This needs to be remade but with Lingshot flying the Felon, he’s much better at flying flanker type jets and I don’t think he would’ve made the same mistake.
Ancient radars can pick up stealth aircraft, but aren't much more useful than that, IIRC. So maybe Russians can tell the Felon pilot that they are going to be eating missiles from whatever oclock.

Fantastic fight by both parties. Had me at the edge of my seat just watching. Can’t imagine how it must’ve been for you both! Also, rest up man. Hope you feel better soon.
Pretty intense vid. Loved the fact it went from bvr and ended up in the merge. The ferocity of the tone when it came to the merge definitely makes this my top favorite vid of yours.
Considering the Radar cross section of a SU57 is the size of a big truck tire and the radar cross section of a F22 is the size of a marble, I would say that the stealth capability of the f22 is quite impressive and accomplishment in itself
@@ДмитрийЧеботарёв-щ8х You don't have to be an expert to know the RCS of an F-22 or a Su-57. The main problem is the huge radar ahead of the F-22 or Su-57. This radar reflects the radio signal better than anything in the world because it is designed to receive the signal. So the RCS of these fighters cannot be lower than the diameter of these radars, so it is definitely higher than 0.1, because 0.1 is the diameter of a Tomahawk cruise missile in flight, and the width of the radar is higher than a Tomahawk missile. This is not to mention other signal receivers, which are stuffed with fifth-generation fighters. It is simply impossible to hide this radar anywhere, all developments to reduce the visibility of onboard radars do not give significant results. It is important to realize that such fighters as the F22 and Su-57 achieve maximum effectiveness at high altitude and high speed. In such conditions, their missiles fly significantly farther. And if you know the principle of operation of pulse Doppler radars, you should realize that in such conditions their visibility increases many times. Because of the Doppler effect.) That's why there's no radar on F117 or B2. Stealth on fighters is as much marketing as super maneuverability.
No body really knows how stealthy the su57. all we know is its probably less than the raptor and more than an su35 with radar absorbent paint. I think it would be foolish to underestimate the su57, especially with the crazy radar they have in the thing.
Stealth is a relative term which depends on the relative capability of RCS reduction on one side versus increasing power and sensitivity of the radar and its tracking capability on the other. Just depends on which makes the most advances over the other. Then dont forget DCS is just guessing.
Wow GS!! That was an amazing engagement! Congrats on that win. Hard fought. You definitely earned that one! That was amazing to watch!! Thanks for this!!
Love these mixed fights, of long range engagement leading to a merged dogfight. Obvs, you can't control if you kill each other at long range or not, but just saying I like your videos that are a bit different from the pure, close range dogfights (but I do love those as well). Also, just to say I've only recently discovered your channel but you've given me hours of entertainment already. THANK YOU!!!!!
The felon isnt really any larger than the f22. If we took the tail tip off, its literally the same length of a raptor By total dimension, the f22 is the lsrgest 5th gen stealth fighter aircraft (its heavier and is thicker than both su57 and j20)
Honestly, the F22 and F35 and Su57 and the upcoming Su75 are all fine and dandy, but the one department which Su57 fucking dominates is the naming. Felon is probably the single fucking best name I've ever seen.
I love all of these videos but some more than others. This was def one of them. Well done. Always love the F22 and A10 vids but for some reason I think the WWII vids are my fav. Idk why I just love em.
Felon has L band arrays on the leading edges of the wings for detecting stealthy objects. Though not suitable for guiding a missile, they can at least give a general direction and position of a stealth aircraft. Dunno whether it has been implemented in DCS
@@hritamnath4919 Yes, but at dogfight ranges, x-band will see stealth just fine. Having side arrays means you can hold a lock at a much greater arc. Couple that with what you mentioned and an F-22 is is some serious trouble in a dogfight.
