Outstanding Rest in Peace Sir John
why is the sound quality so good, being recorded in 1958?
Oh I have to watch this!
Tolle Frau sehr sehr intressant was Sie sagt. Klasse Frau
Beautiful so much. Thanks ❤❤❤. BRAVO.
Can anyone tell me why this American Centennial March, composed by Wagner, is related to the National Anthem of America? I don't hear the melody or the rhythm from the Star Spangled Banner, the american national anthem. Can anyone help me understand why this is related to Wagner's composition "American Centennial March” ? PLEASE need your kind information. Thank you!
Magnificent !
I am back to report that since making my first comment I have listened to several other recordings of this symphony, and no one comes close to the soaring, inspiring festivity that Herbert Blomstedt does here. I can imagine Mozart himself conducting it this way. Moreover, Mr. Blomstedt for me transforms the categorization of this symphony. He moves it out of its typical grouping with Nos. 31 and 33 and puts it in the same league with the Haffner and the Linz. In his hands, it's the beginning of Mozart's late symphonies. THANK YOU AGAIN so much for posing this. Without this version, I might never have realized what a wonderful, engaging symphony this is.
Großartig! ❤

Beautiful performance!
Haydn Symphony 86 is one of his greatest, IMO, especially the profound slow movement. It is very similar to Haydn 102, another great masterpiece. Unfortunately, many of Haydn's greatest symphonies are ignored because they do not have nickname. Besides 86 and 102, great Haydn symphonies without nicknames include 85, 93, 97 and 98. The only Haydn symphony without a nickname and lots of popularity is 88. It is incredibly beautiful.
Just listen for me first time in live Die Walkure yesterday, and I think I fell in love with this segment, especially the last bit: it is so painfully nostalgic, Wagner didn't put the focus on the fire (that musically appears only when it is evoked) but all the drama is focused on Wotan's pain and his consciouness that it is punishing her daughter for having done something that he really desired. I think it has become my favourite Wagner's music segment.
Amazing!!
So do I, it,s marvellous.
Isn’t 13:54 in his 5th symphony?
So there's a Ballet performed at New York in 1941 called The Magic Swan.
So The Lake of the Swans is a Ukraine Ballet created by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky for his nieces and nephews at his sister's home in 1871.
EXCELENTE MUSICA!!! GRACIAS POR COMPARTIR.
Harris Walz Theme Song
Wagner composed this when he was 31-32 yo, it wonders me such a young man with limited musical education reached to these wonders. From where did he get the inspiration and knowledge to put this on a score?? OMG… it is overwhelming. Think what other composers were doing around the early 1840s and you’ll see this music was really from Mars or beyond…
When Sigurd Björling sings, it sounds like he is using a lot of air. Do you think that is true? I mean, in a way that would be hazardous for most singers but he seems to have fared well. Maybe it's just that one is used to a bit more vibrato than he has.
Oh My God, this is an absolutely tremendous performance by the 92-year old Maestro Asahina. The orchestra is wonderful of musicality as well !
No video ouch.
Incomparable Wagner !!!!
Hofmann, Kipnis and Schorr are the best, but Hofmann’s 1934 recording under Bodanzky is the best recording of Wotan of all time.
The best version of the soviet anthem.. you can feel the emotion. a new world is possible!
Today my church choire rehearsed Alfvens choral work 'the Lords prayer' which is from about the same time as his second symphony. Its an amazing but rarely performed piece. After rehearsal a fellow bass college of mine told me about this recording. He was at the time a member of the swedish radio symphony and had fond memories of how passionate Svetlanov was about Alfven. Its easy to see why!
bravo!!!! bellissimo
Amazing Maestro Svetlanov
I have never heard a Haydn symphony that I did not love. This is just another in an unbroken line of joy.
