I first came across this aircraft in the early 80s, I was in the RAF at the time. They are so capable that they can do half circuits. I have quite a few fond memories of working on them. A must gave for my MSFS hanger.

Thank you for the quick flight! The jet really is a joy to fly with the FBW system and automatic flaps. Regarding the systems, I have not read the manual yet, but it seems like there is a bit more depth than I first thought. I only had time for a quick circuit similar to yours last night, but I think I will spend quite a few more hours with this plane.
Oh, and I really loved Iron Eagle back in the 80s as a kid ;)
Spot-on landing, and you found everything as well! Glad you're enjoying the Falcons. Those CFT tanks at start-up is due to Asobo introducing an entirely new fuel tank system with SU7, so we cannot control which tanks are visible at start-up. Once we master the new layout, we will issue an update so that all but the I model start flights without the CFTs. Flaps and slats on this one are entirely controlled by the Fly By Wire so you don't need to activate them, they respond based on airspeed, AoA and so on. Big updates next year for all SC / DC Designs jets, thanks for taking the time to review the F-16s! :)
Hey! Loving your work in MSFS! Is the F16 carrier compatible? I have asked Touchingcloud for an insight on how to enable the tailhook arrest system on any aircraft, and it seems quite straight to the point. Maybe if you guys haven't implemented it yet, I can pass on the info on how to quickly add it. It would add a lot of value to your aircrafts :) Thanks!

@@blackfalco33 I can add that to the list, yes - the system for doing so isn't very reliable at the moment but will hopefully create something of my own soon in future updates for all the aircraft.

Iron Eagle vibes. I love it!!!! I know the movie wasn't all that great when compared to that movie starting some Tom guy (hehehe) but I still prefer it over that one.
Darn good landing there. My last F-16 experience was in Falcon 4 and I would have been proud of a landing like yours.

Nice video. My only critique is that I would've like to have seen some external views while flying. It would have been nice to see the gear retraction so we could see the gear and door movement. You always do a very good job of reviews. More external flying shots is what I crave. Thanks again.

I had forgotten how good the view out the cockpit was compared to other fighters, that will definitely help influence my decision which one to buy next. And I never watched Iron Eagle as a kid, but I did play a lot of Falcon 3.0, and that also had a great soundtrack which I was imagining in my head while watching this.
I just downloaded this aircraft. Nicely made and lots of features. Trying to figure out the autopilot and some radio functions, but that will come in time.
Took you almost as long to locate the fuel switch as it did me. Hee hee.
All good though. It appears to be not labeled in the hints, though there is writing on it. (It's also on the wrong sub panel).

Fuel switch is like hidden when name name does show sometimes like the switches under the throttle, you really have to look at it at different angle in VR before your can reach some ;-)
It's finally here?...Now I wait for the Top Gun DLC, and I'll have all my favorites.
Hey, im wondering, do you get some stuttering in the f16? Noticeble especially when rolling the plane ? I'm having this issue, and its happening only on the f16. I figured out it was the screens system, FLIR, that was causing it, as turning them off got rid of the stutters. Only happens on this plane tho, im clueless.

Regarding your unusually scant observations as to the visual quality of this F -16.
We're assured by DC Designs that everyone has their personal 'expectations' regarding acceptable Graphical Representation in MSFS 2020.
This F 16 might well be regarded as Acceptable by those people Marketing this F-16 as well as their Customers who are eager to purchase this iconic Jet in it's present state.
Lot's of assurances of future incoming improvements by DC Designs will surely encourage those of us who may well be looking forward to a more than Acceptable representation of this Aircraft.
I think I was a little tired and distracted... the cockpit I quite liked, exterior I think I mentioned looked a little simple.. which it did. Not as good as it could be... Maybe I'm losing my touch? I try to be too kind at times.
Even Angels need to sleep.
Interesting take ok the F16. Definitely prefer the one in DCS but that's a dedicated combat simulator and this isn't. Still a nice job on the jet. If I pic up msfs again I may get it just to play with.