Being able to see stealth aircraft is incredibly old news - seeing and locking are two wholly different things. Of course if you can see it at all you can vector your own aircraft to intercept, and that's honestly the biggest advantage of tracking without a lock. Stealth still has a huge advantage, but the days where people weren't even sure where a stealth attack would come from are long over.
They aren't long over at all and assuming the Russian planes can see our isn't a given either. Red flag the pilots who went up against the raptor said they didn't know it was there until they were hit recently.
One of the best videos i've seen since a long time. Thank you so much for the great quality content. Been here since 2020 and never seen such a good fight as this one.
The system russians could use is probably something like Czechoslovakian Tamara radar from 1986. Instead of radiating waves and picking reflected ones, tamara radiates all directions waves that reflect from ionosphere and picks all of them. So instead of picking reflected waves, tamara shows target location where there are no waves accepted back, therefore it doesnt really matter if youre stealth or not, Tamara picks you anyway
It's a wavelength thing. Lower wavelengths can actually see stealthy aircraft, but targeting radars are higher freq and effectively blind. Though this info comes from Russian evaluation of the F-117.
@@fshn4x4 it is not. FIrst firing solutions use lower wavelengths. You can do a dual firing solution missile (it is going to cost more, but can be done) where you can combine lower wavelengths to detect with a IR solution to switch to when close to the target. Dual tracking heads are nothing out of the orinary.
Actually the stinger use a similar technology. While its main way of seeking it's target is IR, it also cross calculate a profile with negative UV (aka : this point doesn't give me sunlight back). I wouldn't be surprised if you could shoot down a F22 with a Stinger
This is my favorite video you have made so far. My brothers and I were watching it on our TV and we were totally intrigued by your amazing skills. Thank you!
Felon actually really did a great job on stealth tech that protected Raptor, Felon even so stealthy that nobody ever seeing it on action nor production, EVER
@@boostedbadboyzx12r31 Not just that, the Su-57s performace was based on russian sources. In those the plane is far ahead compared to what intelligence reports and leaked development documents suggest.
The F-22 is an insane aircraft accomplishment if you consider that despite being introduced in 2005, it's still stealthier than our biggest competitor the Su-57 more almost 20 years later.
I’m not sold on the Russian stealth claims. I’m also unconvinced the F-22 can be locked and shot down outside a few miles. Hopefully we don’t find out until they’re in museums. The stealth development project itself not to mention its resulting exterior coating is a huge cost in the Raptor program. The Felon is obviously inferior in this essential factor. Possibly very inferior, if you ask India.
@@MikePasqqsaPekiM Really, I think that's the biggest part of the issue; with a lot of these flight models, we're guessing as to their actual stealth capability.
@@MikePasqqsaPekiM Those stealth claims are bull anyways. A recent-ish leak on the Su-57s patent showed that it has an RCS of 0.1 - 1 m^2 depending on aspect, comparable to some 4.5th Gen fighters. Its nowhere near the 0.00015 m^2 of the F-35 for example lel
@Firebolt we will never know most likely. Both respective governments have a huge lobby from defense industries and are obviously going to list things in embelishment of their own industries and institutes. Rememeber ussr and Russia have a very strong academy of sciences and have always been strong in physics department. The Felon was not designed to fight its near-equals, just like the F22 wasn't. Both aircraft were designed to deliver weapons with minimal visibility to existing systems most countries have.
11:43 DCS moment be like... Rocket R73L - laser optical fuse. By irradiating the target and determining the distance to it from the reflected signal, the device detonates the warhead at the optimal distance. The fuse parameters are adapted to the size of the target being hit. A contact fuse is also provided (for cases of direct hit or fall on the ground or into water) in case of necessary self-destruction.
That's the philosophy. It either dukes it out with the enemy at long range where stealth matters, or when it close quarters it sacrifices stealth for flight performance.
@@fgk765jkh Maximum stealth happens when the nose is pointed at you for any aircraft; that doesn't mean all stealth fighters have shit stealth from all other angles (as the SU-57 does), it just means they don't have maximum stealth. Nice display of the most common character trait of the Dunner-Kruger effect: idiots always call everyone else idiots the instant they disagree.
