So, I had both models and in the end, I decided on the UCDP. One of the main reasons was the true black levels. No matter whether you're using the monitor in daytime or at night the black levels stay almost the same, which is definitely not the case with the QD-OLED. As soon as there's a light source shining on the monitor, the blacks become quite gray, and the screen turns purple. This is a huge problem if you're using the monitor during the day and defeats the purpose of an oled. Glossy is nice, but the issue with glossy is that it can be very straining on the eyes. For example, if you're watching TV and the screen has a glossy coating or almost none, it's easier on the eyes because you're sitting farther away. But if you're closer to the monitor and there are a lot of reflections, it's tiring for your eyes to focus on what's happening on the screen, and this can also lead to eye strain. Many people with QD-OLED panels also report experiencing eye strain. So, I would recommend the UCDP to anyone who uses their monitor both during the day and at night, has windows open, works on the monitor, and plays games. That’s my recommendation. UCDP has more natural colors too. Thanks for the review, by the way, it was really good 👍🏻
I used the Alienware AW3423DWF for about a year, and while it was an excellent monitor, over time, my eyes started to hurt more and more. I’m not entirely sure if it was due to the QD-OLED technology, but I’m convinced that something about the glass panel made my eyes extremely fatigued. Eventually, the dryness and pain in my eyes became unbearable, so I decided to make a big switch and purchased the LG 32GS95UE-B. I’ve been using it for over three months now, and while both WOLED and QD-OLED may have important differences like anti-reflective coating, I’m just so happy that my eyes don’t hurt anymore. It's been a huge relief.

Wow, subscribed because this is some quality production! I’ve moved into a new house and got myself the secret lab standing desk and now I have enough room to put my work laptop and my gaming setup together. Been looking at monitors for a while. I’ve been looking at the Samsung G9 (2024) since it has a matte coating and I’ve also considered the Asus. I’m still up in the air. But I’m learning towards a matte screen since I hate reflections. The only problem I have now is the eye watering prices these monitors go for… I feel that Samsung G9 provides the better value for the money over Asus.
I really love my glossy LG oled flex screen. However something that doesn't get talked about alot imo, is how susceptible these screens are to (micro) scratching. I really think this should be something to consider when buying a new monitor. There's a real difference in this regard between glossy and matte.
This is a good call out, I didn't need to wipe down the panels much in my time testing them. But i have heard that this can be an issue with QD OLED specifically. I have a QD-OLED TV (S95B) and this still looks really good after about 2 years of use, but admittedly i don't wipe that down much either.
i second this i accidently scratched my fo27q2 glossy qd oled while trying to reach for the joystick this is the biggest issue imo, raised black levels never really bothered me
this video nails it... im all about glossy... but not at the expense of black levels. (in the case of the qd oled coating) I also prefer matte for work. Cant really tell you why, just do. Great video!!

