Just an update on this one... I was in Montreal March 2023, I went to Qing Hua Dumplings (best dumplings ever!), Marusan (BEST RAMEN EVER! The best food I had in Montreal), and L'avenue (the place was cool, good protions but too crowded). Can't thank enough for your recommendations ♥ Have a good day! :)
Spectacular video!! I am also from Vancouver. I love my home city but Montreal is a foodie's delight to visit and I do often!! I love your list of Top 7 Montreal Restaurants!! Cheers!
Born and raised here. I knew all but 2 on the list and will be trying them for sure. (Both asian restaurants) Great list, spot on. Also a short and sweet video, straight to the point. Good Job!
its really not. i was just there yesterday and it cost over 17$ for a 'regular' which came on one of the smallest plates ive ever seen. crazy shrinkflation
As a Montrealer (born and raised), I 100% approve of this list. :) It's missing a few Montreal classics : Most Montrealers I know, including myself also eat at the following restaurants all the time : - Portuguese chicken : Ma poule mouillée, Boca Iberica, Romados, Jano, Coco Rico, etc. - Rotisserie chicken : Au Coq/Benny & Co (chain), St-Hubert (chain) and Chalet Bar-B-Q, etc. - Montreal hot dogs and fries : Le Petit Québec (chain), La Belle Province (chain), Chez Matante, etc. - Lebanese : Amir (chain), Boustan (chain), etc. - Thai : Pamika, Thai Express (chain), etc. - Sushi : Saint Sushi, Sushi Shop (chain), etc. - Neapolitan style pizza : Bottega, Au 900 (chain), etc. - Roman style pizza : Café San Gennaro, FCO di Fiumicino, etc. - Thin crust style pizza : Pizzeria Napoletana, etc. - Montreal style pizza (all dressed) : Corneli, Nino, etc - New York style pizza : Adamo, etc.
Sadly, The Main Deli restaurant is closed. That being said, besides Schwart'z, Montreal is blessed with good smoked meat places like, Lester's, and Snowdon Deli, just to name a few. I never had a bad smoked meat sandwich in my hometown, Montreal.
Lester is junk, more like the same stuff they served at the now defunct Ben's Delicatessen, Snowden Deli is good with their club rolls, but not smoke meat.
Montreal is an amazing town, And there's no shortage of amazing towns to visit. Im excited to visit Schwartz deli, Do their dripping sandwiches taste good? 😍
If you go, make sure you order your smoke meat sandwich medium fat or better, fat…don’t go for the ‘’ lean’’ version , you will miss what make the sandwich so great. And order it with side of french fries, a dill and a cherry coke.
Main over Schwartz's? Hmmm... Only possible if they are serving the Smoke Meat Pete's smoked meat, which I hate to say was better than Schwartz's. I haven't lived in Montreal for a while so maybe... maybe... I do remember when I was there, the Main was serving the cheap version. And then I was blown away after trying Smoked Meat P's and blown away again when I found out the recipe came from the son and wife of the owner of the Main... I remember asking the son "why dont you share the recipe with your dad" and he was adamant about "NOT SHARING WITH HIS DAD" 😅
Montreal Bagels are the size bagels should be. For some reason bagels in NYC and elsewhere have become huge over the decades. The Montreal bagels are also crunchy/crisp on the outside and soft (not too soft) on the inside.
Love this list. I would just skip La Banquise which is overrated as hell and replace it with Maam Bolduc. Or if you want a REAL greesy joint, Paul Patates or Paulo and Suzanne. Kudos on avoiding Schwartz's dry meat.
La banquise is no frills? I'd say it's the opposite in being all frills. I dont get why people always pick that spot to highlight poutine when there are so many more authentic places.
As a montreal, - La banquise is the worst poutine you can have - Lester is the best place to have a smoked meat - Joe beef is way better than le pied de cochon - l'avenue is the worst overpriced brunch, go to foiegwa
It's so easy to ask any Montrealer how to pronounce the names of the restaurants before you give their names in the video. But somehow, many youtubers don't take the time to inquire properly. Kind of ironic that this simple task is not done.
Also! The Main does not exist anymore. I concur it's the best! I've been to Swartz's twice since I moved here in '79 - with two out of town friends - from Seattle, and Senegal. There are many more treasures in Montreal!
La poule Mouillée in front of La BAnquise has the best chicken and excellent poutine as well
Montreal is the best foodcity in Canada. We have it all at any given time.
I have seen several Montreal food videos, but definitely this is the best! Thank you.
Wow, thank you so much! I really appreciate it!

