I’m really glad that family requested your help. That Boston terrier looks plenty smart and quick to learn, so happy you emphasized that training is the humans’ responsibility and especially the parents. The little boy is basically on the same level as the puppy in terms of being distracted and hyperactive, and the little girl is more mature but still very young herself. Of course you don’t expect a child to be an expert dog trainer. So, so glad you gave such a wonderful lesson and one we can watch over and over again on TH-cam.
Without shame to the mother, this is exactly the mistake a lot of families unknowingly make when getting a puppy. They tell a kid “you’ve got to take care of the dog if you get a dog” and all that when realistically, that’s too much to expect for most children. They’re still growing up themselves. You wouldn’t expect your children to raise their younger siblings, don’t expect your children to raise and properly train your dog. Those who can are the exception, not the rule.
Pearl of a Girl Nursery I think they mean feeding or letting the dog out to use the bathroom. I know I wouldn’t expect them to walk the dog alone at a young age or train them literally. If someone did expect that that’s very naive.
Totally agree with this! My parents had this mindset and eventually it failed and we had to take the dog back to the shelter because I couldn't care for it. That was about 11 years ago and I'm afraid to get a pet now because I felt like I was just a bad owner when I was younger but really I was just too young for the responsibility. Even at 21 years old, my parents don't want me to get a dog because they are so much responsibility. At least I am able to understand what all goes into caring for a dog.
absolutely agree with you. you see dog bites because the kids were expected to train the dog, but the dog just sees them as a sibling, and when things get rough, or becomes challenging, the dog is blamed. Its not the place of a child, to teach a child, or a dog.
I’m 14 and an only child. The only way my parents let me get a dog is if I did everything. Including training, feeding, walks, bathing. Everything so I just gotta deal with the fact I have no help haha
As much as I wish I had sent my dog to Brandon for training before bringing him home th-cam.com/users/postUgkx1_veP7CApJK_GWy_TczaMciuG64PqJeU I am so grateful for this down-to-earth, practical guide. His training techniques and tips really work. Thank you as well for dedicating your life's work to rescue dogs, and to rescuing those of us who want the very best for our 4-legged family members.
I don't know how many times Zac needs to tell this mom control the environment and do not take her off leash. He says it and she replies with how do we keep her from running out of the door. He says keep her environment controlled and she says we have to chase her around the neighborhood. Jeesh...I just don't get it how people don't prepare for their puppies by learning about training first, and how people think it requires little effort to raise a puppy. As a mother, I can attest, that it's tantamount to the first weeks of having a baby. Stop being so cavalier about owning dogs. It's not a simple thing like getting a new toy, it's a HUGE commitment of time, resources and patience.
As a former puppy class teacher ( technically I’m a dog trainer but what I did was teach people not train dogs ) the majority of people with puppies, especially puppies and young kids, have the same attitudes. Patience goes a long way to turning attitudes around.
The training outcome of this dog will reflect on how this mother trained her kids. Hopefully she can reflect back on her past mistakes and apply it both to dog and kids as they all grow up together. This all depends on the mom and dad. However, I do agree the dog is not a toy and that's why our family waited for years for the right time to finally get a puppy when the kids became a little more responsible teenagers, understanding the tremendous commitment and understanding that having a dog is not only fun, but it's also like having a new baby in the house with specific needs. Some parents get caught-up into the cuteness factor, forget about basic training, and then blame the dog for its shortcomings. I've lost my patience on a number of occasions, but you have to be repetitive and patience in your training. All the kids basically want to do at this age is play with the dog, so this mother can't expect them to shoulder all the work.
Getting a puppy is like having a new born in the house. They have to have your time, patience and understanding. Allowances have to be made in routine for the pup. otherwise, the end result is dogs running out the door, dogs continuing to trash the house, and dogs being unruly. Its not a toy, its a living thing. People that buy puppies and expect it all to just turn out okay are honestly deluded.
We’ve had our puppy since he was about 3.5 weeks old. He’s now about 7.5, 8ish and I think all we’ve managed to do is train him how to be more aggressive. Thank you for this channel!!!!!
Adorable. I really enjoyed watching this, they all calmed down, even the kids. It looks like their mum was not aware of the fact, that she is the responsible person for dog training..
This is SO GOOD! It's one of your best vids demonstrating the power of taking really small steps in impulse training!. What valuable content! Thank so much Zak!
Im getting my first puppy in a week.. ive wanted a dog for so many years! I love this "cruelty free" method of training.. ive watched so many of your videos and im super inspired for training my new pup and have practiced on my boyfriends dog.. im mind blown this is so great thank you so much
Hilarious. Zak repeatedly says "Just like kids" while dealing with possibly the most "untrained" little boy lol. The mum hasn't managed to do it with her son so i wouldn't expect the puppy will be any different if she is to do it "just like kids" haha.