Those are two S Tier gaming monitors but my choice is UCDM because more vivid colors ! And because light control is no issue, just turn it off ! By the way, great chanel! Short, fast, useful content ! Subscribed it ! Thank you.
I'm glad both exist because people having more options is never a bad thing, but I the way I see it is glossy is for leisure and matte for productivity. I have a glossy OLED for games and movies (stuff I'll do at night), and a matte IPS for the day where I can do my work.
@@EverTechReviews yeah it's not easy, mine are both 27" but I've got a 55" tv on my desk as well which I use as basically 4 x 27" monitors. Been using it for years and love it, so can't get rid of it now. The hard part is getting the LCD and OLED stacked one above the other, allowing me to switch them at will. This part is not easy and I haven't figured it out yet.
@@Snxgur i don't have reflections during day or night, so if I had to choose one at thesame price, I'd pick glossy. But if one was cheaper than the other, I'd get that one regardless of the finish.
Thanks for breaking this down. Tons of great info on here. I’ve been looking at purchasing an OLED monitor though it seems like overkill for a console player. Can’t reallly take advantage of anything over 120 hz. Might be a good future proof option perhaps? There’s also the reveal of hdmi 2.2 with greater bandwidths arriving later on. I’ll probably wait a little while longer before pulling the trigger on one of these displays.
I've had the privilege of trying both displays. Both are very impressive. I do prefer the UCDM as the colors "pop" more, but that is due to me being used to over saturated colors. Either display will serve one well. The text fringing is worse on the UCDP, though.
Wipe is just around the corner!! If you check out my other video on the 480hz Sony, not all OLED function as well with the shadow boost feature. But the ASUS implementation is really good. I wouldn't want to go back to playing without it.
I’ve never had an issue with my qd oled, the colours are outstanding and the brightness is fantastic. I have my curtains shut to eliminate direct light sunlight.
ASUS's website describes the UCDM's finish, not as glossy, but as "Anti Reflection", and the UCDP as "Anti Glare", these are types of matte finishes for dissipating the light in the room that hits the panel. On the same official website, ASUS actually does describe other monitors of theirs as "Glossy", showing that they don't consider the UCDM or UCDP as true glossy, else they would label them as such. The amazon link for both UCDM and UCDP also describes them as "Matte", because they aren't glossy. I don't get why everyone is specifically using UCDM and UCDP to compare as "Matte vs Glossy" when they're both just different types of matte? Or at least both semi-gloss.
seems the LG 32GS95UE and PG32UCDP dual mode feature really isn't all that great at switching to 1080p i mean its just being set to a 32 inch screen meant for 4k and even cropping it down to 27/24 inch makes it look worse and then having to fiddling with the settings to make it look decent it's probably just better to get a native 1080p monitor and a 4k monitor.
Omg you play tarkov! 97% of my non phone gaming has been on it since 2017… so if you played in a medium-dim lit room with no lights behind the display for tarkov, which would you pick? Although I do have 4 other monitors nearby as I run multiple tarkov accounts at once to fill raids…. Pay to win energy.
tarkov looks great on both, but if there is any light in the room.. personally i like the PG32UCDP. The shadow boost on these oled panels is like a cheat code for tarkov. Image "quality" is generally better on the PG32UCDM, but the raised blacks and the glare make me prefer the matte coating for tarkov
@ both are great. Neither is bad. I decided on the UCDP for myself for the reasons outlined in the video. A lot of people though still prefer the UCDM. Price is a factor now too, generally the UCDM is cheaper right now
I had the lil bro of the WOLED, the XG27AQDMG. The HDR was atrocious, shadow details were eliminated entirely when HDR was set to 100/100 in nearly all HDR content. (im not talking about SDR to HDR here!)
That 3D depth and vivid colors you like so much about a glossy display, is due to the glossy surface. But not because what's behind the surface is, but because of reflections, which are unwanted.
32UCDM For some reason, if your own is HDMI, it will change to Dolby Vision gaming. When you finish the game and return to the desktop screen, HDR 10 will be displayed. If you change the brightness of the SDR from the Windows settings, you will return to Dolby Vision.
VRR flicker that you're experiencing may be because of G-Sync. Static backgrounds will flicker in certain games, turning off G-Sync may help with that. However, this worked for me on my 1440p 27" LG OLED which I believe is W-OLED. Can' say if that's how it works for ASUS or QD-OLED panels.
it is 100% because of g-sync and is an issue with all OLED. It is noticeable in game, but is more evident on static screens. I disable this on a game by game basis in Nvidia Control Panel.
Off topic a bit, but I’m currently fighting the general hype for a LG G4 tv and returning the Samsung S95D I picked up. My condo is 85% windows. Only the bedrooms have black out curtains. The rest are a bit more translucent. I’m facing all the mid day and late afternoon sun. I don’t care how bright a tv gets, a dark scene is going to have glare and reflections. Even if it’s mini led. I feel like I’m being brain washed to favour the LG G4 but I feel like I’ll immediately regret returning the Samsung. I think anti glare and “matte” options have improved significantly over the year and like you I don’t want to constantly be sitting in a dark space. Sorry that was a lot.
@@DerekJamesMandyonly go glossy if you can easily control your lighting environment and dont mind gaming in the dark. Otherwise I would expore matte options. I have a C1 48 and C3 77 and for both these TVs I need to turn of lights to avoid reflections. Thankfully my windows are in a good place.
@@lukario223 Uhm, no. Almost all TVs come with matte coating. Only some Oled use glossy. And almost all reference monitors are with matte finish, and for a reason.
Thanks for the great review. Two questions: 1) Did you find text clarity to be better on one monitor vs the other? I plan on using the monitor for both gaming and productivity work (word processing, web browsing, etc). 2) At the 10 second watermark, there's a beautiful painting you have on the wall. Where did you get this painting?
Text clarity is fine on both for productivity. I think the UCDP is slightly better. I use mine for coding and video editing and have no complaints. Picture is from Ashley furniture, “clefting wall art”
@@danieldavidovsky518 to the eye it doesn’t look like that. The color temperature on both is set to the same 6500k default preset. The camera seems to pick up that panel as “warmer” for some reason.

