Great video!😊
Thank you and thanks for watching.
@ADKAddicts You are welcome 😊
I got my dates for the cabin on the water in Newcomb this year. If you are around Aug 9-15, I’ll buy you all a Park burger and milkshake. My wife and I will be paddling Boreas Ponds for the first time.
You probably won’t see either of us up there too much in July and August. That’s a little hot for us; we like the cooler and even cold temperatures. I appreciate the offer and if something changes and one of us are up there during that time we’ll let you know. Have a great time.
It’s always uphill because you are in the mountains and you start a portage at the water level.
That is usually the case for sure. We’ve also walked down from some pretty elevated ponds a few times.
Enjoyed this. Like the extra camping and portaging…l
Thanks…that fog was crazy. I’ll never forget it gave me motion sickness.
@ I have been going through the Videos. Can’t wait for my August trip. Park burger in Long Lake and Friday/ Thursday long like lobster rolls.
Park burger and seasoned fries or the tots are so good. Going to try that lobster roll this year if I can.
Cool compilation.
Thank you, that was a long time ago.
Enjoyed the pike from two cameras! Hey, if you eat gamy meat….add mustard power.
Thanks. First big pike I’ve caught on a trout fishing trip lol.
Really, really loved this video. Good mixture of fishing, camping, and portaging….
Thank you. That a was fun trip and that first day was tough one. We brought way too much gear for that trip.
ANYONE ever been to long pond in adk me and a few buddys plan on goin up there for 5 days just wanna know what kind of fish a re there ?
Somehow this comment to pop up for me. Long Pond in the St Regis Canoe Area has bass and panfish in it. I did see a video once where a guy caught a really nice Brooke trout but they are not supposed to be in there I believe. Good luck.
@ okay do u know if we should do a surrounding pond to fish idk we’re aiming after pike becuase we haven’t caught one yet but we have 5 days to fish and hike so maybe we should pond hop every night
Can’t wait to get up to Boreas pond in mid August. Takes me 4.5hrs from NJ.
Boreas Ponds is on our list for next season as well. We’ve tried twice but were too early on the season both times. Thanks for watching.
You guys rock! So a few friends and I do a annual kayak camp and pike trip in Piercefield, its an amazing spot and we catch a good amount of fish, its very secluded and we camp on a small island. Now after watching your adventures, could you recommend a spot that my friends couldn't say no to that would be even better than our spot. (more details on our spot we take a small stream in , cross over two beaver damns and into the river, we go for 3 nights and in October, we have seen people out there i think twice in 5 years) The place is amazing and very sentimental to one friend that has been going there for 10+ years so he will be the hard sell! Thanks for the help and thanks for the videos, I thoroughly enjoy them!
Thank you. As for a spot if you have a secluded gem thats not well known and sentimental it’s hard to go elsewhere. The trip I always suggest to people to is To take 2 cars and go Long Lake to Floodwood Pond and do a long traveling trip. It’s amazing to travel on all those different bodies of water. Big lakes, rivers and ponds. Leantos almost the whole way and fishing pike, Bass and trout. St Regis Caboe area is beautiful as well. Good luck and have fun and let us know if we can help in any other ways.
What an adventure! I know the feeling losing a nice rod. I had one fall off my canoe years ago and I felt sick. Tried to retrieve it but it was gone. Thanks for sharing! BTW, the time lapse of the moon was amazing!
We loved the way that time lapse came out thank you Bill.
Are you in cellphone range there or do you carry an Inreach?
Most of the places in St Regis have service probably because of Paul smiths being so close. You do get some spotty places though.
I haven't had a boat get away from me yet.........on camera LOL. Nice video dude.
That’s number 3 for me man and once was a solo trip in 45 degrees I had to swim for it lol. Thanks for watching.
no better way to enjoy late season!!! great job guys
We love the hot tent when it gets cold. Thank you and thanks for watching.
i think you gave new meaning to the term ' breakfast in bed ' bob evans and dennys should seek you all out for some cooking lessons. some beautiful fish were also caught and released for others to catch also , great job. one of your best videos so far. keep it up . bill😊
We like to eat good out there. Thank you for the kind words Bill.
I know I have said it before but you guys sure eat good on your trips!!! Also, what tent do you have? Would you recommend it? Stay safe out there!!
Anytime we can bring a cooler and eat good we do. Makes the trip better and worth the carry. The tent is a Robens Klondike bell tent and we absolutely recommend it but not sure you can get it anymore here in the states. We had it shipped here from the UK but they don’t do international shipping anymore. There is a company here called White Duck Outdoors that has similar bell tents but they look even better, have more options and are cheaper. Thanks for watching.
