The new ROG Swift PG32UCDM, a 32" QD-OLED Display with 240Hz on tap, what's not to love already?! Over the last year I've had extensive use from the previous ROG OLED monitors and I have to say, this one well and truly hits different. The HDR performance from this panel makes the entire gaming experience truly incredible.
Performance so far has exceeded my expectations, being able to achieve 240Hz refresh rates in a lot of AAA titles (with graphics maxed out) whilst powering with an Matrix RTX 4090 is a real visual treat. The 3rd Gen QD-OLED now makes text far more readable, which places this display as more than just a gaming monitor, as I found out whilst video editing shortly after producing this video.

As someone who buys a lot of ROG gear because I like the build quality, I really wish they would update their design language. I just hate the eye logo and the extreme gamery aesthetics. I feel they look very dated. Obviously taste is subjective and others might like their aesthetics.
As you noted, it’s subjective, I do appreciate your input though and it’s valid for sure! I think where ROG shines is when you have a general ROG setup… like, this monitor would look a little out of place standing next to the Fractal North, but that’s mainly because of the aggressive stand. If using a VESA mount or monitor arm it becomes less of an aesthetic clash. There’s always work arounds for everything. I’ll be using this monitor regardless moving forwards because the visuals are just so damn good 😅
totally agree. It’s ugly on a monitor you have to stare at. Glad Alienware doesn’t do this
+1 a cheesy "angry owl" in RED is pure cringe on computer parts.
@@Mr_Matt_LeeASUS made the best use of this QD-OLED panel, but it’s also the most expensive version. The design aesthetic is so over the top especially with the RGB elements and stand shape. You could use a different arm mount, but most of the cheaper arms are gonna feel weak sauce compared to the build and finish of the included stand, sadly. Would be a shame to spend anymore money after buying this kind of a monitor.
Also I like how you mentioned “next to the Fractal North case”. The best case next to the best monitor imo lol. My plan is to get a FE card in a blacked out North case with this monitor, eventually 😩.
ROG laptops are already separated into two categories: Strix and Zephyrus. The Strix is more gamery while the Zephyrus is more minimalist/industrial. All of the ROG desktop peripherals are basically Strix. I hope they’ll bring the Zephyrus design to the desktop soon.

ASUS are offering a 3 year warranty and they have also implemented lots of OLED care tech into the screen to minimise that issue. I’ve been using a previous ROG 27” OLED at the studio for almost a year now and it barely ever gets turned off. No burn in at all ✌️ glad you enjoyed the video buddy!
@@Mr_Matt_Lee thanks for the reply. It needs to last me at least 3 years, before I can get the next tax deductible device. I also run my current IPS monitor at 250 cdm brightness because of my bright room, which would be close to max for this. Just a bit worried for a ~ 1300£ monitor, nearly double what I payed for my last monitor. 😅

How far forward can you pull the monitor on the arm? I think I need it to move about 18" toward the front of the desk, which is pretty deep.

I recently upgraded to a 34" OLED 240Hz 1440p display. I've always struggled with my vertical aim on a 32" monitor whilst on the 27" high 34" it is pinpoint. I also prefer the extra immersion of an ultra wide, although admittedly cut-scenes and the like that are rendered in 16:9 or smaller and having to play some games with black bars, do break the immersion.

Im waiting for the 5090 play cod and battlefield. Im lucky to have a 3080 . I wonder if its payable.. but thete are 4k vertion with 1080p option as you know but any advice would be fantastic.

I’ve played 4K on a 3080 many times and it’s been quite good actually! Just gotta balance the graphic settings in games to get the most performance from them.

Asus is pretty much killing it. Even their Keyboards are the best.
The tripod socket is really nice. Big miss that it’s not there on the vesa mount.
A monitor of this price tag with USB-C but no Ethernet is a real shame for laptop users.
I just read that the new MSI QD-OLED 32" is using the same panel but has a 950$ MSRP instead of 1300$. The reviewer said it's the exact same image quality and performance (since it's the same panel) but for much cheaper. I wanted the Asus but I'm wondering if will not get the MSI instead and save some money (if I can ever find one in stock).
I can’t speak for MSI, but what makes the ASUS ROG panel special is that huge ROG heatsink which helps massively with heat dissipation and of course screen burn etc. It’s not unusual to see brands sharing a panel, LG pretty much supply all phone screens. That being said, ASUS always bring their own features to justify the cost, whether that’s in software, hardware and / or both.

A: Very reflective compared to most other PC monitors
B: Ambient light hitting the display raises black levels making it more look like an IPS than an OLED

😅 the light is asymmetric and can be angled away from the monitor like it was in this video. That way it produces zero glare. Its actually really handy when biting down on some noodles at night when you just need a bit more light on the desk 🤣

I'd really love a 2k UW OLED but I don't think they'll make one. I am so used to playing on my UW that going back to a standard monitor is jarring.
the problem here is the black floor, you can see the black trim around the screen which is true black but the screen black is much lighter. The w-oled is much better here.