"imagine looking out of the window and you see an F-22 flying under the power lines": wel you will be looking out of the window anyways because seconds later the sonic boom will crack them :D
The SU-57 should be able to detect the F-22 in BVR with it's 2 L-band AESA radars installed in the wingroots. On their own, they wouldn't be able to give the Felon a firing solution but it would give the rest of the sensors a rough vector to scan a specific part of the sky and possibly get a firing solution that way with it's other 3 AESA radars (X-band) and/or IRST.
I haven't seen an F-22 go under power lines but there is a TF-51 and Spitfire at the airport nearby that do high speed flyovers of my house, as well as B52s, C5s, and C130s from the air force base a few miles away. Also a Saab Draken that flies over once in a long while from somewhere. But in the summer almost like clockwork on Fridays and the weekends there is the roar of Merlins at 8 in the morning or so, and then again flying past the airport, turning around and landing at around 8-10 at night. Cool to watch them taking off and coming in to land.
I feel like numbers would have something to play here too. Russia only has like what, 5 Felons right now? The US has something like 180 active Raptors. I doubt it would get to the point where it's one Felon vs one Raptor. Love these fights though. It would be interesting to see if 1 Felon stands a chance against multiple F22s
Just looked and 21 Felons including 10 prototypes. And not at all in active service. I doubt they ever will be, despite Russian claims otherwise. A few of their "new weapons" are like this. T-14 is still just a parade tank and the AK12 does get deployed, but with no optics which was the whole point of adopting that POS.
@immikeurnot It's one thing to build it, but something noone does better in the world than the US, is proper supply logistics, maintenance crews and maintenance service contracts.
The situation of a direct clash between two fighters in the middle of nothing is impossible in principle in the modern world. Russian military doctrine considers aircraft primarily to be a means of reconnaissance, support and missile deployment. Air defense should be used to confront other aircraft in direct combat. Russian military doctrine also assumes that the interaction of the armed forces is more significant than their individual superiority. This difference arises from the fact that the Russian military doctrine was built and is being built for military operations near or inside its borders, and therefore simply does not imply independent military actions of any of the branches of the armed forces, while the American doctrine is built with the idea of fighting far from its own territory, where the main means will be precisely aviation, while the navy will act as a maximum means of basing it, and the army as a means of retaining the already occupied territory.
What you said about driving missiles into the ground, I always assumed that radar guided missiles after the 1970s would be smart enough that they detect the ground and simply skim along the ground until the get closer rather than continuing to lose altitude because they would know that the target isn't going to suicide into the ground. Anybody know anything about this?
If the missile dives to the ground it means it doesn't have a target lock. So while it could skim along the ground, it wouldn't know in which direction to skin, making the whole exercise fairly pointless and even dangerous for friendly targets - because the direction where it skims until target lock could be the direction of friendly forces.
@@phunkracy Surely more modern missiles don't have this weakness. It's not too hard to program a processor that goes: "ok, I'm heading towards the ground right now, let's not. I'll just fly horizontally towards the aircraft I am targeting and when I get closer then I will prioritise heading directly at it". It's not going to just decide to turn it's heading 100°. You are more or less mapping its 3D route onto a top down 2D one and it ignores the targets altitude change if it is decreasing beyond a certain rate. If there are friendlies in the direction of the target then that is the pilots decision, nothing to do with the missile.
You probably wanted to show a close range fight, but if you wanted to get as much advantage as possible, you shouldn't have launched 2 missiles at once at the end.

