go pretty ultra light when backpacking so my gear can be plenty light. My goal is to figure out a canoe, and pack load out that lets me single carry with minimal fishing gear. I figure if I stay under 10 lbs total for all my fishing gear i should be able to single carry the smaller portages in the ADK. Next summer will be the AA crews first attempt at canoe tripping :)

    • @ADKAddicts
      @ADKAddicts  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AbundantAdventures when I go light weight, and to me that means single carry everything with my boat yoked, I run 2 poles net and a small tackle box in my chest pack. The key for me is my 70L MEC Slogg HD dry pack. I’ve been through many packs till I found this one and I’ll never go back.