I've been enjoying your channel! Thank you! Where do you launch your kayaks and park your cars when you camp on long lake?? I actually did the 90 miler this year. Had a nice wind at our back going down the lake. But very wet and cold by the end of the day.
We always park at the state boat launch in town. There is an overflow parking lot for multi night trippers right off the road just before you get to the parking lot on the right. Thank you for watching.
Do you guys know the 5 gallon bucket paint roller grid hack for cooking on the Buddy Heater? The Bigfoot Bushcraft fire plugs are awesome 10/10! I’ve been using them since they first came out…and I’m not a famous TH-cam star so, I’ve paid for all of mine 😂
No, we’d like to though.
@@ADKAddicts You just put the hooks on the roller grid under the buddy heater handle so it sticks out over the heating element and tweak it until it’s level. It gets hot enough so you can boil water and cook on it
Excellent trip fella's,minus losing the rod. I was really hoping you caught that plug wrapped around your paddle John, heart sank when you started paddeling. Fall is awesome, cool temps & NO BUGS !
My heart sank too Randall when I watched the footage back. Unfortunately not the first time I’ve done that. I did it in the spring in the Raquette River as well but I was able to retrieve it. Some people never learn. Thanks for watching Randall.
We had a 12ft. Aluminum boat and a kayak blow away while they were on shore there. That night there were dangerous winds. Also the ice blew out that night off the whole lake.
It can get crazy. Especially up on Middle Saranac.
It was nice meeting you guys! Happy fishing!! Sorry about the pole.
Very nice meeting you as well. Thank you for watching and commenting. We appreciate you.
Great video. Looked like a great time.
We had a great trip for sure. Thank you for taking the time to watch it.
Well John guess losing a rod and reel is better than your canoe. Logan you look like you might have some professional cooking skills, after being a cook for 30yrs I spot skills. Another great video like usual guys.
Loosing a rod and reel is way better than the boat for sure. Thanks for watching Michael.
Whats not to love about our Adirondacks. We definitely live in or around the best part of NY state.
The Adirondacks are beautiful. We still want to visit the boundary waters and some places in Canada but the ADK will always be home for us. Thanks for watching.
Wow so much in that video! Sucks about the rod but you guys have upped your editing game! Great video! 🤘
We’re getting there still lots to improve and we’ll keep getting better. Thanks for watching Paul.
That really sucks about your glasses! I'm so nearsighted, I'd be lost without mine. I wear contacts, always carrying a spare pair plus least 1 set of glasses.
I had lost my spare pair on St. Regis Pond the same way lol. The ride home was rough. Thanks for watching.
I know the stove you use, what griddle top is it? They seem to work perfect together!
I believe it’s the Nordic ware non stick griddle on Amazon. It’s ok. It’s aluminum so it’s warps a little and you have to pull the stove in a little for a perfect fit but it works. A cast iron or cold steel would be better but cold steel is expensive and cast is heavy. Thanks for watching.
such good food and Site! where ya pack it all in!!! Thanks for the Content....
That’s the nice part of base camping sometimes. Great meals. Thanks for watching.
really nice video ! looks like you had great weather and caught some fantastic fish . enjoy the rest of fall. bill
Thanks Bill. We still have a few more before winter.
Great video. Hope you didn't get sick.
Not too bad once I got home. Thanks for watching.
I'm glad i could help you out.
We appreciated it so much thanks again Dan.
Glad that wood was still there for ya! Until next season! Peace ✌️
See ya sooner hopefully. Get your deer now.
Great video. What a fall we have had.
Thank you Tom. It’s been a great fall. Thanks for watching again.
At 27:00 you mention a possibility of a bear” crashing and being loud “ coming towards camp. Bear are very quiet, there not clumsy and loud. You know what it was......
Yes…Sasquatch. Thanks for watching.
@@ADKAddicts You betcha !
Another great video guys, and from 1 veteran to another thank you Logan and Tony for your service. It was also great to see you out there Logan hopefully you'll be able to get a few trips in this fall. I have been out since August myself, been busy catching up on tree work now that we're finally been getting some dry weather.
Thank you as always Michael.
Wonder out loud if this is a stocked lake with those amounts of tiny bass. Means within a year it will be crazy. Enjoying going back through your videos.
Not sure but we didn’t fish it very hard. I’m sure there are bigger bass in there and some tiger musky too. We’ll hit it again some time in the future. Thanks again.