Question do I need DisplayWidget Centre or can I just use the monitors buttons? Basically are there any features that are exclusive to the app? (I’d rather not install any ASUS software tbh)
Thanks for your great study i understood that matt & W oled type is good for me but i must wait a bit more with those prices still OLED is not a great choise.
there is the samsung g80sd which uses the same qd-oled panel, but has a matte coating which must be a good compromise to avoid reflections and the purple tint
i'm really interested into this monitor, the P variant, i'm still debating if I should get this one or the 1440p version, this video was one of the best i have found on youtube, better than even the biggest channels, very in depth

great video, im watching this on my 4K OLED and i love how sharp your face is on 4K but your footage of the monitors was very blurry, try and keep those high res too🙂. great content!
Looking at the ASUS PG32UCDM. Don't you think that the over exaggerated colors is wrong. It looks like is is too much. The sky is way too bright for example. It is a lot more red i think in the screen. The darks is not as dark as the ASUS PG32UCDP. On the ASUS PG32UCDM even in dark rooms the black in some cases looks like more bright and grey. Skin colors looks wrong also on the ASUS PG32UCDM
Excellent video. The production quality is no way representitive of your sub count., keep it up, I've definitely subbed. I'm currently trying to grab a 4K OLED panel and I'm so bad at making these high-cost purchase decisions as I get caught up in picking the "right" one. From what I see, a lot of people prefer Glossy, but do you personally feel there isn't any real difference, and if so, is it negligble?
Thank you! There is a difference and from a pure “image quality” standpoint I do think it looks better. But I’ve been using the UCDP(matte) exclusively since this video, and have never once felt like I was missing out. If reflections and light control are not issues for you, the QDOLED is great. But for me, reflections are the reason I went matte.
I have the Razer leviathan v2 x. It has very average sound quality but does the job for what I use it for. I liked the size, price, and looks of it. I mostly use it for music and watching TH-cam. I could put together a TH-cam short on it if you are keen :)
Best review I’ve seen of these 2 monitors! The text on a (dusty looking) white background is so fuzy and hazy on my PG32UCDP I cannot look at this at all in the daytime when using as a production device. However, on a darker background everything looks good. I’m considering the glossy panel of the PG32UCDM to see if text on a white background appears cleaner? If the UCDM isn’t cleaner on a white background i’ll consider picking up XG27AQDMG
@@Gekko858 I do think that full white screens with text looks nicer on the pg32ucdm. To me it isn’t a massive difference from normal viewing distance though
@@EverTechReviews thanks for your response. Did you find the redish/purple hue (UCDM) on a white background distracting? I’m unsure if this would appear too unnatural.
Nice video! Seems like both monitors are good and hard to tell which is better. But the true blacks of woled just seems superior to me. Though sad that it has a slightly less wide color gamut. I also don't play any games where 480Hz would help which kinda is a waste but I do work with color grading so true blacks is very important for that reason too, as I intend to use my monitor for both for work and gaming.
I have to say the black level raise is only an issue if you shine the light directly at the screen. Look at how he has shined a bright light directly at the screens. Who is gonna do this whilst gaming ?
I have to say that an issue is an issue. Different people and have different rooms and pretending it doesn't exist won't make it go away. Just look at how his windows on the side is enough to turn the screen completely purple. He also touched on the eye strain caused by the glossy QD-OLED. Making your room darker to decrease the issue will simply amplify the effects of eye strain on him. It's basically a Lose-Lose situation either way. (I had the MSI 321URX at one point and can sympathize on his experience)
if I play games like monster hunter , games usually require top image quality for the graphics cards and I have 7900xtx and if I want to run 4K to see the most beautiful views and monsters in games, which one should I pick and which oled panel shoulda I go for.
0:04, 1:57 and 2:12 this looks disgusting on QD-OLED, iterally unplayable. I be honest black looks worse than on 8 years old TN panel I actually use and I am going to switch to 4K OLED. Dont known why people are talking about black levels....thats a QDOLED issue. I thought the video was about Matte vs. Glossy. Asus does make a Glossy WOLED which would have been a better comparison.
I'll share my thinking on my thumbnail and title. I chose the title Matte VS Glossy since to most people are familiar with those terms, but may not be familiar with the more specific OLED terms. Video is def more of a comparison of QD-OLED and W-OLED though for sure, which is why I put the two panel names in the title. I tried to cover both points though in the video best i could!
I also get eye fatigue. After gaming for a while.. im lookin to buy my first monitor, if i put either a glossy nd matte screen on low bright setting would one be better than the other ina dark room?
with low brightness i would probably go for the UCDP with the matte coating since brightness often helps to not notice glare. But if you have no reflections in the panel because you are able to control the light sources, i do prefer the way the picture looks on the UCDM.
1) No doubt it has to be W-OLED. The violet screen of a QD-OLED is just absolutely ridiculous. 2) No doubt it has to be a mat coating. The massive reflections of a glossy panel are the by far the biggest red flag a monitor could possibly have.
Both of these monitors have great sales for Black Friday. UCDM is $999 which is wild, and the UCDP is $100 off. Link in description if you are keen