This needs to be remade but with Lingshot flying the Felon, he’s much better at flying flanker type jets and I don’t think he would’ve made the same mistake.
There is already a video of them fighting bvr to dogfight, but the f-22 wasn't capped.
Maverick already smoked two of them, so…
Ancient radars can pick up stealth aircraft, but aren't much more useful than that, IIRC. So maybe Russians can tell the Felon pilot that they are going to be eating missiles from whatever oclock.
oh man, i didn't know the SU-57 has intake noises like the Avro Vulcan used to have, that howling sure is great pyschological warfare.
and that fight had me on the edge!
Psychological warfare!? they have one that’s operational and it’s capability has been widely over exaggerated.

Interesting fight, I could not imagine the felon could get so close but I think that, if tracking, an R37 missile might be even more dangerous and get closer if compared with the r77 as showed in the video f22 vs mig 31.
In a target heavy environment aka WW3 the ranges suddenly decrease.
Fantastic fight by both parties. Had me at the edge of my seat just watching. Can’t imagine how it must’ve been for you both!
Also, rest up man. Hope you feel better soon.
That was an epic battle!
I love that it went to the merge naturally!
Right?!
How do you know the radar cross section of the su 57? Your friends from the CIA? Have you read in the media? Man caricature...
@@ДмитрийЧеботарёв-щ8хsukhoi leaked documents. Quiet, kid. I know it's hard when nobody loves and supports you 💔
@@ДмитрийЧеботарёв-щ8х You don't have to be an expert to know the RCS of an F-22 or a Su-57.
Because of the Doppler effect.)
That's why there's no radar on F117 or B2.
@@Greasy__Bearthe f-22 is classed as a stealth aircraft while the su-57 is class as low visibility, it isn't even worth comparing these aircraft

10 minutes of fight, thats impresive, and both had to use all their missiles even Sidewinders

They need to find a way to incorporate the SU57 IRST sensor and IRST sensors on all the jets that have them
Love these mixed fights, of long range engagement leading to a merged dogfight. Obvs, you can't control if you kill each other at long range or not, but just saying I like your videos that are a bit different from the pure, close range dogfights (but I do love those as well). Also, just to say I've only recently discovered your channel but you've given me hours of entertainment already. THANK YOU!!!!!
by the looks of it the felon is more of an energy fighter after making the mistake of being far too slow...like you said its quite the large plane...
The felon isnt really any larger than the f22. If we took the tail tip off, its literally the same length of a raptor
By total dimension, the f22 is the lsrgest 5th gen stealth fighter aircraft (its heavier and is thicker than both su57 and j20)
@@zebimicio5204 thanks for the info...im unsure of jets passed gen 3-4
You dipping under those line was ballsy, I love it
Honestly, the F22 and F35 and Su57 and the upcoming Su75 are all fine and dandy, but the one department which Su57 fucking dominates is the naming. Felon is probably the single fucking best name I've ever seen.
NATO gave it that name actually.
That archer had your number man! That was a tense fight! Way to go 👍
These two planes have been described as two leaves falling in the wind when they face off and it’s so true. Great video

This was an EXCELLENT battle! Man, really feel like the only reason you won here was luck. Sometimes that’s all you need!
I love all of these videos but some more than others. This was def one of them. Well done. Always love the F22 and A10 vids but for some reason I think the WWII vids are my fav. Idk why I just love em.
Now I want to see F-22 vs Balloon...
This DF was fun the F-22 maneuverability is no joke that powerline dip had me laughing I didn't even see it at first 😂
Felon has L band arrays on the leading edges of the wings for detecting stealthy objects. Though not suitable for guiding a missile, they can at least give a general direction and position of a stealth aircraft. Dunno whether it has been implemented in DCS
It has side arrays and IRST as well
@@victorzvyagintsev1325 side arrays are X band like the main radar! For stealthy targets, IRST and L band arrays will be useful
@@hritamnath4919 Yes, but at dogfight ranges, x-band will see stealth just fine. Having side arrays means you can hold a lock at a much greater arc. Couple that with what you mentioned and an F-22 is is some serious trouble in a dogfight.
This was a very entertaining , exciting , and suspenseful video. Clearly one of the best I’ve watched . I was in the edge of my seat . Nice job
One of the best heavy weight fights i've seen in DCS! Holy Moly!! Great work GS
Excellent flying, you make it look so good. Great video and commentary. Keep up the awesome videos.
One of the best videos i've seen since a long time. Thank you so much for the great quality content.
Been here since 2020 and never seen such a good fight as this one.
Great video as always but can you do a Eurofighter vs F-22 BVR engagement I would love to see that
We have come a long way throwing rocks at each other. But it's still throwing rocks at each other.
crazy see a jet fly under power lines.llove your vids GS
I just think its insane how at 5:06 you couldnt hear the f-22 until it was past the pov guy. Amazing stealth fighter.
Thats a characteristic of any plane going past the speed of sound.
Irrelevant to missile lock * shrug *
@@fshn4x4 it is not. FIrst firing solutions use lower wavelengths. You can do a dual firing solution missile (it is going to cost more, but can be done) where you can combine lower wavelengths to detect with a IR solution to switch to when close to the target.
Dual tracking heads are nothing out of the orinary.
That makes no sense. Maybe the reason why russia hasnt won a dogfight since ww1.
Thank you!