I think knowing how to startup and operate some of those jets in DCS has spoiled me in a sense. There's always a slew of things missing or changed in the MSFS modules that immediately stick out to me. At the same time, I have no doubt a healthy amount of MSFS users would immediately be offput by a study-level F-16 or A-10. (If some of the Steam reviews left by new players trying DCS are any indication, heh.)
That said, I'd still love nothing more than for Eagle Dynamics to put some of their aircraft into MSFS with the same level of detail and functionality as in DCS. (Preferably with the same flight model as well.) It'd be really amazing to be able to fly around somewhere other than the same handful of limited-sized locations.
@@Great-Documentaries Some maybe, but I have the CRJ 500/700 and 900/1000 from Aerosoft. (To my knowledge, the only aircraft in MSFS that is study level that isn't a fairly simple single engine GA plane.) Learning the more complicated systems and having a working knowledge of how to get them from point A to point B is a large chunk of the enjoyment and satisfaction.
What I was trying to get at was the people out there who want the study-level aircraft are somewhat niche and don't make up the majority of the population, and that most people are off-put by the idea once they see what's actually involved. Having to spend several tens of hours of learning and referencing a manual (rather than just being shown in a 10 minute tutorial) isn't something that appeals to everyone, but there is a certain crowd that wants that experience.
@@KennyTheB The odd thing is that there should be absolutely no problem to translate DCS' EFM into MFS' SimConnect interface. Most likely one could write a library to hook onto the EFM ones function calls and forward the calls into SimConnect. Well, the coordinate systems are definitely different and so are parameters like the environmental settings, but I'm quite positive translation routines could be written for all of that too.
Fr I was like "wow only had to click 1 button for engine start" it would be sick to have a dcs level of detail model in this game so we can fly around the locations of this game but with the same experience as dcs

so question? is it just me or does it say the F16 is mach 2+ but mine on the sim only goes like 750 max as matter of fact i feel like all my jets are slower than they say they are supposed to be

If you accept a suggestion, I recommend you try the Just Flight - Hawk T1 / A Advanced Trainer, I think it is one of the best Jet that has come out so far

I absolutely love it. Always loved aircraft but very new to msfs so I went with the Hawk as I felt it would be a good beginner plane. I’ve only being playing a week or so and have all the assists off (apart from airport approach until I learn navigation). I’m already using all the instruments. I feel like a proper pilot 🤣🤣 also I live done the road from the Red Arrows so that makes it even better

Can anyone tell me why the F16 models on the xbox version of MSFS has those odd additions onto the fuselage? Was totally stoked to see they added the F-16, the best looking fighter imo, but they put that odd addition onto the fuselage.
It’s a saddle fuel tank, it’s a feature in some models, empty those tanks and they vanish

I was wondering why the humps on the top because it looks bad with it. It kills the original style of the F-16 I love but thank god they have the other versions too. Fantastic landing!

And immediately after admitting you're not a fighter jet person you perform an exquisite landing. brava.
I noted you said you turned on the head tracking device. After watching the video of your first experience with that a couple of weeks ago I thought it was great, and I immediately started to think about getting one, but a thought occurred to me of a potential weirdness associated with it.
From the viewers perspective watching your video it looks absolutely brilliant, but I wonder what it's like for the wearer. ie you.
For instance, if you turn your head say 90 degrees to the left, and your monitor is obviously still where it sits, physically in front of you, do you have to strain to look out the right side of your eyes to see the monitor?

It moves bigger angles than your head moves... so 20 degrees for me is 90, you get used to it, smaller movements, still see the screen but visibility unhurt.

Fun to fly. But in external views the jet's control surfaces go opposite direction of what there supposed to. The HUD cant be seen against the backround alot of times, and the MFD controls are somewhat wonky. Still super fun. Hope they patch it.

Flight sim is a cpu thing. Never been a console thing. Console will never be able to support a fraction of the quantity required to meet cpu standards. Recommend investing a couple of grand into a decent desktop. Amongst cpu flight simmers this dc designs is considered garbage compared to just flight or milviz.

@@brandongriffin938 your loss. Some of the most accurate study level aircraft ever produced are on the market now. PMDG and sim skunk works have taken things up a notch concerning realism. The last msfsx ran for over two decades. In console terms it’s supersedes the life of gta 5. MSFS 2020 will undoubtedly do the same. If your a true flight enthusiast buy a pc. It will also smack traditional console games. Gtx 970 and up with an i7 processor is like minimum high spec. 3000 series nvidia cards with i7 and solid state drives will give you the max. Instead of buying a new console every 5 you just update your cpu every 10-15 years. Better graphics better performance better games.
Everybody can’t afford to spend thousands of dollars into a PC just to enjoy certain aircraft although the facts concerning PC being better than consoles may be obviously true.
I believe content creators and developers responsible for releasing these aircraft need to get it together. It’s 2022 and we are on a whole new generation of consoles so there’s no excuse for Xbox not having access to any planes that PC have access too. Its completely unfair to console players and it’s a trash business move because they will obviously make a lot more money when those aircraft come to Xbox as well💯💯
@@dontrealjackson6887 it’s physically impossible to put some content on console. A lot of the cpu programs that are used to run complex planes are not supported on a console. Ex the working radar in the sim skunk works tf-104. All a console is (is a severely restricted small computer) you need a real pc. 2,000$ investment will change your life. I just bought a 3060ti… flight sim max ultra 4K. It’s not even the same sim at that point compared to what your x box displays. X box flight sim. This is Microsoft’s way of ripping you off with a third of the flight sim. It was a marketing move and you fell for it…. Now buy a pc. It’s ok man. I was you like two decades ago as kid trying to play msfsx with the xbox controler for windows. Off a gaming laptop. ( desktop is the way ) Now I got the entire thrust master airbus setup. You can’t afford a pc…. ? Go get paid. When you finally get a decent set up one day you’ll be thanking me that I kept it real with you. Top of the line Graphics card and processor and run the sim off of a large solid state. Complete difference night and day from an xbox. Maybe not now but some day you’ll get there.

