    Another great video John, definitely watch out for them hooks bro.I had a little 6in. bass drive a hook from a 4in. Rapala to the bone 1time and it wasn't fun, luckily I was at a local lake and not some place a day or two paddle out. It isn't fun paddling for even 10 minutes with a lure hanging from your finger, Lol. I will be waiting patiently for the next upload from you and or Logan and Jay.

      Thanks Michael. Taking a hook is always a fear on a canoe trip. Especially with a big pike in the net and a lure with 3 trebles on it. We appreciate you. Have a good one.

      I always carry a pair of wire cutting pliers in my tackle bag now that way you can at least cut the split ring or the hoop on the lure so you don't have all those extra hooks hanging off you. You guys keep up the great videos.

    That Pike was a beauty! I can't wait to see what this place looks like and fishes like in the fall. You did pretty great here for an overnight though, that is for sure! I know I say it every time, but can't wait to hit the water again with you guys soon!

    Using a knife that you made yourself has got to be a good feeling.

      Any time you learn a new skill, even something as simple as a new knot, it’s rewarding…but successfully making a knife and using it on a canoe trip is a great feeling. Thank you for the comment and for watching.

    What lake was this? Looks so familiar!

      I believe that was Nelson Lake.

    I troll everything and I'm not a big hook setter. I have always believed that if the fish hits hard it usually sets the hook itself.

    • @ADKAddicts
      @ADKAddicts  ปีที่แล้ว

      I generally agree with you on anything running beneath the surface,but top water is a little tricky. Much like a bunker shot in golf where you hit the sand not the ball, the water explosion will initially launch the lure out of the water not the fish itself so when retrieving a top water bait you have to give it a second before setting the hook. When trolling you can’t so when the fish comes straight up and out of the water you sometimes pull the top water bait away from him. If he’s following from behind close to the surface and takes it you’ll get him almost every time. But it’s a good indicator of where the fish are so even loosing is ok cause you hear it and fish that area.

      I will say that I don’t miss many bass trolling the top water mostly pike. Probably the hard boney mouth I guess.

    I really enjoy your content. Iam going to lower saranac lake in Sept .would you know paddle time from drop in from rt3 to Martin island?

    • @ADKAddicts
      @ADKAddicts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you very much. I’d say you’re paddle will be about 30-40 minutes of the weather is good. Little longer with a head wind. Good luck and have fun.

      I will check it out. I want to pack light when it comes to fishing gear do you think spinners and jigs are the way to go?

    • @ADKAddicts
      @ADKAddicts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@toddstoffel6711 the nice thing about that place is you don’t have to pack light. There’s no portaging. But late summer through fall I’m pretty much only using crank baits. Spinners and top water in the spring. But fish will bite anything. Good luck. You’re in a good spot for fishing though. That end of the lake is where they are. Troll deep diving crank baits around the islands. Try out front of site #30.