@@boostedbadboyzx12r31 Not just that, the Su-57s performace was based on russian sources. In those the plane is far ahead compared to what intelligence reports and leaked development documents suggest.
This one would be a great candidate for that post flight analysis with the 3d replays GS puts up sometimes.
The F-22 is an insane aircraft accomplishment if you consider that despite being introduced in 2005, it's still stealthier than our biggest competitor the Su-57 more almost 20 years later.

@@shades2.183 what's the problem?
Awesome job, you made all us Raptor fan boys proud :)
The Felon survivability against the raptor is astounding considering the gap in investment between the two programs.
@@Firebolt193 That's literally the target of the Felon.
Lol the Su-57 Felon has the RCS of an F-18 on its BEST side. and has the RCS of a jumbo jet from the ass.

11:43 DCS moment be like...
Rocket R73L - laser optical fuse.
By irradiating the target and determining the distance to it from the reflected signal, the device detonates the warhead at the optimal distance. The fuse parameters are adapted to the size of the target being hit. A contact fuse is also provided (for cases of direct hit or fall on the ground or into water) in case of necessary self-destruction.
these bvr fights that end up in the merge are some of the most compelling stuff on youtube.
The SU-57 is highly stealthy when its nose is pointed at you, not so much when it turns away.
F-22 also
That's the philosophy. It either dukes it out with the enemy at long range where stealth matters, or when it close quarters it sacrifices stealth for flight performance.
That's the same same for any stealth aircraft moron. Lol 😆
Su-57 has a minimum RCS larger than a super hornet, calling it stealthy is a joke
"imagine looking out of the window and you see an F-22 flying under the power lines":
wel you will be looking out of the window anyways because seconds later the sonic boom will crack them :D
Is it only 360 for everyone?
LockHeed Martin made a juggernaut when the made the F-22. Ni doubt.
Well said
Alright! I was cheering for you flying the Raptor. I’m glad you didn’t get shot down!
F-22 has killed a balloon, Su-57 has not killed a balloon, F-22 > Su-57
Epic!😂
I haven't seen an F-22 go under power lines but there is a TF-51 and Spitfire at the airport nearby that do high speed flyovers of my house, as well as B52s, C5s, and C130s from the air force base a few miles away. Also a Saab Draken that flies over once in a long while from somewhere. But in the summer almost like clockwork on Fridays and the weekends there is the roar of Merlins at 8 in the morning or so, and then again flying past the airport, turning around and landing at around 8-10 at night. Cool to watch them taking off and coming in to land.
I don't know whether Russians can see stealth or not, but I was the fifth view on this video so I think my abilities come close.
I have to say, that was intense. It all come down to who is the best pilot will win this fight.
@@FantastiXPvZ not anymore, when you are all supplie by China, who INDEED has the best logistics.
@Morfeu You obviously have no clue what Military Supply Logistics are, so please, Quiet boy.
Two of the best going at it. I could watch that all day.
That Archer shot pulled an impossible turn and still almost hit you
You probably wanted to show a close range fight, but if you wanted to get as much advantage as possible, you shouldn't have launched 2 missiles at once at the end.
this one had me at the edge of my seat, god damn those close calls are insane