She probably expected he'd have the dog all trained or he'd train the kids how to continue after he was gone. I wish we could have seen her face when he said that it wasn't the kids' responsibility but hers, and more than once too.
I really like how you basically talk to the kids the same way you’d talk to an adult. I think the little girl is going to be an excellent dog trainer. Maybe she can train her brother, too :D
It's so helpful to see you be so focused in situations with children. It sounds like this family could use a crate, though. I hope they learn to put the pup in a crate before they walk out the door. We did this with our poodle for about 7 months before he showed he could be trusted. Even then, there were no things to chew up, and we kept gates up. He's now 10 months, and his behavior is getting better all the time thanks to you!!
A BIG THANK YOU FROM WESTERN AUSTRALIA!! Training two rescue dogs and you're advice and videos are a constant inspiration and motivation to keep going and not to give up on my beautiful and previously damaged fur babies. I notice the changes in their behaviour and temperament the more training I invest in them xxx
+Rolando Susbilla thats like looking at a dog thats biting everyone and saying that its misbehaving, you shouldn't be mad at the dog or the boy in this case but the mom.
The kids are adorable. The young man is actually helping by causing all sorts of distractions Zak tries to expose a dog to outside when training. See how I turned this nightmare into a positive?
Today was a super frustrating day in training my 13 week old corgi pup so thank you for this. It gives me faith and the encouragement to keep up the training despite the frustrating days
This is the stuff I have been trying to tell my mom about her new puppy. Forwarding the video to her to watch. Maybe if she hears this from a 2nd source she will listen.
I really really enjoy this video because it more focused on the actual family that he's training and the dog instead of at me, the viewer. I like to see the interaction between the family and this makes me thing if the kids can do this casually then i can too.
I like this format as well. It shows another side of Zak interacting with a carer. Zak is much more serious here with great explanation. Appreciate this as the information is beginning to sink in for me :)
I’m so impressed with Zak George trainings. I read the book and then statutes looking for the TH-cam videos as I’m training my puppy. I am so happy with the reslistic aspect of it all! My dog is catching on greta and I have learned so much!
Thanks to this guy, within 3 days my dog has learned 3 tricks. Spin, roll over, and play dead. We are currently working on sit pretty! Love your videos!! 💖
Really informative video . What's grt in this is to see the kid goofing around and still the pup concentrates. For a new fur parent like myself I would like to say THANK YOU
Can I thumbs up this video 100 times??!! Zac, I LOVE your people training videos!!! This helps me sooooo much. You have helped me realize most issues are simply a lack of training. It's me, not the dog!❤❤❤
You read my mind! I was just thinking the other day I wish he would define the different types of training and when to do them and when to just let your puppy have fun. And here it is! Thanks. Zac!
Loving these last 2 videos! Answering all my questions and clearing up the holes in my training of our 10mth old pup and reminding me about the freedom they should have at this age.
alot of people must be commenting about the kids before watching this whole ep! i think everyone does really well zak literally trains the dog and the family at the same time which is all of it :) and it seems to come around in the end to with everyone learning! i a new first dog owner and i know i need as much training as the dog! Zak ur video have been such a huge help to train me to train my dog we both thank you :) can not belive this is free im going to buy ur book just to give u some money back for these videos :)
I love watching your videos even though I don't have a dog. But I am getting one in a few months so I am preparing! Thanks for taking so much time to make these videos they are so great!
Today, I'm getting a Siberian husky. It's a male pup. I'm only ten and only had one other dog, I didn't know how well I would be able to train him. These videos will really help. I know I'm a little late, but thanks for the videos.
It is really not a good idea to get a pup when you have your hands full already unless you are an experience dog owner. Mornings could be crazy and with a new pup, high energy child and the pressure of being on time for work and school thing could go wrong. Let's hope she is up for the challenge but for what I heard so far this dog has no future with this family....
Redscorpion 4739 this is a clear example of a person that 1-got a dog that they got because it was cute and not even knowing what the breed was, let alone it’s personality and needs. 2-thought she could just buy it and forget it and leave it to the children who aren’t even old enough to be responsible for another life. 3-blames all its problems on very young children and puts it all on them instead of taking the responsibility for adopting the dog in the first place. 4-saw a dog as a Christmas present instead of and actual commitment and family member.
Amazing as usual . You should consider being an ABA therapist . You abilities to follow through with consistency and wait out the kids behavior to bring him into the training, brilliant !
Am I the one who found the kids incredibly adorable? Esp the little boy laughing hysterically when the dog stole his shoe. His laugh was contagious and so cute! You people need to lighten up, it's a kid with a brand new dog. Once the excitement wears off, he will be an excellent student. Children tend to be naturals at this sort of thing.
