    Tchaikovsky ,One of the greatest composers . The greatest expression of depressive mood BY MUSIC
    and what a music ! - NO one did it as he does(even not G. Mahler ) . From the other side he composd
    the great ballets , full of optimism and livelihood - what opposites !

    He could be the greatest conductor of the XX Century, but he denied himself that title. One understood genius and the genius are crazy most of the time.

    Tchaikovsky and Brahms disliked one another's music. Even so, Brahms hopped a train from Vienna to Berlin to hear the German premiere of this symphony. As expected, he didn't like it: "beautiful themes but not symphonic."
    As for Celi's tempi: Like most of his performances, this one is highly idiomatic. You can like it or not; but it's what he meant.

      Your story is full of shit. Brahms told Tchaikovsky he liked the work except the final movement. If Brahms said it was not symphonic then he was was full of shit. The 5th follows classical European symphonic form to a tee, with great melodies to boot. Brahms couldn't touch Tchaikovsky when it came to writing a great melody.

    That is the most amazing second mvmt I've ever heard of this piece... I was caught off guard. That being said, the first mvmt is too slow in my opinion.

      Berstein is not doing faster..

    • @sebastian9445
      @sebastian9445 ปีที่แล้ว

      if it were any faster it would be ruined, he believed in organic tension, the tempo depended on the sonority of the hall, but who knows, I personally find it a very boring tempo, but he makes it vivid, fair enough for me.

    • @eagle1ear
      @eagle1ear ปีที่แล้ว

      We are accustomed to faster tempi, partly because of the tempo of modern life, and partly because what record company executives demanded in order that performance times fit within the confines of the media delivery mechanisms (especially during the LP era). Most listeners become conditioned to expect certain aspects of performance to agree with what they were exposed to early on. When I listen to Celibidache's recordings I suspend judgement, especially as regards tempi, as I know how often he is criticized about that aspect of his work. Almost inevitably I find that in his recordings I hear things that are clearer than in many other performances. When I contrast that with how many times I have heard performances in which tempi were rushed and players and sections were playing sloppily. This I find to be unacceptable.

    I'm on board with Celibidache's tempi. The work of some other conductors can also be enjoyable. It's obvious that his tempi are often slower, but I do not find that boring or "wrong." With Celibidache I always hear new aspects of a score, things I have never realized before, even after 65 years of listening to recordings and attending concerts from Chicago to Berlin to Moscow. I am annoyed much more often by performances in which the conductor or the orchestra have rushed tempi and sounded sloppy.

  • @andreysimeonov8356

    Celibidache is close to a genius but, as it often happen to anyone in such a spiritual position, he is a very repelling human being. When I watch his rehearsals, I always wonder why the hell does he dare to yell at his musicians. If I were there, I definitely would jump up and punch him in the fat and complacent Zen-Buddist mug...Just to know how to behave properly. Otherwise, and I write this without any irony or sarcasm, for me he is one of the greatest conductors of all times! His Bruckner and Brahms are unsurpassed.

    マエストロは常に解釈に悩む。
    孤高の領域に達したマエストロのみが遅いテンポの演奏にたどり着くのだろう。

    Origins of music unevidenced. Except it is gift to humanity from God the Creator. Music continues in heaven. Discontinues in hell.
    Jesus Christ came from heaven to earth for one purpose only - to die on cross for remissions of pre-existing sins of every single person and to resurrect. Jesus Christ providing forgiveness from pre-existing sins for every single person, salvation from eternity in hell and free entry to eternity in heaven for all who repent of sins in Jesus Christ.
    Other side of death is eternity. Eternity in hell. Or eternity in heaven through Jesus Christ.
    Penalty of pre-existing sins already paid by Jesus Christ on The Cross. Accept HIM. Be saved from eternal in hell. Enter heaven. Enjoy heavenly music. For free.

      I do not want to hear anything fast, if ever, only if it starts slowly, and then to finish play it all together, as well as the Celibidache do, initially makes you feel each instrumentat at a time, and then put them all together, masterful