Amazing content! Appreciate the in-depth review and opinions.
Dude, I love your videos. You show monitors side-by-side, showing the difference between QD-OLED and WOLED with your very good camera. Other channels keep repeating the same screensaver background loop or show like 3 seconds of game footage. And you cover more ground in terms of talking points us gamers want to keep in mind.
@@xPhantomxify I really appreciate that! I try to make content that I would also like to watch :)
The only problem I have now is the eye watering prices these monitors go for…
I feel that Samsung G9 provides the better value for the money over Asus.
Beautiful video !!! This is what I needed thank you
I really love my glossy LG oled flex screen.
I have a QD-OLED TV (S95B) and this still looks really good after about 2 years of use, but admittedly i don't wipe that down much either.
i second this
i accidently scratched my fo27q2 glossy qd oled while trying to reach for the joystick
this is the biggest issue imo, raised black levels never really bothered me
this video nails it... im all about glossy... but not at the expense of black levels. (in the case of the qd oled coating) I also prefer matte for work. Cant really tell you why, just do. Great video!!
Man it was best comparison of this two monitor between all youtube video i seen past week until now it was too complete
You really deserve more than 300k subscriber keep going strong man i have faith in you;i am sure you will succeed.
Those are two S Tier gaming monitors but my choice is UCDM because more vivid colors ! And because light control is no issue, just turn it off ! By the way, great chanel! Short, fast, useful content ! Subscribed it ! Thank you.
Very nice comparison. THank you. Earned a sub.
Team Glossy
At the beginning with BLack Myth Wukong 00:28 the clouds seems blue on the UCDP, and white on the UCDM that's normal ?
I'm glad both exist because people having more options is never a bad thing, but I the way I see it is glossy is for leisure and matte for productivity. I have a glossy OLED for games and movies (stuff I'll do at night), and a matte IPS for the day where I can do my work.
not a bad way to go. if i had 2 desks, i would def be setup that way i think
I think this guy has a chanel with 1M subs and now he starts a new one for fun. Bro If not, WTF. This video is so good man!
haha thank you! I'm still learning but this video seems to have resonated with people :) Almost to 1k subs!
Thank you for testing oled with tarkov. I’m still on the fence but this definitely helped.
Wipe is just around the corner!! If you check out my other video on the 480hz Sony, not all OLED function as well with the shadow boost feature. But the ASUS implementation is really good. I wouldn't want to go back to playing without it.
I had my matte Neo g8 for 3 years. Just picked up the Alienware 4k oled and I’m loving the Alienware so much
400 subs!!! We gotta pump those numbers up
Glossy ftw
They look completely different. The ucdm is mirror like with light sources in the room. The UCDP diffuses the light a lot
seems the LG 32GS95UE and PG32UCDP dual mode feature really isn't all that great at switching to 1080p i mean its just being set to a 32 inch screen meant for 4k and even cropping it down to 27/24 inch makes it look worse and then having to fiddling with the settings to make it look decent it's probably just better to get a native 1080p monitor and a 4k monitor.
the PG32UCDP is amazing, it have A.I Sniper amazing feature
i m definitely picking up
These are the two monitors I e been deciding over. Great vid. DP it is I think
Great comparison video! I wanted the CDM but they sold out so i bought CDP.
Was waiting on this follow up! I’m buying one of these… which one ahhhh
Sorry it took soo long! My house was under construction and impacted my ability to film things!
Do you think you can sort of replicate the QD-OLED picture on the UCDP if you turn up the color saturation?
@@insidiousreaper it’s not quite the same. But the colors on the UCDP look really good, and I have no complaints with it on my desk.
@ thx. I am really considering the UCDP for the simple fact I like the versatility of the 480hz mode and I want to game with my lights on at times.
@ both are great. Neither is bad. I decided on the UCDP for myself for the reasons outlined in the video. A lot of people though still prefer the UCDM. Price is a factor now too, generally the UCDM is cheaper right now