@@AvAngel No not quite right. This hasn't been sent to MS yet so it'll be a while. Second update for it was released yesterday so SC Designs will probably aim to submit early Jan. Then it's down to how long MS take to get back on changes/issues etc. Xbox stuff isn't simple at the moment so there's really no telling when it'll be available on X-Box. Guessing but I'd say February absolutely earliest but realistically you could be looking at March onwards in truth. Sorry to dispel current hopes but wanted to offer some facts there.
Claims novice fighter jet pilot then proceeds to butter the bread on the landing. I'd have spiked that into the tarmac like a lawn dart, lol.
Pure beginners luck... and head tracking helps depth perception... I would put money on me not repeating that.

How is that possible, if the flight model and aircraft switches are not accurate then how can they give me that experience?
First of all, I also grew up watching "Iron Eagle". Like you, I have a soft spot in my heart for the F-16. With that said, I agree with the other commenters that your landing was absolutely perfect! Completely greased it.
The only comment I would make is that these "top speeds" are definitely set at a MUCH higher altitude (like 30,000' or higher). There are very few planes that can go much above Mach 1 at less than 10,000'. For that, you need the MIG-29, or SR-71, or more modern fighters like the F-22 or F-35. Either way, the F-16 is like a fun sports car.
F16 to mach 10 msfs20 :
I don't know if this is realistic or a bug but in the back left of the f16 turn off fbws (flyby wire system) then full throttle and you want the trim at 6% it should go by itself, then get to above 420 knots and pull back constantly, I usually turn the plane sideways pull back and flip the opposite way still sideways (so the wings are vertical to the earth and sky) until you pick up speed I can get the f16 to about 1500 knots at sea level and above 50000 to 100000 ft doing the same thing it can get up to mach 10. I have Gforce effect off and damage off only thing on is fuel but you don't need that on either for it to work , I've beaten darkstars doing this
I know in real life you would hit like 25 g's and passout before this is possible or cause stress to the aircraft, but still not sure if the aerodynamics would hypothetically work or if this is a bug after the darkstars and mach 10 was implemented. Enjoy

I really enjoy this F-16. Not really my kind of aircrafts, these military jets, as I'm more of a GA kind of guy. However, it's great fun taking this one for a quick little spin around the Lofoten islands, departing from either Bodø og Evenes. Now, I made the horrible mistake of buying it from the marketplace, even if I know that the only sensible way to purchase is from the developer directly. Because of this I am not able to get visible weapons on the aircraft. And sadly, there is no way of getting a refund. Lesson learned...

I didn't delete anything, someone must have reported it *shrug* You can disagree with me, but I maintain why I post reviews... at least people can see the product, warts and all and see what they'll get when they jump in. Not everyone is an expert or specialist, and most don't want an aircraft you have to study before you can even operate. Some do, and there are aircraft and sims to cater. Some just want to enjoy a rendition for some fun alongside other flying. This sim is certainly a specailist for GA type flying, there are others for airliners and others for combat. Doesn't mean you can't have crossover. And for a jet novice, I think it wasn't bad. I don't fly airliners but nobody cried when I reviewed the CRJs as a product... same as this... product review, not accuracy review.
@@AvAngel A valid view, it's just personally I look for a review to be informed, by no means expert but someone who has at least done some research. I fully appreciate many watch reviews for different reasons, it's just not my cup of tea that's all. I certainly don't expect a review of pilot standard knowledge, that would be silly, just a certain level. Horses for courses. Cheers.
That's why I preface it with 'first look' rather than 'in depth' to ensure people know what they're getting... an overlook or a dive into it.

