      I wasn't a fan of the Constellation class at first but since the re skinning and put in 4k resolution, I would put the Stargazer on my list of favorite Federation starships. The Stargazer never looked better. Awesome job.

      Hated it too as a kid watching TNG as it looked so old and 23rd century so was clearly not as cools as the galaxy era ships. As an adult with a refined pallet I know I was very very wrong

    I like it. It's a more practical and sensible design than the Constitution imho. The thicker saucer section and complete lack of the engineering secondary hull or overly long and thin connection pylons means it's more spacious inside and easier to maintain.

      @@TriAngulumAudioStudios I like the quad warp nacelle design and it makes good sense why Starfleet would play with that design. What I never understood is the THREE warp nacelle design and...if I'm gonna be honest, that design looks goofy and pretty tacky.

    • @TriAngulumAudioStudios
      @TriAngulumAudioStudios  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They operate under the same principle as four nacelle designs, that the extra nacelle allows for a tighter warp field and extra added warp protection... Personally, I've loved MANY three nacelle designs!

In Star Trek: Online "yes going back to this" Wich the addition of Wil Wheaton as the Terran Emperor has given this new life for me I've always tries to have a Constellation, where originally it was a Stargazer class or something, but when they brought out the Constellation class finally, I had to get it! That ship has served me well for years (in game) Did a Tri thing of creating my own canon for as why it remained in service. Even purchased the 12" model and a few years later they put more detail in the way she looked, so still have to get another one.

There's rationale and reason for design in general and I like how designs evolved. • @franksmedley7372

    Hello TriAngulum.
    I have always liked the Constellation Class. It is sturdy, long ranged, and useful. All the points you made about the eject-able lab areas are good ones... Although, for myself, I would have used the ship as a 'carrier' type vessel. Turning the labs into further shuttle bays.
    For exploration, such multiple shuttle bays would be very useful in charting and cataloging a newly discovered star system in record time, by flooding the system with specialty shuttles for that purpose.
    For warfare, the replacement of the vast majority of the shuttles with fighter craft, and armored shuttle craft, would make the ship a potent threat to any foe it encountered.
    As a Commander that wants the best he can get from any ship, I think I would have pressed to salvage a more powerful warp core to increase the ship's available overall power.
    Baring that, replacing the original core with several smaller cores might do the trick.
    If nothing else, it would give the warp cores the redundancy of the nacelles, which is a survival factor I can get behind and push for.

    • @TriAngulumAudioStudios
      @TriAngulumAudioStudios  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All Beta Canon supports that it is NOT a carier class! In fact, even logic and Canom support that it is not, as a carier vessel is never an exploration starship by mission profile!

    • @franksmedley7372
      @franksmedley7372 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TriAngulumAudioStudios : You missed my point entirely. What I meant to point out was that with the lab areas devoted to more shuttle bays, the ship could more quickly explore a solar system, and with such an expanded number of bay areas, it could also be pressed into use as a carrier.

    • @TriAngulumAudioStudios
      @TriAngulumAudioStudios  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I always thought that the 4 nacells wasn't for speed, but instead for duration. Run 2 at max speed for the max rated time and then use the other two to rest and repair the ones that were just run. Kind of like how they use reactors on aircraft carriers some times.

  • @xheralt
    @xheralt 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    My view of the 'Stellas: They came about after the New Paradigm warp engines (revised [TNG] warp factor calculation, 10 is absolute max) were devised. With the initial discovery of Cardassia, and the conflicts that ensued, Starfleet needed ships that could be assembled quickly, in large numbers, using older stockpiled parts. Previous efforts to use four nacelles had faltered because of the difficulty of balancing them all, given the limitations of the multitronic ship computers of the era, but with 24th century polytronics, it was feasible -- and there were a lot of FWF-type nacelles in storage. Four of these older nacelles HAD to be used per vessel, to even minimally match the power output and speed of the New Paradigm vessels, but 'Stellas were nonetheless faster and more capable than the Old Paradigm Excelsiors and Mirandas that otherwise filled the fleet. This is how they landed in the role of "Fleet workhorse", as opposed to the more glamorous -- but scarcer -- early next-gen builds such as the Ambassador and Narendra classes. Their ruggedness also contributed to them having longer service lives than many of the vessels they were contemporaries of.

  • @theodoremccarthy4438
    @theodoremccarthy4438 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    In my head canon the Constellation class was a reaction to the teething problems of the Excelsior class and awkward design of the Constitution class refit. Given the ongoing failures of the transwarp experiments Star Fleet’s ship designers were challenged to design a cruiser with capabilities meeting or exceeding the Constitution class refit or, at best, approaching those of the excelsior using the established technologies of the Constitution and Miranda class cruisers. This is why the four nacelle design was necessary, as it was the only way to get a warp field whose power was equivalent to the Excelsior’s using the only style nacelles.
    This design approach was largely successful with the four nacelle design having only two draw backs. First it was inefficient at low warp speeds, due to the power requirements of four nacelles operating in tandem. Second, that energy demand also left less power for the ships other systems. This is why the class was often derided as “underpowered and overworked”.

Despite you feeling that the NX refit BETA was sub-par is thought it fitted nicely into what fans would expect. If anyone hasn't seen them then please look them up. I'll be honest I hated the NX, even though from the top she looks like my favourite Fed ship, the Akira. When the Secondary hull is added, it turns into a design I, not just like, but LOVE. I also like the background of the Nova, it fits well into the Federation ethos. If I haven't liked or bought into a narrative you've created for something then I've always felt free to explain why. But as I said two really nice videos, to anyone who hasn't seen them... please check them out.

      Simple, it's never talked about, it's never really seen except as an old dilapidated vessel even though it was a very important class... Even fandom rarely talks about it... And as for Picard's history, I think you'd find MOST cadets and Officers more interested in his command of the FLAGSHIP of the Federation! @@TriAngulumAudioStudios True. But. Picard may not have ever commanded the Enterprise-D if it weren't for his command of the Stargazer. If I'm not mistaken, there was an episode of TNG that looked at this very scenario. I believe Q was a big part of this.
      Perhaps you could make a review of this from a Beta Canon standpoint.

      Yes and? Again, Churchill may never have been PM if he wasnt an admiral of the fleet first, yet most people don't know that... That's how history works...
      And no, TNG's scenario was about Picards Heart, not the Stargazer! Though mentioned, it wasnt anything major, nor would I say, did anyone really know about Picards Heart! :)

      PS could you explain "Perhaps you could make a review of this from a Beta Canon standpoint?" Im not sure I understand what you mean...

      @@TriAngulumAudioStudios Well, Beta Canon seems to me to differ from regular Canon stuff. I think what I'm really asking is that you do a kind of What if? thing with Picard. Like maybe, "What if Picard didn't take command of the Stargazer?" Because that was the moment that defined his later career. And isn't that what that episode in TNG kind of explored? I'd love to see your take on it.

    Why add more engines?
    Everyone knows that if you want to make something faster, you have to add stripes