Crazy how the lg c2 42 inch is glossy yet has no purple issue so you get best of both worlds , OLED for the win
Best combo Woled with Glossy panel :)
Thanks, great review 👍
I had the lil bro of the WOLED, the XG27AQDMG. The HDR was atrocious, shadow details were eliminated entirely when HDR was set to 100/100 in nearly all HDR content. (im not talking about SDR to HDR here!)
Speechless, thanks, buying UCDP
That 3D depth and vivid colors you like so much about a glossy display, is due to the glossy surface. But not because what's behind the surface is, but because of reflections, which are unwanted.
Picking up the PG32UCDP later today. Love seeing how good Tarkov looks on this. Looking forward to this monitor!
@@Shock72019 it’s a beast. I’m putting together a short with optimized settings for this panel that I should have up today or tomorrow
@ I appreciate it!
Great video, earned yourself a sub👍
Awesome, thank you!
Thank you very much, very informative and helpfull.

hey, cool video!! I think u forgot the xg27aqdmg, because in my eyes this is a real glossy, without the red/purple glare of the qd-oled!
@@TeeXxXs I have not had an opportunity to test that panel, but it does look like it may offer some of the best of both worlds
I used to be a Glossy guy until I realised I don't want to sit in a dark room 24/7 to get the best out of the monitor.
Thankfully my windows are in a good place.
when you put a matte coat you actually decrease it's potential. That's why TV never comes with matte finish.
@@lukario223 Uhm, no. Almost all TVs come with matte coating. Only some Oled use glossy.
And almost all reference monitors are with matte finish, and for a reason.
Thanks for the great review. Two questions:
1) Did you find text clarity to be better on one monitor vs the other? I plan on using the monitor for both gaming and productivity work (word processing, web browsing, etc).
2) At the 10 second watermark, there's a beautiful painting you have on the wall. Where did you get this painting?
Text clarity is fine on both for productivity. I think the UCDP is slightly better. I use mine for coding and video editing and have no complaints.
Picture is from Ashley furniture, “clefting wall art”
The UCDM looks redder than the UCDP - is that due to a preset you made on that monitor to turn up the red?
@@danieldavidovsky518 to the eye it doesn’t look like that. The color temperature on both is set to the same 6500k default preset. The camera seems to pick up that panel as “warmer” for some reason.

Basically are there any features that are exclusive to the app? (I’d rather not install any ASUS software tbh)
Thanks for your great study i understood that matt & W oled type is good for me but i must wait a bit more with those prices still OLED is not a great choise.

In person the colors look quite good, the camera does make them look a bit worse. But yeah, some may find them over saturated in general
I have a Samsung Odyssey G6 OLED 360hz and the blacks look black not purple and the panel is anti-reflective.
Great Video! Keep doing it and your channel will grow quickly! 😊
What soundbar is it under the Monitor at 10:06 and are you happy with it?

No I didn’t, in person it looks much more white than it appears on camera.
That pink tent to the black screen is a deal-breaker for me I much prefer the W OLED
Glossy 🤤
if I play games like monster hunter , games usually require top image quality for the graphics cards and I have 7900xtx and if I want to run 4K to see the most beautiful views and monsters in games, which one should I pick and which oled panel shoulda I go for.
They both look great. If you have a light controlled room I like the PG32UCDM. For everything else I like the PG32UCDP
0:04, 1:57 and 2:12 this looks disgusting on QD-OLED, iterally unplayable. I be honest black looks worse than on 8 years old TN panel I actually use and I am going to switch to 4K OLED. Although colors are much better on QD-OLED in the dark room. However I would want to use my monitor at daylight too.
Yeah I didn’t realise it’s that severe too

@@Opt1685 it is so similar, both are great. I find the text on the UCDM to be a tiny bit sharper because of the glossy screen. But most people I’ve had look at the two like the UCDP better and I generally have a preference for the matte screen for day use
For the lower resolution scaling, I would let the GPU do it. It should stay much more aligned to the pixels.
Both, UCDM for my XBOX and UCDP for my PC 👍
Very helpful video
Glad it was helpful!
1) No doubt it has to be W-OLED.
The violet screen of a QD-OLED is just absolutely ridiculous.
2) No doubt it has to be a mat coating.
The massive reflections of a glossy panel are the by far the biggest red flag a monitor could possibly have.
Is it just me or is the light during most of this video on the side of the desk with the UCDM?
my window is on that side of the desk, in the shots where i turn the light on and off, that is an overhead light