Excited about this video because I’m obsessing over Boston Terriers.... I have one (I have a Lhasa too) and I want another.... 😁 that Boston is so handsome and smart! Love this kind of video where the owner is asking questions and things...
the amount of people in the comments complaining about the kids, saying the mom’s not doing her job cause that 4-5 year old’s a bit hyperactive, and overall just being super weird and rude about literal CHILDREN: y’all expect people to empathise with dogs but can’t extend the same basic decency to children? you’re telling these people they should read up on dog training, behaviour, etc. but can’t figure out why a 5 year old might not sit still for long? lmaooo the lack of self awareness is *chefs kiss*
Aww there dog is so cute😊 he did really well his first training session. It's good to have the kids act like themselves, because that's the training environment the dog will be in. They were a little hyped up but kids will be kids, cool video.
1 million thumbs up for this video. I’ve been waiting for a Boston Terrier to be featured. I have the same challenge with mine. He’s 6 months with endless energy. Our area is filled with irresponsible pet owners with fleas and some doesn’t have shots yet so he’s always at home in my studio apt but he has tons of toys; chew toys etc. He occasionally pees in one area. Ironically, he knows how to poop in the right area but he pees everywhere 😒
I have a 9 month old 1/2 chihuahua and 1/2 minpin. My dog is the most hyper and has the worst separation anxiety I’ve ever seen. When I got him, I had no idea how difficult it would be training him. I’ve always gotten older dogs from rescue shelters. Louie is the first dog I got as a puppy.
Get a crate and a Kong. Teach boundaries and calmness inside the crate. Make the crate a fun and relaxing place to be. Fill the Kong with wet soaked dog food, peanut butter, and whatever else your dog likes. I would practice leaving your dog in his/her crate with the Kong before you start leaving her/him alone for real. On how to teach boundaries and calmness, go to AbsoluteDOGS on Facebook and download their free ebooks.
tbh his book is pretty useless if you aren't a new dog owner and don't know the basics of grooming a tricks. If you are a new dog owner though I would advise you to use his video playlist
People criticising the kid being a little naughty and doing what kids do. I don't think there could be a better and more realistic training session than this. You may never find ideal situations while training your puppy so learning to work with what you have and under all circumstances is crucial.
I am soooo very excited because I'm getting cockapoo puppy in 3 weeks, she's going to be my first dog I ever owned, Zak I've been watching your videos like crazy and I feel very confident on training her..... I SERIOUSLY CANT WAIT TO GET HER and her name is also Luna (not because of this video I like the name a long time ago) Thank you for what you do! Without these training videos I wouldn't know what to do so thank you very much!!!!😄😄
Soo Good! Beautiful family! Can you do more videos with kids and dogs. As the Mum, I am the main trainer - and he has learnt to sit, stay, down, leave it - very smart and obedient, really no issues! But when left to play with the kids, our 3-month Groodle puppy starts to act out, jumping and humping the kids. When I am around he is very well behaved.
@@minimantaray what make kid different from adult? Becuz they dont know alot of thing. Its parent responsible to make their kid know manner and what is right what is wrong. Kid is not as dumb as u think. They do have sense of reasoning. She cant even make the kid behave and she try to ask Zac teach the kid to teach the dog to behave?
@Alyssa Coon i have kids, and now they are grown up. I think i used up all my kid patience up on them, as now kids just annoy me. It seems like if you say you dont like kids, people think your going to get a an axe and go out and kill them lol.. no law says we HAVE to like kids.. i guess thats the price for being so honest eh :)
Boston terriers are definitely my favorite breed. I had a beautiful boston named sassy with two different colored eyes. Boston terriers are definitely high energy. But my sassy was very loyal and willing to learn. Training time was the best part of her day. Bostons were breed to catch and kill small animals. So they are quite fast! They are also quite goofy. Having kids and a puppy Boston terrier would seem like a handful. Once they are well trained they are amazing best friends. Sadly my dog Sassy past away in December. I cried for weeks. It's feels like a actual person died.. it really makes me hope and pray that dogs go to heaven because I miss my beautiful girl so so so much. :'(
I just wanted to say your videos are great. I have been watching them since just before I got my puppy! Super helpful. FYI - I finally signed up with PetFlow.com so I could use the code you listed because this is one of the few online sites that carries Fromm's. You might want to update your caption as there is a minimum purchase of $65 with your code. either way thanks for all the useful information!
If its your first dog I dont recommend it If its your first better try retrivers first Gsd will control you if you dont know what you are doing Or you can pay a trainer to train your puppy but just dont forget make feel your the master, boss, alpha.
