I was born and raised in montreal and most of the places I haven’t tried! I’ve heard of them, but I haven’t tried yet. Orange Julep though is a must! Make them Add ice cream in the orange juice and that is the best shake for me ❤️❤️❤️

While La Banquise makes a good regular poutine, the one that they make at Ma Poule Mouillée, topped with their chicken and chouriço sausage, is such a better option.
On behalf of Montreal, thanks for coming by and we hope to see you again sometime.

I was blessed to grow up in Montreal the nest rib steak and fries you can find anywhere.

Good taste on choosing Fairmount bagels over St-Viateur, but you forgot another iconic Montreal eatery that was just two doors down called Wilensky's Light Lunch.

Next time I'm in Montreal, I'll make sure to check that place out, thanks for the recommendation!

la banquise and jean talon marche always a must for me as well. I am surprised you chose Fairmount over Viateur for bagels. I am sure they are both equally good but I have been in favour of Viateur for many years. Really enjoy your narration showing both you and your husband's reactions. Thank you!

Thanks for your comment, Jennifer! I know having to choose just one of them was tough. They are both truly Montreal staples :)

Me too , st. Viateur is my spot, I’ve never been to Fairmountv- I was beginning to doubt my choice. Lol

@@daliadeeelite67 Fairmount Bagel is the original descendant of Montreal Bagels when they were located on St-Laurent Blvd. in 1927 the Shlafman family still run it, St-Viateur only opened in the early 50's after two employees from Fairmout Bagels decided to open their own shop the next street over, but has since been sold to two Italian brothers in the 90's.

Actually they have the Orange Julep drink at a well known chain called Orange Julius, which used to be all over the US and Canada. It is now mostly in NJ and in Singapore, South Korea, the Philippines and Japan. It tastes exactly the same as Orange Julep, with the orange creamsicle taste to it.

Oh wow, I did not know that. I must pay a visit to one of the locations in NJ or South Korea. Thanks for the info!

Schwartz's is great, no doubt, but it's cursed by its own popularity. It can take hours to get a seat during the summer so I suggest going to Snowdon Deli. It's a little bit out of the way, but after you visit, you can check out St Joseph's nearby. The Cote des Neige neighbourhood is also great to explore as well.