Thank you! a few more now on the to do list!

Thank you!
Schwartz is the best! I love classic old style. Can’t beat it. However I don’t think I have ever been to main.
Fantastic list. La Banquise is the best.
its really not. i was just there yesterday and it cost over 17$ for a 'regular' which came on one of the smallest plates ive ever seen. crazy shrinkflation
@@varunaX I was at LaBanquise again in April. The best quality. The price was fair. The regular portion is more than enough for 90% of eaters.
I'm going in November and gave been watching a lot of food videos. So glad to hear about the Schwartz alternative!
yay i hope you like it!!!
At L'Avenue, you HAVE to get the Eggs Benedict, it`s their specialty and it's amazing.
As a Montrealer (born and raised), I 100% approve of this list. :)

Great tips thx! Going to Montreal with gf 1/1-1/4
If you have any updated recos, we are open to them thx!
Schwartz’s is a classic and amazing.
Sadly, The Main Deli restaurant is closed. That being said, besides Schwart'z, Montreal is blessed with good smoked meat places like, Lester's, and Snowdon Deli, just to name a few. I never had a bad smoked meat sandwich in my hometown, Montreal.

Great content, keep it up!
I agree with your choices except L'avenue...I had the worst service ever there.
Hi. How much was the bill at Pied de Cochon ?
Nice. Except for Lavenue
If I could visit Montreal more often, I’d order poutine more than anything else! It is a delicacy in Quebec.

Smoke Meat Pete for the win!
Main Deli is closed permanently. RIP.
As a Montrealer (born and raised), I approve of this list. :)
Good video food yummy 😋 l like 👍❤️
There's always a line in front of La Banquise and IMO, it's overrated. Try Patati Potata instead - that's the local's favorite.
Montreal Bagels are the size bagels should be. For some reason bagels in NYC and elsewhere have become huge over the decades. The Montreal bagels are also crunchy/crisp on the outside and soft (not too soft) on the inside.
i totally agree!
👍👍
Yummy!

Hahaha thanks for your input and for the reccos!
'MAIN' is out of business
Main deli is no more they closed down
I'm going there this September. Will be there for a week. Can you recommend a good French wine that is no more then 50 Canadian? Good video.
updtae the Main deli is clossed permantily
La banquise is no frills? I'd say it's the opposite in being all frills. I dont get why people always pick that spot to highlight poutine when there are so many more authentic places.
I drooled while watching this
Sadly, the Main DEli has now closed forever.
oh no i didn't know that! :( i loved that place
I'd skip La Banquise and go across the street to Ma Poule Mouillée instead.
Main deli is closed
Anyone who thinks Au pied du Cochon is bad or overpriced is brand new. Someone needs to travel more.
Le " Main " is closed
yea too bad I really liked that place😔
As a montreal,

The way Americans say poutine lol
She’s from BC not America. To be fair I think it’s everyone outside of Quebec who pronounce it like that, even other French speakers ;)
It's so easy to ask any Montrealer how to pronounce the names of the restaurants before you give their names in the video. But somehow, many youtubers don't take the time to inquire properly.
Kind of ironic that this simple task is not done.
who asked lmao
If you're going to be so picky about it, might as well expect viewers to learn how to read the names properly too.
I love the food in Montréal and Quebec City. But can we be honest and all admit that Poutine SUCKS!?!
POUTIN....NOT POUTEEEEEEN!!
Hello i'm from indonesia
Sorry but au pied de cochon, no way for me. I went there and all dishes ordered were bad, especially the duck poutine. Everything is overpriced.
Yuck! Phooey! Your choices are awful! We have outstanding Italian, Portuguese, French, Chinese, Japanese restaurants! Stop showing yucky eateries!
Where? Please share your list. We plan to visit this summer
The list is actual good. I added some "must try" in my comment
Also! The Main does not exist anymore. I concur it's the best!