Ac Francisco23 No, we’ve had many dogs in the past. Our last dog was a Alaskan Malamute but she died from cancer which is common for her breed. I’ve had an Australian Shepherd and huskies/coyote mixes.
It takes a real professional to have such an incredible amount of patience.
Lol the sister talking about her brother “we needa train him too”
Sophia Benavent kids will be kids
@@gullepuppsing not really. I see bunch of well behave kid. Lazy adult excuse

I love Boston babies!! Going to start working this with our 4 month old Boston today!
Way to go Luna, Lucy, and Miles!!! Great episode!
Miles was just annoying..
Aww there dog is so cute😊 he did really well his first training session. It's good to have the kids act like themselves, because that's the training environment the dog will be in. They were a little hyped up but kids will be kids, cool video.
I thought Zak was patient in training dogs and puppies. Now that he trains puppy with kids around i realise his patience is off the roof.
"Maybe you can teach him how to stay"- LOL
1 million thumbs up for this video. I’ve been waiting for a Boston Terrier to be featured. I have the same challenge with mine. He’s 6 months with endless energy. Our area is filled with irresponsible pet owners with fleas and some doesn’t have shots yet so he’s always at home in my studio apt but he has tons of toys; chew toys etc. He occasionally pees in one area. Ironically, he knows how to poop in the right area but he pees everywhere 😒
I think the young boy is in need of a little bit of training too. Cute kids. Great training video. Thanks!
Lisa Hoder You most likely have to change a lot of your lifestyle with your dog in order to eliminate his separation anxiety.
Get a crate and a Kong. Teach boundaries and calmness inside the crate. Make the crate a fun and relaxing place to be. Fill the Kong with wet soaked dog food, peanut butter, and whatever else your dog likes.
I would practice leaving your dog in his/her crate with the Kong before you start leaving her/him alone for real.

hi zak your i completed your book its so helpfull thanks alot for writing it for us. thumbs up for zak
rawadhabib 😊👍
ced winter i am a dog trainer for almost a year
rawadhabib how do you become a dog trainer?
he has a book? whats the name of his book?
tbh his book is pretty useless if you aren't a new dog owner and don't know the basics of grooming a tricks. If you are a new dog owner though I would advise you to use his video playlist
Your videos are so good and so helpful! Plus I like how you bring the guest in the room. Keep up the great work I love your videos so much!
People criticising the kid being a little naughty and doing what kids do. I don't think there could be a better and more realistic training session than this. You may never find ideal situations while training your puppy so learning to work with what you have and under all circumstances is crucial.
Love this format for videos!! Thanks, Zak!
I adore the sister! Mom: "Miles, stay" Sister: "You need to train him, too"🤣🤗
I am soooo very excited because I'm getting cockapoo puppy in 3 weeks, she's going to be my first dog I ever owned, Zak I've been watching your videos like crazy and I feel very confident on training her..... I SERIOUSLY CANT WAIT TO GET HER and her name is also Luna (not because of this video I like the name a long time ago) Thank you for what you do! Without these training videos I wouldn't know what to do so thank you very much!!!!😄😄
Great work, great book. Can’t say how much I love you work
The kids just annoyed the hell out of me.
Emine Canipek they’re Children .. y’all are such freaks
That was not nice
yup, same. I dont particularly like kids lol
You’ve just gained a new subscriber. Brilliant training and manner. Very impressed!
Love this it helped my dog a lot by the way you inspire me to be a dog trainer
Omg thats the cutest funniest little pup ever!!!!!
I needed this reminder today ! Brilliant refresh 🤩
6:29 "Dude, chill out, we are on youtube!"
I'm going to have to work on the stay with my pup for sure. Thank you for the tips!
Thank you so much! I'm going to start working with my dog on stay!
Do more video's about pitbulls to educate people
Super vidéo ! Thank you Zak.
Thank you for all the great tips. I use as many of them as I can. And they really help.
Finally a boston terrier!!
Wow, you're really quick with training
I love your vids and it makes my dog a good dog
I’m getting a German Shepherd in 3 weeks! 😍
#AdoptDontShop
xSimplyRamen how can u hold your excitement? I wouldn’t be able to! I’d be like give me the dog now!!!!
If its your first dog
I dont recommend it
If its your first better try retrivers first
Gsd will control you if you dont know what you are doing
Or you can pay a trainer to train your puppy but just dont forget make feel your the master, boss, alpha.

No, we’ve had many dogs in the past. Our last dog was a Alaskan Malamute but she died from cancer which is common for her breed. I’ve had an Australian Shepherd and huskies/coyote mixes.
I love the paintings on your new set
This is a very good lesson
Can your dog get “too much” training in a day? Where should I draw the line of how much my dog can train in a day? LOVE the channel, keep it up!