Not a bad landing. My first landing in DCS with a F16 ended in a high volicity come apart because I was used to flying the F18. Collapsed the gear and broke off the right wing tip.
I've done a split s onto the threshold starting from angles 30 at mach 1.2 ending at 120kts and a picture perfect touch down.
I fly DCS F-16. The amount of glaring inaccuracies in this model definitely keeps the money in my wallet.

Meh it looks ok but I’ll stick to DCS for all my combat aircraft needs. 400+ hours in DCS has made me quite the combat pilot. I’d love to fly in the sim sometime with ya. Real world pilot here, love your videos.
This have nothing to do with f-16, its only 3d model of it, else nothing there from f-16. If you want an realistic f-16, go to DCS World...
the outline of the cockpit is poorly modeled. The F16 does not look like this inside. Too sharp angles

Bought this and i am kinda disappointed. While the aircraft is good enough for my needs it has bugs and imperfections that i was not expecting considering you are already paying 30+ euros for it and also the aircraft was updated a few times in last months.
Pilot avatar suddenly disappear in external view and i don't know how to get it back, and afterburner is not working properly, graphically it goes from 0 to 100 and it looks unrealistic. In my opinion these details shouldn't occur at this point in the product and break all the immersion for me. Again, considering the product was already updated at least seven times, i was not expecting to find things like this. If they did not fix all this already, i doubt they will. Sad.

The MS/Asobo refusal to allow weapons functionality on their marketplace products just killed any chance I’ll ever buy from them.

Quite honestly, I like MSFS - but for anything fighter-jet I'll stick to DCS. It's not even about weapons - but flight model and systems are nowhere near satisfying on MSFS
That's fine if it's your personal choice but so many people are finding the opposite with this, with other DC Designs add-ons and with the JF Hawk along with others. Each to their own of course, this hits the spot for many flight simmers.
@@justflight of course it's a personal opinion, and DCS isn't perfect either - it all depends what you're looking for in a sim and which one provides the best experience for you. For the same reason, if a Cessna ever came to DCS - I'd rather buy it on MSFS/P3D/XP instead.
Depends, I don't mind the odd fighterjet, but I also don't want to bother with combat... so flying it in the 'real world' is enjoyable. Many different tastes.
Try intercept airliners if you use any traffic software,… it’s really fun…
MSFS has the advantage of not being a dull boring environment to fly in, keep larping.

I mean, I know damn well the systems are simplified and I don't expect every switch and system to work but the cockpit...looks like the guy modeling the cockpit couldn't even be bothered. Layout, textures, models, many things are wrong. For 25$, you should expect to have an accurate (or reasonably accurate) 3d model. I'm not even talking about the quality which seems to be lacking compared to the rest of the flight Sim market.

Cockpit kind of looks like garbage, not clear how to turn on the damn avionics. Panel is not where it should be (at least in other blocks)
This looks like a free to play FS2004 mod. Why would you ever pay half the price of the game for this?
Also, that landing was sex.
The design of that interior is horrible. The F/A-18E at least has the cockpit modeled correct even if most systems are inoperable but whoever developed this aircraft butchered the cockpit.
This is the C model, it's older.
@@AvAngel the C model , especially the block 50/52 variants you mentioned earlier was developed in the 90s and is still in use today by the US Air Force.

Lol not gonna lie, I’m a DCS viper pilot and this is kinda cringey haha, nothing against the creator though. I almost died when she said “fighting falcon” I mean it’s technically correct, but anyone who knows the jet calls it a viper.

@@rulingmoss5599 I know several irl viper pilots, flown with em numerous times, they use the lingo all the time, and dcs (confirmed by the irl pilots) has all the exact same controls and systems as real life. That’s why I mention it. But people like you probably won’t have it that your favorite flight sim is “arcade-ish” at times. 🙂

They didn’t even make a good effort, and people are like wooooow! Thunderbirds livery is off… that already says a lot. Pay a bit more and get a full fidelity f-16 on DCS… Next fighter to look forward to on msfs is just flight’s tornado…

I’m not going to comment on the quality of the fighter jets thus far in MSFS, but there’s literally no point people bringing up DCS. MSFS isn’t a combat sim, and DCS doesn’t have the whole world to fly in.
@@WhiteHawk77 it’s not even about dcs… it’s about effort… they can’t even make one of the most prominent liveries correct, also the cockpit is not accurate, why? If cockpit accuracy is limited by what msfs can offer then why do it in the first place? But they can’t even get the stick and throttle to look right? I think that’s not a limitation from msfs, that’s just pure laziness… aerosoft’s f-16 for fsx/p3d from I don’t know how many years ago is better looking, and they got a lot of stuff functioning… that says a lot