Fav fish? The one on the end of my line…lol. Pierogi and sausage. Bringing out the Slovak in me. Hey, what were these lakes/ponds? I have not yet fished for trout only bass in the ADK. Love your content. Keep it up. Been binging on them! Those burgers are the absolute best! And like I mentioned….lobster roll Friday at Long Lake ADK trading post. If you call her, she might make it for you other days. Best ever.
I saw the ADK Trading Post now we just have to get there on a Friday. We’re looking forward to trying them out. If you want to send me a private message on Instagram I can put you on to some good trout fishing spots. Thanks for all the views and comments we appreciate it.
@@ADKAddicts sorry. Not on those platforms.
@@fathertomoutdoors6579 no worries. Try camping and fishing the upper ponds in the St Regis Canoe Area like St Regis Pond, Fish Pond and all the smaller ponds around those 2. Horseshoe Pond in the Saranac Lake Wild Forrest Area is another good one and easily accessible right off Follensby Clear Pond. Boreas Ponds is also a good place and one we want to get to soon. If you want to get into some good rainbows try 8th lake.
@@ADKAddicts Boreas? That’s near the place I rent each year in Newcomb.
@@fathertomoutdoors6579 yep
I know this will sound gross, but 20degF hot tent, for the heck of it I threw in the stove a Duraflame. Waiting for it to catch and turned the vent down to almost nothing. Didn’t have to get up all night. Kept us warm.
That’s interesting we might give that a try. Did it burn pretty clean?
@@ADKAddicts very clean. Just the smell is chemical.
Forgot to ask in other video…do you sell the knives you make?
Not currently. Maybe in the future. We don’t spend enough time in the shop to create knives worth selling. Maybe someday. This winter we’re going to make 3 or 4 each.
@@ADKAddicts oh, Let me know! They were looking great.
We will and thank you. They take a lot of time and work to make but it’s fun and rewarding.
Did ya ever eat small mouth bass.? My buddy says they are as good as trout.
We have eaten smallies a couple of times. I wouldn’t compare them to trout. More like a whiter fish like walleye or panfish. Definitely not as good as any of those in my opinion. I wouldn’t eat them again.
Did you guys ever swing by Olmstedville to visit where they make Hornbeck canoes? About 40 min SE of Long Lake. Hey, what kind of cooler do you have that keeps food that long?
Haven’t been to Hornbeck. Gonna go to Placid soon hopefully though. Our cooler is a Yeti Hopper 30. Works great. Backed over it with my car and didn’t damage it at all.
Great trip. Thanks for sharing
Thank you for watching.
My son did his stent in the service. Using his GI bill for college. The food you guys eat. Incredible. But I think i would have to stop a bunch, if ya know what I mean.
Make sure you thank your son for us.
The park ranger is a nice guy. Use to volunteer in Romania. I am sitting here going through older videos of yours while wearing my Newcomb NY shirt. I fish Rich lake and Harris Lake. About 20:min from there.
That’s awesome. We haven’t fished those lakes.
Love your videos, thanks so much! We were there in May with Jay & Stephanie and hooked into a few rainbows and a landlocked. Can you tell me what fly John was using? Thanks!
Thank you so much. I think I might have been there on a solo trip while you guys were there. I order my streamers from the Big Y Fly Company and I dont remember the name of the one that was working for us but the one they have right now that most closely resembles it is the Whitlock Sculpin. It got us a lot of bites and all the big ones. Thanks for watching.
@@ADKAddicts Thanks for the tip!
Another great video and I was glad to see Logan out again! There are still some nice brook trout in that water but I've caught more rainbows later in the summer and early fall. One of my favorite sounds are the loons calling and it makes me smile every time I hear them. I'm looking forward to the next video!
Thanks Bill. We appreciate you watching and commenting.
Great video again. Haven't been trout fishing in a couple of years and its about time i go.
Thank you and you definitely should. Thanks for watching.
Well....i'm not sure if i brought you luck John but sure have been curious as to what you hooked into right after your reply...sweet Rainbow! Logan bagged a dandy on the trip as well. I remember that week well, even though it was a little warm for trout it sure was calm & peaceful. As always the food made my mouth water, great trip fella's...cheers to tight lines & great weather. 🎣
It was a great week thanks for the catch Randall and thanks for watching as always.
Just beautiful guys. Nice trip!
Thank you so much.
Love your content. I have been lucky enough to camp and fish in the Adirondacks 3 times this season. Beautiful place.
The Adirondacks is one of the best places in this country for sure. Thank you for your comment and for watching, we appreciate it.
