I've been saying my pups name and when he makes eye contact I'll reward him. He's only 7 weeks and already comes when he's called so that method seems to work wonders.

I would love to see more training videos for puppies who aren’t food motivated. Our puppy is so chill, especially around food (isn’t interested in treats) that he feels challenging to train!

I have two mini Aussies, one is food motivated, one is play motivated. Balls are her favorite, so I would use that instead of food.

For best results, training with treats should be mostly used when the puppy/dog is hungry, before any regular feeding time.

It’s been almost 10 years since I last trained a puppy. I came home exactly one day ago to a 12week old black lab puppy. Training this time is easier is some aspects and harder in others. One of those reasons being the fact it’s -10 (but feels like -24). He hates the cold. But it’s also a good insensitive for him to not get distracted and just use the bathroom so he can get a treat and come back in the warm cozy home. Thanks for all the tips. I’m gonna step up my training game with him. My 10 year old German Shepherd is a great dog, but I was 17 when I trained her and she’s a brat in some ways. So this is my chance to really do it right.

I said I wouldn't get another for a long time but then this beautiful 4 month old puppy that my step sister was looking for a home for popped into my messages from my mom. I just adopted a 2 year border collie mix from the shelter a week ago.
She is a darling. But I am struggling between training her with treats and feeding her dry food. I give 2 sessions of proper 15mins training a day, and throughout the day is she does perform good tasks, I will give her treats too.
She’s doing very good with all my training so far with the treats. (Some task can even be performed without treats now). But now she doesn’t really eat her fry food for breakfast & dinner. It’s like she doesn’t want it since she know she’s gonna get treats during training or if she presents good behaviour

My dog is smart I have no doubts, he has shown it several times already, but wow does it play hard to get, the puppy is so stubborn and wants everything his way.
It’s just the 3rd day and I have him on a type of military training routine already, otherwise I feel it will be worse in the future, better to correct from now.
I’ve been thinking I may be too strict, but I think being this way, even controlling when to pet him, is helping so much, he is slowly learning, and when he hears “play” or “come” he gets excited, I think there’s trust being built which is very important as well.

I've a 7 weeks old Shih-tzu puppy, that learned his name within 3 days of constant training.
And it's getting better every day. The issue that i sometimes face, is the loose of value when i call his name and he's being distracted. Using high value treats to get him focused on me, doesn't always solve the problem, because he smells the treats so fast, so that he comes towards me automatically.

These are amazing manners training. I have a 3 months old puppy and am trying out these with him. Could you please suggest what treats I can use to train him which are not heavy for him. Thanks

I am collecting my pup soon and like the idea of using the houseline.
I was just wondering do I use the same houseline on the pup when taking outside for toilet ?
Also when leash/walking training do I use the housline for this or change over to another leash. Ie slip lead for example? Thanks

My puppies were potty trained in 3 days never pooped in the house. No crate only allowed in kitchen. I took them out every 2 to 3 hours. When they pooped or peed I told them Good girl thanks for Po Po or Good Girl Thanks for Pee Pee. So they would knew the difference The puppies only Poop on dirt or in the bushes. Never Pooped on grass, sidewalk, or on pavement. Now I ask my dogs do you need to Pee Pee or Poop Poop. Some will get up and go outside others stay on their Dog Beds. If I go outside they all come those they need relieve themselves do, the others just lay down and wait. .They are East German GSD mix so they are very smart. They are Pooping Machines so this training is very important. This video has very Good advice you Want your Dogs to see you in a Positive light. No yelling or hitting, All your Dogs will fear you and will Not work with you. Once I saw an older dog pick up the leash of a puppy in her mouth and Lead the Puppy away from the owner that was mistreating the Puppy. In Other words the older dog didn't trust the owner and was leading the puppy to safety. The lady was running after them and the older dog just kept leading the puppy away. Being mean to one dog can ruin your relationship with all your dogs. Not everything will be prefect, They are Dogs.

My pup is 2 1/2 years old. She’s a well behaved dog thanks to all your training but we haven’t been able to get her to sleep in. She loves getting up early. She whines and cries when she gets up. She goes pee before bed and most mornings doesn’t need to pee. Any tips to get her to sleep later?

Trying so hard to use these tips for our puppy but the biggest issue we have he is not food/treat motivated at all! I have to coerce him to even eat his kibble usually! Treats he’ll just leave and we’ve tried a couple different ones now. Do you have any recommendations?
